I've just wasted a few hours of my life looking through play of draft-eligible LB prospects.  I don't want to get too attached to any of them because (Howie).  Just my initial impressions on some:

Edgerrin Cooper (Texas A&M) -- best playmaking LB in the draft.  Hits hard and generally folks go down.  He plays downhill; not sure if he is asked to play in pass coverage at all.  Couldn't find him defending a throw.

Jeremiah Trotter (Clemson) -- also plays mostly downhill.  Good instincts for the position, makes a lot of plays blitzing the QB -- a little bit of a Parsons-lite.  Didn't see a whole lot of sideline-to-sideline ability, though.

Barrett Carter (Clemson) -- actually preferred him over Trotter.  Better sideline to sideline and covers more ground.  Better in pass coverage than the first two guys for sure.  Looks like a versatile 3-down LB for the 2024 NFL

Cedric Gray (North Carolina) -- really liked his film also.  Always seems to be around the ball and making plays.  Good tackler and versatile guy who can play the run and the pass, although his foot speed doesn't look the best.  Would need to see him test at The Combine or Pro Day.

Tommy Eichenberg (Ohio St) -- really good run stopping LB.  Not sure if he plays in pass coverage, not sure if they asked him to, not sure if he could do it if asked.

Obviously, depending on the round they're on the board I'd be comfortable with any of these guys as an improvement.  If the Eagles could get Carter or Gray at the end of Round 3, I'd be on board.

Your assessment o the top 3 guys is in line with the PFF guys. Cooper has a good coverage grade but its all zone coverage buzzing in to the flats. Its not any man coverage or really much else at all. Hes a projection as a 3 down LB but he has the athleticism where you think he may be able to handle anything.

Trotter is smaller and not as athletic and they also like the other Clemson LB better than him.

2 other names. Junior Colson- did he stay in the draft? Hes in contention for a top 3 ranking at the position. And the one from ND that I love- Marist Liufau. He has a fantastic coverage grade, good size and sideline to sideline speed.

I'd guess they leave it up to the players. Maybe he stayed back to rehab?

Work on his resume.

It just feels like something is about to blow up here..... I don't know what it is, but there is just too much smoke.  We've been down this road before, the question is how big and how deep does it go.

Leonard was so bad he dressed and didn't play a single snap yesterday.

The savior of the LB group!

Slowik in Houston is another nice HC name.

We just need a playcalling HC.

Interesting looking at the snap counts.

DT: Davis led the group with 42, probably due to the Bucs running the clock with the lead.

Well, let's just hope it blows up quickly so we can move on to fixing the problems.  Don't screw around and miss out on the top prospects

I assume that Lurie spent today interviewing certain players…doing his due diligence on the state of the locker room.  He doesn’t strike me as a guy to make a move before talking to a few key players…Kelce, Cox, Graham, and a perhaps a couple few younger key guys.  Would love to be a fly on the wall

So... no day after press conference.  No announcement about terminations.   Complete radio silence.

Yeah I’m not buying the Sunday ticket next season unless there’s a clean sweep of the coaching staff.

Counterpoint: you buy Sunday ticket so you have options to watch other than the eagles.

I'd rather be a person sitting in a chair.    You might want to see someone about this wish of yours.  Sounds unhealthy.

The lack of reports that Sirianni is safe speak volumes. Firing Sirianni is clearly in the table. Maybe he wants to hear his plan to fix the issues first.

There’s plenty of options for other games, etc but I doubt I’ll pay another $300-$400 unless the team makes it worth it.  Not to mention, I could always go to a sports bar, get some wings, etc - that’s usually fun.

I feel the same way.  If a coach was clearly safe and there was this much of a meltdown about the team among fans, media etc usually reports surface that the coach is in fact safe.   We’ve heard nothing of the sort - if anything, reports of him being likely gone (or that he lost the team) seem to have emerged.

I think, if they were to announce firings right away, a team might wait a bit to hire Brian Johnson assuming hes about to get cut. Thus, the eagles dont receive the draft picks. Not that the team has to give them up, but it still takes away a bit of their advantage.

I dont think he is going to get hired anywhere anyway. But it doesnt make much sense to announce OC firing today. And DC firing next week. I think theyll announce them all at once. After BJ has had his interviews. Hopefully he gets those out of the way this week so everyone can move on.

Got good news guys, quez Watkins played his last game for the eagles!!!!

Maybe they are thinking of a way to demote nick sirianni to OC and hire a new HC….

What would he bring to the table at OC?

You realize that this team resigned Derek Barnett when we thought he'd played his last game with the team, right?  Never say never.

Eh, I'll take that over the extreme crashing down the line Sweat has been giving them. He recognizes the play and reacts the exact way you want him to. It's just that Palmer, I think that's who it is, is a 4.3 guy and the faster athlete wins the corner.

I'm all for bashing this team right now but that's not the play to do it on.

Nolan Smith is a 4.3 guy.  The reason many here wanted Nolan Smith is his great speed. including a great 10 split.  But, yeah,  and Palmer more of a 4.33 and Nolan Smith is more of a 4.39.

I said this last night, and I still believe it that 2024 is going to tell us a lot about the future Jalen hurts and how it’ll go for the eagles. We’re gonna have new coaches, one way or another. either a new head coach and a whole new staff or just offensive coordinator and some new position coaches.

Last night I don’t think he was the biggest problem. That was coaching and not understanding what a Fing blitz is. For the Eagles want to win a Super Bowl, the Jalen hurts has to be closer has to be 2020 to Jalen hurts. If he gets new coaching and he is still turning the ball over a lot, making some questionable decisions in critical moments and looks closer to something like 2021 and 2023 then the Eagles are going to be in a world of trouble. You can’t be paying your quarterback as much money as they are and he’s not 2022 version. That’s the reality we live in.

Again hurts wasn’t the top problem yesterday but he also had plays in that game and this year that he rarely did in 2022. The safety was a play he minimized last year. How many of us watch that and sit to ourselves, that’s some thing that Carson Wentz would do in his last couple years here? That’s what that felt like. And there’s been too many times this year where he’s tried to do something like that or just made a really poor decision.

lets hope he uses the off-season to get himself back to 2022 with better coaching.

Why must you ruin the one thing that’s given me joy in the last 24 hours

What did desai bring when they demoted him besides the casual showing him in the booth?
