Having a DC you don't have to babysit IS valuable for a head coach. Shanahan, McVay, Reid, etc. all do it.

Is Rivera good enough to leave alone? That's the issue.

Didn't Doug do it with Schwartz?

You mean sitting on the end of the bench not interacting with any teammates isn't good? I like that Hurts is even keel but at the same time, I'd really like to see him be more involved in going over things throughout the game. Talk and listen to your teammates about what you see and what they see. Maybe he does, but we never see it. It's always the exact same thing. Hurts sitting on the end of the bench, staring straight ahead, emotionless not talking to anyone.

A quick look in on QB1 during the offseason...

Wasn't Schwartz hired before Doug was?  I think that was an arranged marriage by Howie. I seem to remember something odd with the timing of his hire.

If siranni were fired today, who would be lining up to hire him for their vacant HC position? Or even OC? That answer is no one. Lurie doing the team a disservice keeping him around

Chargers

and they'd give good picks in a trade for him.

You shouldnt be so sure about that.

It's true.   Rich Kotite was hired by Leon Hess immediately after being fired by the Eagles... because Leon Hess said, "I'm 80 years old and I want to win now."   That didn't end well for Leon.

do you want the head coach to throw the ball, too?

Is Brian Johnson the HC now?

What about Leslie Frazier?

Could be the best option

It looked like to me that they didn't want to tackle, not that they couldn't.

Pete Carmichael is available, and the Saints were 9th in points scored in the post-Payton era.  Eagles would be well served to interview him.

Pretty happy that didn't happen if it's true

You can't seriously be blaming the defense for a loss where they only gave up 20 points and the offense couldn't do jack Fing ish all game. Hurts was 17/31 for 143 yards, no TDs and 2 INTs and you're saying the defense was the problem in that game because of the last drive?

Trying to figure out who to blame with this team... offense/defense... does it make a difference?

"You suck."
"No, you suck."

"stealing TDs"...love the narrative here #clowntake

It’s legitimately the most clownish ‘criticism’ of Hurts that’s out there.

I guess it’s week to week. Most of the time it’s the defense for sure. The offense sputtered at key moments as well. A complete disjointed effort on both sides.

The innovative mind has to want to come here.  With the current Eagles D, why bother?  An innovative DC will require assurances of improving the LB and DB talent.  Can't cover NFL WRs with 5 undrafted free agents.

That depends.  Can we put 5 undrafted free agents on each one?

What's innovative about having an option or two against an obvious blitz?

Just give me someone who knows what the hell they're doing please

If you want an innovator, look at the defense. You'd have to be a damn genius to work with the garbage we have in our back 7.

Or a madman?

Ok.   Then let's remove the automatic 1st down on a DB defensive holding.  Give the 5 yards, but remove the automatic 1st.

While we're at it, remove the spot foul nature of DPI and make it a 15 yard penalty like college.

Only the Jets would fire a coach that lost 5 in a row to end a season and then hire a coach that lost 7

God that team would have been 17-0

Back up the truck.  His name was JIM Johnson.  Never Jimmy.  NEVER.

Remove automatic first on any play. If the yardage of the penalty doesn’t satisfy the distance to go, it shouldn’t reset from 4th down to 1st down lol. Been saying these for years, the worst rules in football. Especially for holding/illegal contact. Yardage penalty and replay the down.

There’s no offensive penalty that automatically goes to 3rd or 4th down.
