Largely opinion, and honestly it's mostly unfounded opinion. People in the NFL at every level often talk about what's doing right for them and their families. The subject was about getting TALENTED coaches with OPTIONS, not about whether or not you could get a coach.

And while there's some 'what have you done lately', there's very different levels of that lately.

Add on top of that knowing that Howie Roseman has a vice grip on power in Philadelphia so it's nearly impossible to win any power struggle and there's tons of reasons to not go to Philadelphia if it seems dysfunctional. Tons.

It is opinion but not unfounded. "What have you done lately" is an annual evaluation for highly compensated folks who work at a leadership level. To your other point, Dallas is widely seen as dysfunctional, yet, the amount of talent they have is attractive to coaches who want to come in and show they can win. The Eagles have been to two SBs in the past decade. It is one of the most attractive coaching jobs in football. Going in a different direction from Siri is not going to poison the well. Waiting too long to make the decision might impact the quality of the candidates though. The other concern that I have is that the decision making process might be too skewed to the Reid and Fangio coaching trees. I have seen enough Fangio-influenced defenses for a lifetime.

That can't be accurate. 10.9% is way too high.

The team just plain and simply gave up as a whole. They gave up on the coaching staff and put in no effort last night. After such an embarrassment and the obvious "lost the locker room” I don’t understand how anyone can say that Sirianni needs to stay. It’s not about losing, but how they have lost these past weeks. It has been beyond embarrassing.

But but but he brought us to the playoffs 3 years in a row!

That's the plan, and it works just fine for guys like Tomlin, John Harbaugh, etc.  Neither of those guys design a scheme.

The thing is, it doesn't even need to be like that forever. Head Coaches don't just cease to be human beings capable of learning once they reach the position. Hell, I'll even throw in a spicy bit here.

The two most well known ones you mentioned in the NFL are long running coaches of teams that comprise half of the top 4 most winning teams since 2000. Eagles are 6th, and we had a big part of this century with a generational coach.

It was objectively hilarious. My favorite part is when Maddox runs a pick play on Eli Ricks

I’m sorry, but I don’t know why anybody thinks Jim Harbaugh is going to come to the Eagles and want to be here without having player personnel decisions. That was one of the sticking points when he left San Francisco. He’s at Michigan and he controls everything. So if he’s going to leave Michigan he is likely going to take the Chargers job because he has Justin Herbert and they’re going to give them power with player personnel.

It's a wishlist but yes I should have stopped naming them after Vrabel. Truth is I want one of Slowik or Johnson with Bobby at the head of the list.

Has there been any white smoke from the novacare chimney yet? Come on Lurie, hand out pink slips.

I don’t think so and I don’t think there’s going to be. Which is just madness and is going to waste everyone’s time next year.

Wasters. Sirianni and his band of useless men.

Nothing will happen for a few days.  Lurie and Howie will meet with Sirianni first, and I can't see them firing Johnson while he has three head coaching interviews lined up.  Desai and Patricia could go at any time, though.

Makes sense.

then we all need to be very concerned.

Days after final game of season Lurie has fired coaches:

  • Kotite: 2 days (Black Monday, their final game was a Saturday)
  • Rhodes: 1 day (Black Monday)
  • Reid: 1 day (Black Monday)
  • Chip: 5 days before the final game of the season
  • Doug: 8 days (not Black Monday, the following Monday)

Probably counts the times a receiver moves  a foot then back to his position, lol.

Everyone here talks about Andy Reid, but he wasn't an offensive genius when the Eagles hired him -- he was an OL/TE coach for the most part, with a couple of years as QB coach to Brett Favre.  He picked up from Mike Holmgren, for sure -- but it isn't like he came to Philly as a genius offensive mind.

I think they are counting when we are in silent count and Jurgens lets Kelce know Hurts is ready for the snap

Yea I guess if we fire johnson now we lose on the potential 2 third rounders for the rooney rule.

Exactly. I said before the game, if the team is embarrassed again like the past weeks, then Sirianni has to go, even with his record. If they had won and lost a close game at Detroit, then I could’ve seen things differently. They completely gave up and you can’t go into the new season with that type of animosity.

Doug won them a Super Bowl and likely would have stayed had he been willing to replace some of his coaches, so that explains the 8 days.

I’m moving back north in a couple of weeks, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about not having to shell out $400+ to watch the Birds anymore.

Ehh, he always had a great offensive mind.  Basically brought in the West Coast offense - which isn’t easy to run, design etc - probably among the most complicated offenses at the time, tbh.

It will be today or tomorrow.  No time to waste.

It has to be today or tomorrow but it won’t be. I really don’t see it.

We will know very soon.  I can't see any other outcome.

Regardless of whether he should or not, Lurie does care about the optics from media and the fanbase. I think he cans sirianni
