Purdy is in one of those zones where his should be INTs aren't getting caught.  That will probably even out next season but for now they are in the SB.  I'm back to Eagles talk

Reminds me of 2013 foles who had some of that then 2014 he had a lot more before he got hurt.

Agreed he is a system QB and if he went anywhere else in the league it wouldn't be long before he was being benched. I see nothing great about him. I see a guy who, to his credit, does what he needs to do in terms of he gets the ball to the weapons they have. He gets the ball out quick and he lets his play makers do the work. And that is fine because it works for them so credit to him and SF for that but lets not pretend he is a top QB.

Man. Guess you guys are still in denial. The kid is actually pretty damn good. If you're not a believer by now, I don't know what to tell you. I saw that man use his legs yesterday and put the offense on his back in that comeback on the biggest of stages. Not going to sit here and say he's the GOAT or something but for a year 2 guy, first year starting a full season coming off a surgery, this ish is impressive. If it were so easy a cave man could do it (Garoppolo.) I'm getting a more athletic Eli Manning type vibe from this dude. Hope KC woops their ass though cause 9ers.

Do other people think that this round of playoffs have been really underwhelming?  Most games have been one sided or anything close was one team literally just throwing the game away rather than being back and forth.

Chiefs/Bills and Rams/Lions were pretty good games. It was fun watching the Cowboys getting blown out but it wasn't really a "good" football game (by unbiased standards).

Not in denial at all. I think he is a solid QB who clearly can thrive in the right system. But when it comes to him getting paid and the roster around him taking a hit he is going to struggle as he is limited. I am not overly impressed when I watch him although I will give him some credit he is better than I had thought.

Purdy isn’t going to beat Mahomes

The playoffs have mirrored up nicely with the regular season to be honest. There has been very little that has been fun or entertaining about the whole season.

Looking forward to seeing Latu at senior bowl practice.., my favorite player in the draft of the well known ones

We ran on 3rd down a lot in our super bowl year.  And converted Neenah our run game was dominant.  Ran even on like 3rd and 6 at times not just short yardage.

They’re talking about with the time management needed on that drive. Not in general

Kirk Cousins is everyone’s poster child example for a QB who is solid, but nothing special. Whenever someone needs to bring up a QB name in a conversation to describe that kinda QB they always use Kirk Cousins. A guy who’s 14th-18th-ish in the NFL every season.

And Kirk Cousins is objectively a better QB than Brock Purdy. He’s more accurate, he has a better arm, he’s had a larger sample of productivity. Purdy is a guy. He’s not awful but there’s no NFL fan on the planet who fears him when they face him. Never once has an NFL fan said "Damn, we gotta beat Purdy this week???”

Yeah, it's on to college basketball season for me.  With 'Nova sucking, at least, I have my other alma mater doing well.  Watch out for those UNM Lobos in March!!  They are legit good this year.

Well, on the hopeful side of all this, most things I see say that Fangio runs his D with S and LB being pretty important positions, so maybe we actually get some players there? We obviously need a lot on the D side of the house, but we should be pretty stacked at O again, depending on what we do with Swift.

  1. Get a competent read LB and a good sideline to sideline LB - likely FA for the first
  2. Get a lead competent S and some depth - we don't spend high picks on S, so likely FA with depth in day 2 or 3
  3. Solidify pass rush -need rotational players and we spend picks here so likely draft
  4. Solidify CB room (figure out how to trade Bradberry, figure out if any of the guys can be a starter opposite Slay, get at least 2 more developmental guys one to possibly replace Slay next year and a backup slot) - likely draft maybe 2nd round?
  5. Solidify OL depth and RG in case Kelce retires - answer may be on roster, but likely draft as well
  6. Get a lead RB who can pick up a blitz and a developmental RB with more upside than Gainwell. - likely FA and mid to late round draft

that's all, it'll be a breeze.....

Tbh I’ve felt all year it’s been a pretty poor year of football. Been a lot of injuries and frankly just not as good as previous years in terms of play.

I think every fan in the playoffs who have lost to the 9ers so far have said we have to beat Purdy or predicted he would fold. He's the point guard on that offense. Stop him (as the Eagles did last year albeit by blowin his ass up) and you stop the 9ers.

I’d argue statistically most years cousins is around 8-12. Then again cousins has a lot of hallow stats and you know in bigger games he’s likely going to do something that costs you.

Cousins is closer to 8-12 in terms of overall performance at QB.  It's just that he doesn't often raise his game to meet the opposition.  That makes him seem mediocre.  But if you look around the entire league, he'd be at the bottom of the top-third.

Kirk Cousins is a big game/big stage and playoff choker though. I would compare him more to Dak. Purdy is a year 2 guy who has already done more than Cousins has in the playoffs and big games.

He’s Eli without the playoff success.

Just saying neither kick was 50. The 4th and 2 they failed in the third was at the 28. Would’ve been a 45 yard FG. And the 4th and 3 they failed in the 4th was at the 30 so a 47 yard FG. In the last 2 years badgley from 40-49 is 9-11 and last 4 he was 18-21.

I knew they weren't 50 but somewhere around there.

I couldn't remember the yard line on the first failed 4th down attempt but I remember the second was around the 30.

Eli was a big game gamer. Crazy.

What’s impressive about sf is they are 6-1 against all the nfc playoff teams this year. That said i really think the nfc wasn’t very good this year. Lions are the second best team in the nfc this year but comparing them to last year’s field might have been the 4th.

feel like injuries to QBs and just play around the league has been down. It’s why I’m not surprised the chiefs were able to get back to the Super Bowl.

Calm down, no one is complaining, I'm just saying it was over the top and likely for publicity, thus leading me to believe he is focusing more on his other ventures than football.

You. You're complaining. You said you were cynical about Kelce. Now you're worried he's "focusing" on other  ventures than football. I already listed all the other things he's been focused on in recent years and that hasn't affected his play. He was a week removed from the season, a time when players go on vacation and relax. He got drunk at his brother's game and had fun. What a dumb thing to be "cynical" about.

Yeah certainly was a weird year. The QBs didn't really go nuts like they usually do. I think that extra game is starting to take its toll.

Most of that is circumstantial tbh. Face a top defense and you can look like a playoff choker real fast. I don’t put much into that. I think it’s less of a skill than people want to believe.

I’d have less issue going for it if it was 50+ but 45 and 47 are makable kicks for badgley. He’s been percentage wise the same as Elliott from that range over the last 4 years. I said before they went for the first 4th down it’s super tempting to go for it but having a 3 possession lead is the right thing to do. Frankly i think that’s the play that changed the game. I think you hit that field goal it’s pretty deflating for the niners to get it back to 2 possession then immediately back to 17/3 possessions.
