  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Boy, the Hollands really didn’t like Fangio.

Part of Fangio’s remit should be to develop an heir

Yeah the announcement of his departure from the Dolphins also included how he was expected to be the Eagles DC.  No tampering there

His departure was mutual.  Remember that part?

Interesting note. Sounds like maybe Fangio wanted to back out of his agreement with Miami last year…

Omar Kelly is unreliable in Dolphins circles FYI.

But Fangio is absolutely rigid.

I don’t think he ever wanted to leave. His wife is from the area and he enjoyed being with the eagles in the role they had for him and knew if Gannon got a HC he was gonna get the Dc job. If Gannon was upfront about the cardinals, he likely would’ve waited to see if Gannon got the cardinals job before committing to Miami.

Yeah I can't really defend this. Thing is, it's not even about Fangio. It's more about the fans combined with Fangio. They do this, it basically nullifies the point of doing in in terms of PR. If you have Fangio, only way you keep the fans quiet (Fangio scheme makes Philadelphia fans rip their hair out) is to make the SB basically every year, which is impossible.

You'd be better off getting Martindale or Rivera for that reason alone. Howie kind of alluded to the FO, in fact, having influence on the scheme staying the same on defense. So I think I get where all this is coming from. I don't think Fangio is washed, it's probably a situation similar to the Steichen one, or Schwartz, where only a few guys can run the scheme now. But at the same time, this will never work with the fans, and worse - we don't have the roster to field a top defense immediately with the same scheme.

It's more or less setting yourself up for failure optics wise before you even begin. The real problem is, if this is coming from FO like it seems, we're basically Fed (in terms of fan optics) no matter what we do, because it means they can't see in big picture. I mentioned before all the top 3 coaches are incompatible with Howie, and then if this is happening the way it seems to be, then there's a problem upstairs too. Which is...very bad.

This clown is our HC. He starts the answer with "I guess..."

WTF did we do to deserve this?

I’ve read he’s unreliable in terms of analysis but not necessarily reporting. And it’s pretty clear that Ramsey, Holland and Cam Smith are thrilled he’s gone.

It's kind of out of context if you watch the video. The answer before this he basically said they want a collaboration partner in the building. Unfortunately, Nick is still really bad at the podium, so he more or less chases himself into a corner when he just gave the answer to that same question before.

Definitely not the guy who took debate before, RIP.

🤣

Remember when the reports about Fangio accepting the Dolphins job last year came out, it didn't become official until several weeks later. There was speculation he would back out and sign with the Eagles since he never officially signed. He probably wanted to, but didn't want to ruin his reputation.

I don't know what happened behind the scenes.  Sometimes issues can't just be fixed in an instant.  Wouldn't be the first time a team had high expectations and didn't play well for several weeks all while the fans asking why isn't it getting fixed.

I don't know if there were some bad locker room guys.   Maybe the locker room was divided over something.

All I know is the defense was embarrassing down the stretch and it looked like they just gave up.  Coaches are at fault but if the players suck or don't give enough effort then they should be gone.

To me it's no excuse for the players to quit or give lackluster effort because they don't like the coaches.  They were in a playoff game.

There were a lot of things that could have been done to fix it. Fans, media, announcers, analysts all season broke down the mistakes and the simple ways to fix them.

Siri didn't do anything.

Man, a Blue Streak reference!

Watch us draft him in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Time really is a flat f'in circle

I’m pretty sure I remember it took a long ass time for him to put pen to paper to become the highest paid DC in the league last year. Like over a week from when it leaked he was the Dolphins choice. So it adds up.

I know. We all have our ideas and thoughts on how to fix things.  Doesn't mean it will work.

Would I have liked to see them run more? Yes.  Would I have liked to see less WR screens or Hurts QB draws?  Yes.  Was Siri calling these?  Was BJ calling these?   Was Jalen changing anything?  We know Jalen and AJ would go rogue sometimes.  AJ admitted such happened at the end of the Seattle game.

Hey, Joe Barry is available for DC!

Won't be the DC here but is a name to watch as LB coach if Fangio comes on as DC.

He was on staffs with Siriani at Chargers so there is a connection to him as well, in addition to obviously being from the Fangio branch of D. Has worked for Staley and Pagano both of whom Fangio is close to.

It’s gonna be a miserable next 8 or so months in here, isn’t it?

With Fangio at DC he might just bring in that upcoming Sean Desai fella.
