Now... throwing a snowball at an opposing WR during a play in the end zone... that's just being engaged in the game.

Meh.  I just think it’s better to move on with all that stuff.

I’ve never worried about going to a game in Tampa wearing my Eagles jersey because I know the vast majority of Tampa fans are cool and respectful to opposing team’s fans.  (There are exceptions) but the vast majority are there to root their team on and pretty much leave us Eagles fans alone.

How often does that happen at the Linc?  lol

Yep.  That’s what happens with DB’s. (Even look at Bradberry this season)  When they hit a certain age/injury wall - they tend to drop and drop fast.

It’s the main they used to have a never sign DB’s to deals after they get close to 30 during the Banner years.  That philosophy changed during the Howie years mostly due to the disaster of what happened after they let Dawk walk.  Probably one of the worst player/personnel decisions in franchise history.

That said, it might not be a bad idea to bring that philosophy back - with exceptions to long term elite players.

The bigger issue is since 2016 the highest drafted they spent on corner was Sidney Jones in the second round who was coming off an Achilles tear. They got Jalen Carter, so I can’t really get upset about that. But if Carter didn’t fall to them they should have taken Christian Gonzalez. And i strongly think they’d have traded out then looked for another DT or OL. Even Andy Reid took Trent McDuffie in the first round.
And besides Sidney Jones, they took Rasul Douglas in the third and maddox/Ringo in the fourth. Those are the next two highest. So really, you’ve only drafted one in the first two rounds in the last 8 years. And you haven’t drafted a corner in the first round since lito. Hard to find corners in the middle rounds when we aren’t good at identifying and then developing if we do identify.

this also goes to linebacker. They’ve drafted zero linebackers in the first two rounds since 2013. They drafted Davion Taylor in the third round when he was a project. He probably should’ve went fifth or sixth round considering how much of a project he was. The only other linebacker they drafted in the first three rounds was Jordan Hicks who was injury prone in college. Even Andy Reid has taken two linebackers in the 2nd round over the last five years. He took Bolton and gay. You have to adapt with your philosophy to how the game is played today. We’re not in the early 2000s anymore. You need linebacker play.

Harbaugh is the only guy I would want.  We know what we're getting with him.

If he was hired here, I'd tell Howie to take his weasel face and get out of the way and let Jim do his thing.

If Washington or Dallas hires him it will suck.

Bradberry need to be cut. He’s an absolute liability.

along with literally all the LBs

Good news: Morrow, Cunningham and Leonard are all on one-year deals. So that part of the problem is already taken care of. The other issue is who the GM will be able to replace them with.

While I agree we should be wary of 30+ CBs, going from 2nd team all-pro to the worst CB in football is one hell of an outlier event.

It is. But the problem is this you already had a 32-year-old corner on the roster. You can’t have two 30+ Corners playing significant snaps and expect both to stay healthy or have some type of regression. Slay got hurt and bradberry super regressed (frankly based off Bradberry’s career he always has an up season, followed by a down season. It’s been his trend for years now). Sheil talked about this during the off-season. Statistically one of them was either going to not stay healthy or was going to decline at that age. I personally I would’ve just rather over paid for CJGJ because he was young and I knew we were going to get the best years out of him. He’s a dbag but frankly this team needs that personality. To me, you could keep one of slay or bradberry but not both. I probably would’ve kept slay, because even though he got hurt, I think there was less chance he was going to have a massive decline as compared to what Bradberry‘s career had shown.

They probably won't since they never do, but it'll be a mistake. They need to remake the entire DB room. No one remotely stands out as a stud and their best player is at the very end of his career. They haven't drafted one in the first round since Lito. It's unsustainable if they want a quality secondary. You can't rely on piecing it together with trades and free agency. They've invested enough in the DL in recent years. They need to give it a break and let those guys do what you drafted them to do. But the secondary talent long term is just lacking.

Im going to keep saying this over over.

2017 eagles had the least amount of money in the league allocated to CB.

Mills was a 7th rounder, P rob was s low cost off season signing who almost got cut in camp. The other corner Darby was on his rookie contract missed half the season with an early injury then both Rasul and sydney on their rookie deals.

At safety they were top 5 in money allocated to safety with jenkins making top money Mcleod making good money and the 3rd safety graham making more than some of the corners then maragos as the 4th and special team captain was making more than some of the corners

Howie stated that their analytics supported that model.

Fast forward to the past couple years and theyve done the opposite handing out big contracts to older players in slay and bradberry and extending always hurt maddox while totally ignoring safety.

Safeties generally cost a lot less than corners and for a defense they do more  in todays pass heavy league, especially if they can line up in the slot like Jenkins did.

Not sure when or why howie went away from cheaper alternatives at safety and costlier older alternatives at corner.

Corners tend to fall off a cliff. His was made worse by the awful scheme/calls

I don't follow college enough, but here's what I came up with for the first 3 picks.  I mostly just went position on defense and used the site rankings.

Did Dallas fire McCarthy yet?  I would take him in heartbeat if he’s willing to take a coordinator position/co head coach. He did absolute wonders with Dak while in Dallas.

Imagine this scenario:

Bill Belichick as head coach/co head coach  - takes on all defensive duties/defensive player personnel decisions, etc - instant top 10-15 NFL defense.

Mike McCarthy offensive coordinator/ co head coach, with some offensive player decisions with Howie, etc

Match made in heaven.

Chargers, eagles, Dallas, falcons make your choice

The falcons are a dumpster fire and I don't know much about the chargers.
But the eagles and cowboys seem to have issues with meddling/controlling FO's.

Eagles would be the best fit because he wouldn’t really need to worry about the offense, imo.  As long as we got a top tiered offensive coordinator.

agreed.  cheap QB.   I'll fill my roster with cheap running QBs so much so that I don't even have a QB. Running QBs,  and I'd want a legit big running back.  Mariota is cheap and he was able to get 10 points in a half.  Not great,  but mid.  He costs $5M this year.

As much as I like a running qb that QB still needs to win with his arm.

Foles didnt win running around making wild plays with his feet, he made plays with his arm.

Mariota hasnt shown that he can consistently make plays with his arm

Id prefer a QB playing qb thats why i have a power back to do the running and a qb to do the throwing.

Sure itd nice to have one that is great at both but those guys cost a lot
