He's not gonna come out and say to the press and public, "yeah our LBers sucked donkey D all year. If it was up to me, I'd throw them all down a manhole and weld it shut." Like JFC, I don't know why people think these PC's are going to be full of candor. They never are.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Sounds like they're still banking on Dean being that guy. Hate to break it to them, but not gonna happen.

Certainly can't pencil him in as a starting LB next season. The problem is the LB free agent class is awful. It's basically Patrick Queen, who's like the weak link of the Ravens LBs and hasn't been bad but hasn't lived up to the 1st round pick, or old guys like Lavonte David or Bobby Wagner. Good draft class though, they might finally have to invest a high pick in one.

Much better free agent class for safeties.

Tells you all you need to know, really. McDaniel undoubtedly has had countless exchanges with his own DC to get ideas on how defenses might defend some of his plays and concepts, and if he came away feeling less than impressed, then what is there to know? And between the two of them, I trust McDaniel's opinion far more than Lurie, Howie, or Nick's. Should be interesting to see where the Dolphins go from here.

Isn't Desai a Fangio style DC and didn't he shut down Miami's offense?  Perhaps Fangio told him what he didn't want to hear.

Mark me down as not a fan of a Fangio hire. I would’ve like a philosophy change on the defensive side of the ball. The offense doesn’t need a major overhaul, but this defense and their style is just crap. Welcome to another year of softness. Miami had injuries, but they were also known as soft.
It’s a joke that Howie actually thinks this defense, thinking back 7, has a lot of talent. Him mentioning Cunningham and that he actually had a good year means nothing, since it wasn’t hard for him to „shine" with the other slop that they put out there. He was the only one who was capable of tackling on a regular basis. On how many other teams would he start on?!

Fangio is fine, but I'll need to see who they bring in as assistants on defense.  Fangio looks older than his 65 years and they'd best have a successor in place.

FWIW Dolphins fans really liked the job Fangio did for them and are mad to see him leave. Last time I checked what a fan base thought of an Eagles acquisition was Byard and they were sad to see him go but said his play dropped off. Turned out to be right.

If you can't get excited about Fangio, I don't know what to tell you. He's still got it man. Did some really fun stuff with a Dolphins' D that was battered and bruised.

This kid should be up for our offensive coordinator job. He created the annexation of Puerto Rico and impressed John Madden. That’s good enough for me. He’s also more mature now

The lone Dolphins fan I know was shocked by the news but felt the defense was average at best

I was just looking into Dolphins fan’s reactions. They all seem really upset he is leaving.

Fangio. It's probably a fine hire, and definitely an improvement from Desai/Pencil, but...just so disappointing at the same time.

Every time I see her I think of Showgirls.. what a classic. Worst acting of all time but some solid one liners

Minter would've been the only exciting hire to me. But then there's the risk of him leaving to be a coach in a year and also bringing anyone from college is always a risk. He would've been my top choice though, but I can get why they didn't go in that direction. And he might be committed to following Harbaugh anyway.

I'd much rather have Fangio than Wink Martindale though or Rivera.

Interesting stats. Still not a fan.

Javon Holland, Jalen Ramsey, Xavien Howard, DeShon Elliott....that's some secondary compared to the Eagles.

One thing he has done is he's made former Eagle STer Duke Riley a respectable LB.

Not going to lie I’m actually happy they’re willing to bring in a new system for offense

I'll believe it when I see it.

Looking at Dolphins Defensive Team stats quickly

66.9% completion percentage (5th worst in NFL) however 18th most passing yards given up.  However 8th most defensive passing TD's given up

3.8 yards per carry given up (5th best in NFL) and 7th fewest yards/game on the ground.  However 19th most TD's given up on the ground

11th most points per game given up.

Well, he's already been pretty bad at game day decision making. Not sure why it would change at all.

Because he wouldn’t be pestering the OC about bad plays to run so he can focus on those details.
