Joe Santoliquito is back!

The most interesting thing he reported: Desai was a Howie hire and it was Sirianni’s call to give more power to Patricia.

Who is right? There are all these "sources."  The last couple weeks everyone has believed the opposite: Howie hired Patricia, it was reported his office is next to Howie's and Siri didn't want to make the change to Patricia that was forced on him.

Now "NFL Sources dish" about the opposite. Everyone just believes every tweet and report without examining it. People cite "sources close to the situation" and the narrative changes week to week.

Hurts doesn't audible enough, now he audibles too much. The play calling sucks, it's BJ's fault. Or it's Siri's fault. Or it's Howie and the analytics telling them what to do the coaches have no say. Now it's Hurts is calling audibles and confusing the receivers.

Granted the team is a mess, but all these theories and rumors about the team can't possibly be true when they contradict each other.

So was Siri wanting Wilson and Howie was pushing Desai? I know there was like a week where they were deciding between the 2 of them and they finally settled on Desai.

Siri pulled the plug on Desai and then the whole thing fell apart. If the report is true, it looks like Howie made the better decision since Patricia did significantly worse.

I'm pretty sure there was a report Sirianni and Wilson had a blow up during their search, so I don't know if he ever wanted him.

For those who hate Lurie, remember he got us a Super Bowl and spends like crazy, not just for players but for coaches and FO staff.

And Kraft needs that extra cheddar - those happy endings don't pay for themselves!

What's interesting is Desai seemed like he was improving at one point, at least by seemingly making halftime adjustments. They held the Dolphins offense to 10 points (their other points were a pick 6), and they held both the Dolphins and Chiefs to 0 points in the 2nd half.

I'm not saying Desai is great or should be back, but he was clearly better than Patricia. He had garbage at LB to work with. Dean got hurt who was actually helpful against the run, Cunningham was hurt at times as well. Bradberry was awful, Maddox was hurt again of course and he was working with rookies and undrafted free agents in the secondary next to Slay.

They need to bring in an experienced DC with a different scheme, and also address the roster big time.

Last week the reports were Siri fired Wilson, Howie hired Patricia and Siri didn't want him but Howie forced the change. So one tweet with "NFL sources dish" has changed the narrative completely. Interesting.

I said it throughout the season, Hurts looked like he did not have confidence in the plays being called.  He didn't have the same confident look in his eyes, sometimes he would be shaking his head. The receivers looked disappointed as well. You saw it on the series of long yardage running 3 plays in a row of QB runs and a dumb screen or whatever that play call was.

Hurts regressed and made bad decisions, and deserves blame. But you look at how the coaching also affected other players. The linemen regressed, at times Hurts was running for his life and almost no one is talking about it or calling them out the way they are Hurts. The pocket was collapsing very quickly many times.  When that happens to any QB they get nervous and more inclined to leave the pocket when they don't trust the O line. Especially with teams sending blitz more often and Sirianni doing absolutely nothing valid to address it. People just blame Hurts for running, well he's running for his life half the time as well. Receivers bumping into each other isn't Hurts fault.

People have criticized the play calling all year, we've wanted BJ fired since early in the season. Hurts also made a lot of throws both in the pocket and scrambling but some people don't want to give him credit for anything. He made some dumb decisions too and he has to own that and improve. But Hurts is the guy, and played great with Steichen last year so they need to get a better OC in here and redesign the playbook. With Brown, Smith, Goedert and Swift the offense should have been #1 all year and dominating.

I’ve said this for a couple weeks now, because we are going to get a new offensive coordinator. We are going to find out a lot about Jalen hurts in 2024 and what decisions the eagles have to make going forward. If Jalen hurts looks like 2022 Jalen hurts then everything is going to be fine. you still have your quarterback that is good enough to win a Super Bowl and get to a Super Bowl as he could play at that level. However, if he looks closer to 2021 and 2023 jalen hurts then we have to have a discussion that 2022 might have been the outlier in his career. Similar to Carson Wentz where he had three years surrounding 2017 and that 2017 was likely not achievable anymore as it was the outlier. So looking at 2024 and the entire picture of 2021-2024 is going to show us a lot about hurts, where the eagles stand at Qb and what the Eagles are going to do going forward.

this is the reality. You can still love him. You can hate him. You can say he can be 2022 again. You can say he’s just not going to get back there. But 2024 is going to show you where exactly he is compared to his other 3 seasons as a starter

Interviewed or offered? I know they interviewed Minter but didn’t go with him.

Zach Ertz just signed with the Lions. Their LaPorta backup was hurt. Gives me even more reason to cheer for the Lions.

So when does Lowie pick the coaches.  We all know Nick wont be picking any.

Hurts at least has weapons to throw to in the down years. Wentz had scrubs he was throwing to lol

Does the Rooney Rule apply to coordinator positions or just HC?

I don’t disagree. I said going into the 2020 season, their plan at wide receiver was awful. Relying on three rookies, 2 injury prone declining wide receivers was an idiotic plan. And it turned out to be. Besides the fact, Carson Wentz hit rock bottom. Their plan to fix the wide receiver group was absolutely ridiculously. And i got crap for it when i said it before the season started

Nope. Hasn't been a DC for 14 years now. He's a dinosaur who isn't going to bring anything new or exciting to the table.
