Most of that is circumstantial tbh. Face a top defense and you can look like a playoff choker real fast. I don’t put much into that. I think it’s less of a skill than people want to believe.

Nah. We see players elevate their games all of the time when the big lights come on. Cousins just isn't that guy.

I’d have less issue going for it if it was 50+ but 45 and 47 are makable kicks for badgley. He’s been percentage wise the same as Elliott from that range over the last 4 years. I said before they went for the first 4th down it’s super tempting to go for it but having a 3 possession lead is the right thing to do. Frankly i think that’s the play that changed the game. I think you hit that field goal it’s pretty deflating for the niners to get it back to 2 possession then immediately back to 17/3 possessions.

Of all 4th downs that he went for I thought for sure he would go for the one where they were at the 2 yard line. When he didn't do that I was like ok this guy is going to do playoff football and just get the points this game. Nope.

I still can’t believe the Lions lioned the game away

Yeah certainly was a weird year. The QBs didn't really go nuts like they usually do. I think that extra game is starting to take its toll.

I think eventually the nfl goes away with the bye for the 1 seed to get an extra 2 playoff games for revenue. Frankly the nfl is likely going to go to 18 games at some point. Should make it 20 week regular season if they do that. have 2 bye weeks during the season. Everyone gets a bye at some point between weeks 2-8 then every gets another sometime from week 11-17.

lol. Isn't this the same crap that got Vrabel fired? Wasn't he doing the river boat gambling thing too in Tennessee?

Well, on the hopeful side of all this, most things I see say that Fangio runs his D with S and LB being pretty important positions, so maybe we actually get some players there? We obviously need a lot on the D side of the house, but we should be pretty stacked at O again, depending on what we do with Swift.

  1. Get a competent read LB and a good sideline to sideline LB - likely FA for the first
  2. Get a lead competent S and some depth - we don't spend high picks on S, so likely FA with depth in day 2 or 3
  3. Solidify pass rush -need rotational players and we spend picks here so likely draft
  4. Solidify CB room (figure out how to trade Bradberry, figure out if any of the guys can be a starter opposite Slay, get at least 2 more developmental guys one to possibly replace Slay next year and a backup slot) - likely draft maybe 2nd round?
  5. Solidify OL depth and RG in case Kelce retires - answer may be on roster, but likely draft as well
  6. Get a lead RB who can pick up a blitz and a developmental RB with more upside than Gainwell. - likely FA and mid to late round draft

that's all, it'll be a breeze.....

1. The class sucks. You’re looking at aging. Bobby Wagner, Lavonte David, Jordan Hicks.

2. Antoine Winfield Jr.
3. van Ginkel - Fangio connection.

4. Draft

5. Draft

6. I would say draft but every time the Eagles go into the daft needing a RB they always miss out and the good ones always get picked right before, so just keep Swift so they don’t go into the draft desperately needing one so they can better spend picks elsewhere.

They need to increase the roster size then but the NFLPA probably won't go for that. They are greedy too so all the fault isn't on the owners I suppose.

I love Kelce for what he's done on the field for us and he's been a great leader for this team and has really connected with Philly. What I will say though is I am not a huge fan of how he has conducted himself this off season. Sorry but if he was pretty much any other player he'd be taking a lot of flack for wearing Kansas gear. I get that his brother plays for them and of course he should celebrate his brothers successes but does he need to wear their gear? I know if I was in the same position with my brother I'd support him and cheer for him but I wouldn't wear his teams gear (especially not a team who has become a bit of a rival to us). I don't dislike him for it or anything but I don't think it was a great look especially the week after we are dumped out of the playoffs with a team that just didn't seem to try or care (not saying Kelce was one of those because he clearly wasn't).

These guys are human beings. Of course he's going to support his brother. Also his former coach Reid is there who he loves as well. Travis wears Eagles gear to support Jason and participates in his local charities. Guys swap jerseys, remain friends with college teammates, support the team that drafted them even after playing for other teams. Fans have these over the top expectations for players and put them on pedestals for how they think they should behave. Most players go on vacation after the season to a beach somewhere to get away, even after a loss but no one accuses that of being "a bad look." Players go to the championship games and Super Bowl to party and celebrate and enjoy watching the game. They participate in the Pro Bowl, but no one accuses them of that being a bad look, smiling and having fun with players from other teams.

The unrealistic expectations some fans put on players that are human being is really something.

Thats why i hate when people are like Dan Campbell has played like this all year. Except he didn’t earlier in the game. So he did at a point in time where 3 possession lead and not giving the niners any momentum meant more. Imo that 4th and 2 didn’t just cost you 3 possession lead but was the snowball that turned into an avalanche for the lions. That said if he misses that kick i think it does the same thing. But i trust badgley to make it from 45. He’s been good from that range over the past 3-4 years

Man. Guess you guys are still in denial. The kid is actually pretty damn good. If you're not a believer by now, I don't know what to tell you. I saw that man use his legs yesterday and put the offense on his back in that comeback on the biggest of stages. Not going to sit here and say he's the GOAT or something but for a year 2 guy, first year starting a full season coming off a surgery, this ish is impressive. If it were so easy a cave man could do it (Garoppolo.) I'm getting a more athletic Eli Manning type vibe from this dude. Hope KC woops their ass though cause 9ers.

He also made some HORRIBLE throws yesterday, a few that he was lucky didn't get picked.

I give him s*** as much as anybody here, mostly as pushback for the balls on chin narrative that he is receiving. I don't think he is in the Mariota, Howell, Sam Darnold group but let's not pretend this kid has special talent either.

He's got the best offensive weapon who can carry a team by himself in CMac, two #1 WRs that rival any other team and a top 3 TE (Kittle battles Andrews for #2) at his disposal.  As long as he doesn't simultaneously crap his pants and throw up on himself at the same time, he's going to win a lot of games. He plays the most important position in football yet was passed on 260 times for a reason.

This was my view as well. Kicking a FG from the 2 and then being aggressive when the offense just needs to keep pace with the Niners offense for the second half is weird. Purdy wasn't playing well and was throwing up a lot of bad passes at the time so why give them momentum.

It’s circumstantial. Anyone can appear to have a big game skill when the sample sizes are so small. Play enough playoff games and those would even out. It’s just that most players don’t play enough playoff games in their careers for this to be apparent so narratives get formed. If Eli Manning made the playoffs 7 more times in his career, I guarantee he would’ve had typical Eli Manning deer in the headlights performances and would’ve been the typical Eli. Looks great sometimes and looks like a buffoon in others.

They should. Could also increase the cap doing it as well. But I think it’s obvious the nfl is eventually going to 18 games and bye week in the playoffs eventually going away. It’s always about money that’s best way to bring in more

Yeah. It's like they want these dudes to hate each other. They're freaking blood brothers lol. It's about "family"

Do other people think that this round of playoffs have been really underwhelming?  Most games have been one sided or anything close was one team literally just throwing the game away rather than being back and forth.

Chiefs/Bills and Rams/Lions were pretty good games. It was fun watching the Cowboys getting blown out but it wasn't really a "good" football game (by unbiased standards).

I was feeling something similar and I feel like the expanded playoffs are partially to blame.  We got Niners-Lions, which is not a bad game in itself, but the niners only had to beat Green Bay to get there (yawn), and the Lions had a pretty easy path beating the Rams and then Tampa.  So it felt like no build up rather just another in season game between two good teams.

Nah... highly doubt it would even out for Cousins. You're ignoring the mental side of the game. It's a real thing in sports. It's how suddenly players get the yips and can't throw to first base anymore or can't make a free throw. Pressure busts pipes. When someone can't get out of their own head it's a wrap.

Looking forward to seeing Latu at senior bowl practice.., my favorite player in the draft of the well known ones

I thought for a while he was considered the top DE in the draft.

The other DE at UCLA is pretty good and no one knows him.  Murphy I think is his name.

Actually think the chiefs road to get to the SB is far more impressive then the niners or even the lions if they made it. Going to Buffalo and Baltimore and winning is hard. And they smacked Miami at home. I don’t think the nfc was very good this year. Dallas was overrated and beat up on bad teams. The eagles took the second half of the year off and frankly were never dominant even at 10-1. Bucs aren’t good. Packers and rams got hot at the end of the year but really more likely a year away from being legit contenders.  Niners are the best in the nfc and frankly i thought 3 top teams in the afc are better than them. And the afc didn’t have joe burrow cause id argue if he were healthy id take bengals over them too cause they smacked them in sf earlier.

Just saying neither kick was 50. The 4th and 2 they failed in the third was at the 28. Would’ve been a 45 yard FG. And the 4th and 3 they failed in the 4th was at the 30 so a 47 yard FG. In the last 2 years badgley from 40-49 is 9-11 and last 4 he was 18-21.

I didn't give enough of a crap to watch the game at all, but what was the score when they passed up the FG in the 3rd quarter?  If they were up more than 7 points at that stage, that was pure stupidity.  Can't be passing up points with a 2-score+ lead.

I agree the NFL overall was lower quality this year. Just about every fanbase blames the refs for something, but when you watch other teams as an objective viewer there is bad officiating in every game. Either they call a nit picking flag in a key situation that gives a team an advantage, or they miss a completely obvious call. Also, they give crybaby Mahomes whatever he wants.

The league needs to crack down on refs caving to players and coaches. Every WR throws a mini tantrum calling for a flag for every incompletion. And they need to "let em play" in more situations.

Also execution around the league is sloppy. The reduced preseason makes the first couple games sloppy for a lot of teams. It seems like accountability for mistakes is down. Apart from Taylor Swift there's also too much of an entertainment element. The announcers don't break down plays as much, they will talk about something trivial, or talk about other sports. I don't care about lengthy commentary about the baseball world series when I'm watching a football game (looking at you Joe Buck).

i agree, we have to start making changes to valuing the positions, if you look at the chiefs, they have great linebackers, safeties, running backs, tightends, they dont have the greatest oline and dline. point is we have to change our approach to the draft and fa.

After I hit submit I started thinking of the AFC and I agree.  Baltimore bye then blowing out the Texans follows the same complaint, but the Chiefs actually faced real competition.  The Dolphins in the cold, sure, we all saw that coming but the game vs the Bills was a f'n dog fight and they still went into Baltimore, who was pretty fresh since they had really two byes and a cakewalk over the past week, and had a pretty convincing win.
