The lament is simple: they let him walk and failed to replace him.  He wouldn't have to be a 'good' safety to be a massive upgrade over what the Eagles threw out there this past season.   Below average would have been an upgrade.  I believe CJGJ would have been much better than what they threw out there.   Same as Epps.   Letting both walk was a mistake.  Same goes with White and Edwards.   Neither was a stud that was irreplaceable.  And yet, the Eagles failed to replace either of them as well.

AND, frankly, with how it ended, everyone is looking for ways to get it fixed for next year.   All they need is a little help on defensive personnel to be an upgrade, but we are looking for more than that.   Hence the need for a better scheme AND better than below average players.  Frankly, I'd put Edwards and CJGJ in the 'average' department.   I'd say Epps and White would top out at 'average'.

Everything that could have gone wrong, seemed to have gone wrong on this defense... and it started with the personnel decisions... exacerbated by the wrong DC hire.

I think the cupboard on D is so bare in the back seven that there will be no quick fixes next year, regardless the DC. Will they look as terrible as this year? No, that hardly possible, but it will take more than a year to fix the mess HOWIE caused with his stupid decision on defense.

And if we re-signed CJGJ, we’d be overpaying an average at best safety. You wouldn’t be happy with that either.

Would rather that than massively overpaying a horrific over the hill CB.

Another crossing pattern, this time to the TE.

There’s no reason why Goedert can’t do what LaPorta has been doing. It was coaching malpractice with the way they used Goedert this year.

He’s made quite a few tough catches for Tampa , very clutch too . He was actually WO 4 behihnd Gage  , Evans and Godwin … gage got hurt

I dont doubt it. Hands can improve. But nobody here was really clamoring for him during the draft. He was a 4.2 fast guy but had bad hands.

It's hard to believe Sirianni got outcoached by Todd f'n Bowels and blown out by this bad Buc team....And he still gonna keep his job somehow, unbelievable.

Yup.   Simple crossing route... run a seam route every now and then.   Where were the slants?  Deep ins?

And is it not obvious that Bowles was laughing his butt off with our predictably offense coming to town? Hardly no blitzing against the Lions, but it seemed like they blitz constantly against Hurts…. Well because they/he had no answers. Embarrassing… but we are all good there.🤦🏼

How do you get blown out by these bums and keep your job?

1. Jim Leonard: Illinois Senior Football Analyst. Interview for DC in 2023.

2. Jesse Minter: Michigan DC. Interviewed for DC in 2023.

3. Glenn Schumann: Co-DC Georgia. Specializes with linebackers. He knows the players. Interviewed for DC in 2023

4. Chris Shula: Rams LB coach. Interviewed for DC in 2023.

5. Dennard Wilson: DB coach Ravens. Interviewed for DC in 2023.

I would be happy with any of these 5 for DC.

Forgot we interviewed Minter. Be happy to go with him

Sirianni would get outcoached by a majority of college coaches, he's clearly the worst HC in the NFL.

It's a miracle that this team even won 11 games due to his ineptitude

In addition to the coaches, the Lions have a QB who is willing to stand in the pocket and deliver a pass.

Yup, sometimes a qb just has to stand and deliver.

One of if not Hurts best passing game this year was when his legs were all busted up and he couldnt really move.

Reminiscent of Mcnabbs broken leg game.

When hurts stands tall in the pocket he can make some good throws,  but too often he rolls out whether theres pressure or not which leads to wins for the D.☹️

Same team week prior beat Panthers 9-0 and looked horrible

Baker friggen mayfield can deal with an unblocked Hutch and Hurts cant figure out blitzes…

Because you’re a playoff coach / SB coach for 3 seasons in a row. I know that such a résumé should mean something, but when the s… hits the fan like the last part of the season in such an embarrassing way, you might feel inclined to look past the playoff success.

But then again, I’m one of those crappy Eagles fans who would boo the hell out of the team and be a major part of the #homefielddisadvantage.

The only team that’s looked impressive so far in the playoffs has been the Ravens

A Lions beat down is the best case for anyone holding out hope or Sirianni being fired.

I wouldn't sweat it, he'll be gone by midseason next year

Packers looked damn impressive too…until they didn’t.

The Packers as a team were great last night - Love single handedly lost that game in the 4th quarter

Too bad Love crapped his pants in the 4th Q last night. Would have been so nice to have both Cowgirls and 4Whiners out of the playoffs.

Exactly, he really went backwards this year in bailing out of the pocket, often for no reason at all just as receivers were breaking open. Alex Tanney should have been on his case.

His best game this year was probably the Commanders game and he was visibly limited in his ability to rush and escape. But he just stood in the pocket and delivered. If he gets his legs back next year and gets better at decision making on when to bail vs stand and throw, we will get 2022 Hurts back.

It's really a shame we weren't as good as last year's team, because I think we would sleepwalk to a SB victory

look at the playcalling insane fail

Well that will be a major problem considering he is penciled in at center. Talk about a drop off from Kielce to Cam. On top of that Kielce is unprecedented with his line-calls, experience  and recognition and such. We had trouble there this year even with Kelce, imagine how bad it can be with Cam. That's a little scary.

Cam should be fine at Center, he was always a little undersized for guard

He like Kelce plays with great leverage, as great as Kelce was he didnt have a great year by his standards.

Its not fair to hold Cam to the kelce standard, thats a really high standard and he doesnt meed to be Kelce for the eagles to be successful he just needs to not suck, which I dont think he will.

Lets give him at least a year at center before we right him off.

If it makes you feel better, this team definitely sleepwalked their way through the end of the season.
