After he was benched.  Can’t blame a kid for that, especially if he feels it would sabotage his chances of becoming an NFL player.

How many backup college QB’s become 2nd round draft picks?

So, what you are saying is that there are circumstances which would lead one who doesn't have it in their DNA to quit... to actually quit and go elsewhere, if it were in his best interest.    I agree.   If the circumstances were right... he could certainly look for greener pastures.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

1.  That would be unprecedented in NFL history

2.  They'd have just fired Sirianni instead of doing that.  THAT would be dysfunction.

Errr.  Not quite.  Teams name co-head coaches all-the-time.  The Eagles literally named Duce Staley co-head coach here.  (Assistant head coach - same difference)

Why do you feel that way?

Because he's a Ravens 'fan'.   Why do people respond to him?   And a troll... or delusional.  One or the other.

Welp Flyers fans...things were going so well. Let's hope everything is OK on his end.

There really isn't much of a drop off to Ersson.

If he’s benched that’s one thing.  But if he’s still the starting QB of the Eagles, he’s not quitting on the team.   Huge difference there, my friend.

Duce was an assistant head coach, not co-head coach.  What you're suggesting the Eagles will do is give a coordinator functionally equal footing to Sirianni -- which is never going to happen.

I’m also doubting sirianni would stay to be co-head coach. The one thing they’ll do is give rivera total control on defense which is what they did with Schwartz and Doug.

I edited my post to reflect assistant head coach.   And yes, if they bring in a defensive coordinator I could totally see them giving him the title of assistant head coach because he would have autonomy over the defense.

Okay, that I agree with.  Sorry if I misunderstood.

He should give thanks every single day that twitter and podcasts exist. If it didn't what would he do? Somehow he lucked in to covering the Eagles and has access to the team and all he has to do is sit on his phone and tweet out absurd stuff.

Somehow, 140k follow him. His bio states "a bad take is better than no take at all" so he openly admits he is full of bad takes. Makes me also wonder how much of it does he truly believe or how much of his content is just to get clicks?

Has he ever had a sports column and written articles? How does someone who tweets go to a job interview? Look at these 140 characters I wrote back in 2015. It's gold!

In the hot take era I guess frauds like him can find a career. That's the only thing that makes sense. The thing is he isn't even particularly good at being a hot take guy.

I think this is the path, just hopefully not Rivera.  Nothing against him per se, but 13 years as a head coach is a long time to go straight back into a coordinator role.  I don't think it's the right move for the Eagles.

We already have an assistant head coach AND an associate head coach. I’m not sure either are leaving either.

It won’t be Rivera.  Just a guess.

What about lieutenant head coach?

I guess we’ll need to name him assistant head coach 2.0

Yeah I’m not a rivera person. I think game has past him by. Even before the trades this year his defense was giving up 29 ppg and clueless

Assistant TO the Head Coach.

I mean....one would think the new OC and DC would want their own position coaches to a large extent as well....as long as Stoutland stays everything is ok.

I’m surprised Sirianni hasn’t pitched Mike McCoy for OC yet

an offense adapted to the limitations of your QB.

He's a running QB,   and offense adapted to the QB is going to have big running backs,  big fullbacks,  a lot of blocking.

The Eagles system is not adapted to a running QB,  it's as if Siri thinks that Jalen Hurts is Philip Rivers.   Siri and Shane weren't hired because they had any experience at all with running QBs.   Most years,  Siri and Shane were coaching Philip Rivers.   The Chargers and Colts did not have running QBs.

Is it hard for an expert on running QBs and a strong run game to take  top young running QB and win almost always,  immediately?   No,  not at all.   Jalen Hurts didn't get wins right away,  it took 3 years.

Lamar Jackson,  however,  with Greg Roman as OC,  started his rookie year with a 6-1 record while breaking the NFL records for the most carries in a game.   The next year,  Lamar goes 13-2,  the Ravens are the #1 seed,  and Lamar wins the MVP.

Run first offense with running QBs wins immediately.   Trying to make a running QB into a generic NFL passer doesn't win immediately.  Did work with Hurts in year 3.   Running QBs are best,  but most NFL coaches don't know what to do with them.

I don’t see Sirianni being a long term option. Even if he’s not fired, he’s going to be burned out sooner or later. Never saw a coach look like complete dogish through the week and somehow managing to top it every year.

Why I don't get why  he is getting another shot. Interviewing Caldwell for DC like what are we doing

Siri is getting another shot because he does what Lowie says.  And we are interviewing MC as a favor since he is a friend of the team.  Siri doesn't know squat about defense (or maybe offense for that matter) so the new DC will be a rockstar.

Or any other real or perceived slight.   He's still about number 1.   It's a business, after all.  He'll do what is in his best interest.

Man, I'm nervous as hell about this.  We have to correct this dysfunction or we will end up having a 5-12 season next year.
