Ok I love the Barkley deal

Intriguing choice.

Good chance he gets this job.

- Shanahan tree
- NFL experience
- Limited ties to Eagles (in training camp)
- Coached with Sirianni in Indy

The Chargers have been "close" with Harbaugh for a week and Atlanta has been "close" with Belichick for a week and neither have been hired yet. Wondering if there's more going on here than being reported.

Waiting for Sirianni to become available.

Out of curiosity, who should be held responsible for the mess that the coaching staff is?   Is not that part of the GM's purview?   If not him, then who?

Roseman just seems to be the Teflon Don.   He gets credit for the good moves, but the bad moves were just bad luck.   He gets credit for rebuilding the roster to get to the Super Bowl, but doesn't get held responsible when that roster crumbles immediately after.  He gets credit for finding a good coach... until that coach crumbles.   Then its just bad luck for Howie.  He gets credit for great cap management... until the cap issues catch up and he couldn't afford to retain the players that he let walk, and tried to replace with dollar store display items.

Howie is a top 10 GM in some aspects... and a bottom 10 GM in others.

Overall he's the best GM in the league. 2nd best of you insist on the Chiefs being better.

They all have misses.

Agree.

The Eagles front office doesn't have an identity and philosophy for coaching. They look for the head coach to set the identity and philosophy. It does make sense to let the HC do the coaching, but they change and overcorrect with each hire. The only philosophy Howie has is the one he kept from Andy Reid: build through the lines (agree, always good) and Lurie want's an explosive offense.  Howie has had to learn on the job how to draft and every couple years or so, he chases a new theme or trend. Speed, drafting multiple WRs to see what sticks, finding clones of veterans and passing on better players, now he's focusing on SEC and championship teams which is good to get from more pro ready schools but he's hyperfocused on that now too.

With coaches they change what they're looking for each time. Reid's offense had gone stale, they hired Chip to bring an innovative offense. They were completely stupid to let Chip take full control. Chip was bad with players so they went for emotional intelligence with Doug. Doug didn't want to change so they went with young up and coming coordinators. Siri replaced Gannon and Steichen with inexperienced guys, now they're focused on experienced guys.

They need to have philosophy and values and then make every hire, scouting decision, player personnel decision against those. Yes, you want to progress and grow and adapt with the game and keep up with NFL trends, but still have some core philosophies.

Depends on the scope, if you're just talking about the next season or two, then: Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, and maybe Stafford

If your outlook is the next 3+ years, then same as above but swap out Stafford for Stroud

Rooney rule complete for both OC and DC. Hire could come anytime now.

Again I think Rivera and Kingsbury are the 1st choices. Though I am intrigued by Johnson. I doubt the Eagles hire a guy who hasn’t called plays. Siri proved he can’t do it if the OC fails.

I meant long-term. I think the four that I 100% would take over Jalen would be Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar, and Josh Allen. I think the next group is where you can make questionable calls.

I would take CJ Stroud simply because that rookie contract for the next four seasons, and he’s going to keep getting better. I’m curious to see what Justin herbert looks like with better coaching. I think unfortunately he’s had bad coaching from the head coach since coming to the league. I think coaching there has been worse than what we’ve gotten here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Herbert makes a bigger leap than people think when he finally gets a coach like a Jim Harbaugh.

I wouldn’t take Tua over Jalen hurts. I’m also not as high on tua as other people. I will say this next year if Jordan love makes another jump then I think I would take Jordan Love over Jalen hurts. At this point I can’t do that.

Maybe it happened when he jumped out of the box and his Timberlands saved him from breaking his back on that concrete step.

Mahomes

Burrow

Maybe Herbert. I can't tell if he's being held back or just not it

No to Allen. He may make some amazing throws but he also has a habit of making bad decisions. Also waiting for the wear and tear on his body from breaking those tackles

Johnson - QB Coach - No OC playcalling NFL experience - 1 year of young QB success

Johnson - QB Coach - No OC playcalling NFL experience - 1 year of young QB success

So essentially Hurts is a top 5 or 6 QB in the league based on the amount of QBs guys would choose over him.

That's a guy you build around. It's very hard to replace a starting QB with a true "franchise" guy. He played at an MVP level last year and even his haters were impressed with his leap from the previous season.

He's not going anyhere. They have a great core of roster on offense and they need better offensive coaching to make the offense see it's potential. The defense needs an overhaul and major change in philosophy and coaching.

Hurts has issues and regressed. So did other players, and coaches. Even the O line had issues this year and no one is calling for their heads. At times Hurts was running for his life because the pocket collapsed immediately. The coaches did absolutely nothing to handle the blitz. Aikman, Manning, Acho and others have presented very clearly how the coaching has been awful. Other teams' players have said how predictable the coaching is.

Hurts made some dumb decisions and bad plays. But he's the guy, they're going to continue to build around him. Need better coaching, line play and yes he also needs to step up and play better.

Rooney Rule is only for HC and senior FO jobs.

Both of those options would suck for this team and keep us exactly where we were last season, or worse

Kelce will be coming back then. He won’t go out with a bum knee and crappy overall season.

Another prediction for the press conference:

There will be fans who won't be able to watch because it's during a work day, and they won't take the time to watch the whole thing on YouTube later. There will be tweets and articles taking quotes out of context, leaving things out on purpose or spun to be misleading and there will be fans to get upset without hearing the full context.

LITERALLY the entire team regressed. Siriani has 2 season where we passed to the middle of the field 9 & 11% of the time. That is absolutely atrocious. His answer for the blitz has to be the middle of the field.

The running scheme and commitment regressed. The offensive scheme is stale. The defensive scheme is soft and stale.

If the whole team regressed why is anyone even touching the idea of removing a top 10 QB? The dude responsible for 38 TDs can’t be where we look to improve lmao.

On second thought, I probably would take Burrow over Hurts. Initially I felt he had benefitted from a system and talent around him, but obviously you can make the exact same argument for Hurts, and reversing the roles, I think Burrow does better here than Hurts does there, so Burrow gets the nod. I don't understand anyone putting Tua above Hurts though for the same reasons. I think Hurts would put up gaudy numbers in a Mike McDaniel system.

No. The Rooney Rule is also for coordinator positions as well.

I hope Kingsbury isn't the choice. He stinks.  Rivera would be OK.
