What is the difference between the Hurts contract and Wentz?  Somehow, Howie got us out of that one.

This is what it looks like to trade him

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

A grain of salt to keep in mind with the "hot" DC candidates in Atlanta and Carolina is that the NFC south didn't play against many good offenses within their own division or the rest of their schedule in 2023. And tended to get lit up when they did. So, yeah, they might have been doing more with less...while also facing less. Just food for thought.

Why are we interviewing non-serious candidates while the most options are available lol?

The eagles are tied to hurts at least until 2026 offseason with how that contract is. Good or bad that’s basically the reality. Hoping he winds up being like 2022 otherwise likely going to be a couple years where we are in purgatory

I wasn't suggesting now. I was saying when the contract makes it less of a team killer. He's already said he's a temporary fan. I was curious if he'd say that he's stick around or just go to another team

Went contact was only 4 years, much easier to eat that contract for a tease or two. Plus the team who takes Over doesn’t have the dead money.

Hurts contract is heavily backloaded, to secure us a window now, and will be tough to move.

Trading Hurts would be idiotic for so many reasons.

That answers that. Thanks. I have my doubts that he returns to 2022 version, but I am rooting for it.  There sure is something to be said for not getting hitched to these contracts for QBs.

Hurts is it for awhile. Need to get him some better coaching and get back to the SB

His real name is Jack Daniel McKinstry

A lot of Hurts INTs were incredible interceptions to be fair. He was also hamstrung by a terrible running scheme and completely atrocious passing design that ignored 40% of the field 90% of the time.

Maybe, but he was also in a position to constantly have to be aggressive because the defense would get shredded in the 2nd half.  It's hard not to think that some of those losses of personnel on defense were tied to his contract though.  It's a vicious cycle with the QB tying up so much cap. Last year, we could jump up and lean on running and defense.  Not so much this year, although Swift had a nice year.

Remove automatic first on any play. If the yardage of the penalty doesn’t satisfy the distance to go, it shouldn’t reset from 4th down to 1st down lol. Been saying these for years, the worst rules in football. Especially for holding/illegal contact. Yardage penalty and replay the down.

There’s no offensive penalty that automatically goes to 3rd or 4th down.

Agreed on on removing the automatic first downs for minor penalties. I'm fine with DPI being a spot foul though

Yeah they aren’t trading him. Even post June 1st cut wouldn’t help them financially until after 2025. Essentially hurts is here through 2025. At that point if he’s not 2022 version i think that’s when they move on

What are you going to do if we move on from Hurts after his contract is up because he's still playing like 2023?

who is the QB?   If it's a running QB replacing Hurts, and it's a run first offense,  I'm good. If Howie is still bringing in the versatile freakbeasts, I'm good.

My background over the last 10 years is moving away, generally slowly, when the reason I'm there is gone.  Yet I currently have 5 tabs on my browser open for message boards for 4 teams.  I don't really post on or even read the message boards for 2 of the 4 teams.   So,  if the past is an indication,  what would happen?  Probably would cut down on my Eagles message board tabs to 1.  Slide the tab over one or 2 spots next to the other teams I generally don't pay attention to.

When is Hurts contract up?  Years from now.  If Hurts wasn't signed,  this would be his 5th year,  and it would be time to sign him or tag him.   I've been here 3 years,  you're asking what might happen after 2028?   I just looked at spotrac,  and it seems like he is signed through 2028.

What are all the options available everywhere in the NFL at any given time? It takes time to learn who the high school running QBs are on any given teams roster.  And I'm not flipping around on a yearly basis.   I'll continue paying attention to the teams I currently pay attention to until other teams consistently do the things I want to see more than the teams I'm paying attention to.   Sometimes I'm still paying attention to teams despite the fact that they no longer have the reason I'm there,  generally because there is no new team that is clearly more compelling to me.

There was still plenty of dead Wentz money they had to eat.
