If Latham, Mims or Fuaga is there, I'd be extremely tempted. Any of the three can slide into RG, be a powerhouse there with an eye towards RT if/when necessary.

I find it disappointing that no one thinks that Tyler Steen can move into the starting RG role.  Being deactivated down the stretch isn't a good sign.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

That would be nice but Howie is still going to have to do his job and bring in better defensive talent.

Also Harbaugh might take Minter with him if he takes an NFL job.

If Harbaugh stays at Michigan I could see Minter staying one more year. Ohio went out spent in the 8 figures bringing in new kids and returning others. I could see Harbaugh convincing him to help drive the stake thru Ohio for the final time.

Doubtful.  Lowie enjoy pulling the strings too much to bring in a head coach or DC with a different philosophy and autonomy.  It's just gonna be another puppet that runs the scheme that Lowie and the analytics department insist on.

That can still work if there at least is sufficient talent on the D, but Lowie completely screwed the pooch on that this season.  They need to invest more money and high draft picks to fix this D, and I'm not sure that aligns with their philosophy on team building.

Unfortunately you're most likely right. There's no reason to believe otherwise considering the history. I am hoping the embarrassing end opens their eyes and in turn they make the necessary changes to get better. But those chances are slim. It's more just a hope and wish at this point.

Given this OT class that feels like the most likely first rounder to me.

It may be. I wonder though if theyll take one that late in the round though. I kinda feel theyd take an athletic freak top 10, or else get them later and put them through Stoutland university. Do they really want to spend a 1st on like the 6th or 7th OT in this class?

Last time they took an OT that "fell" it was Andre Dillard. Now theyre picking even later.

I actually liked Steen coming out of the draft. Thought we could've landed him a little later but was overall ok with the selection. His season was disappointing overall. If he doesn't pan out as a starer, being a top back up with versatility wouldn't be the end of the world. Maybe he will be a more talented version of Driscoll who is a free agent.

I think Steen will be fine.  Was probably just caught up in the numbers game with the injuries on defense.

The real disappointment to me was Jurgens.  He played pretty good to start of the season but he wasn't very good after he came back from injury.  Saw a lot of missed assignments.  Ultimately, he was a big drop off from Seumalo.

Well that will be a major problem considering he is penciled in at center. Talk about a drop off from Kielce to Cam. On top of that Kielce is unprecedented with his line-calls, experience  and recognition and such. We had trouble there this year even with Kelce, imagine how bad it can be with Cam. That's a little scary.

I know Howie's history with drafting and signing safeties and linebackers but it's a flawed and failed view, creating these disjointed Frankenstein defenses is not a recipe for success and never will be which is proven.  Maybe after this years embarrassing joke, the front office will update their philosophies. Karen Kinchens would be a nice pick at 22. He has the physicality, intimidating presence and playmaking ability this back 7 desperately needs.

A guy named Karen.... just doesn't scare me all that much.... Ohhhh it's Kamren....never mind.

The bright side is he should improve.  But yes, Jurgens was not that good this season.

If the draft is as top heavy as the experts say it is maybe the Eagles need to be looking to do whatever they can to get as many picks in the first 4 rounds as possible. That might even include packaging their 2 2nds to get back in to the late 1st or early 2nd.

Coming away with DeJean and Kinchens rather than having to pick one of them would go a long way towards rebuilding this secondary.

Or coming away with any top defensive talent paired with a top WR.

Eagles drafting history suggests one of the following positions at #22 if we keep it:

DE, DT, WR, OG, OT.

Looking at this draft:

DE: only  3 appear to be 1st round talent, and none are really top top end.

DT: only a couple 1st rounders and again not top end talent.

WR: could get a good one at 22

OG: NOPE!

OT: a lot of good ones.

LB: no real 1st round talent this draft.

Hopefully they stick to best available at 22 which will include some OT, potentially a very good WR, and some good options at S, CB.

I hope they go back seven, but if the choice is between back 7 and OT/WR, I think we know which way Howie goes.  But I am ready and hoping to be shocked.

Hey Jeff

Also, definite trade potential at 22 if both Penix and Nix are both on the board.

Great, the one year we have a boatload of comp picks! Think projection is we end up with 4 5th round picks

Hargrave is getting us a 3rd at least. The others will be probably be 5ths.

OT, TE, WR and CB in whatever order will be what is picked in the first 3 rounds for the Eagles assuming they keep all 4 picks.

Meh

can still develop under Stout and be a starting RG eventually or a valuable swing/depth piece

i think kelce is gonna play one more

Has he not announced his retirement? I know the initial report was not true but I thought he had since said he was going to retire?

Howie making a good draft selection at #22 would buck the historical trend

He’s 3-5 vs Ohio State. They’re not going into Ohio and winning this year it would be best for him to go pro. Michigan is losing about 40 total players.

Yeah I'm never on team trade down, but this year I think am.

I think he should remain a T.  Be the swing T next season looking to move to RT when Lane hangs them up.

He has walked the retirement back since the initial reports after the game. Clearly he's waiting to see how this whole coaching mess gets sorted out before making a final decision.  We probably won't know until near the start of free agency.

1st round Howie only really has success in the top 10. I'm fine with a trade out of the first round even. Better track record in 2nd rounds

I don’t think the initial report was not true, Kelce just wants to announce it on his terms
