He also made some HORRIBLE throws yesterday, a few that he was lucky didn't get picked.

I give him s*** as much as anybody here, mostly as pushback for the balls on chin narrative that he is receiving. I don't think he is in the Mariota, Howell, Sam Darnold group but let's not pretend this kid has special talent either.

He's got the best offensive weapon who can carry a team by himself in CMac, two #1 WRs that rival any other team and a top 3 TE (Kittle battles Andrews for #2) at his disposal.  As long as he doesn't simultaneously crap his pants and throw up on himself at the same time, he's going to win a lot of games. He plays the most important position in football yet was passed on 260 times for a reason.

We'll agree to disagree. First year fully starting and he's going to the Superbowl. I saw Lamar throw several passes that should have been picked yesterday as well. He's going home. Purdy isn't. I've seen other QBs with a similar surrounding cast fail horribly. What he's done certainly is special. He's a lot more athletic than I thought. Moved well in the pocket... avoided some sacks... used his legs to extend drives several times out running defenders. There is some talent there whether you like it or not. The media is making you hate the guy to the point that you can't respect what he's doing as a year 2 guy.

I didn't give enough of a crap to watch the game at all, but what was the score when they passed up the FG in the 3rd quarter?  If they were up more than 7 points at that stage, that was pure stupidity.  Can't be passing up points with a 2-score+ lead.

24-10. This was after they kicked a FG from the 2 yard line at the end of the first half as well.

24-10 lions with 7 mins left in the 3rd. Yeah taking a 3 possession lead with around 22 mins left in the game is huge. Means SF basically would’ve had to be perfect the rest of the game on offense to pull it out and also stop the lions on the rest of their possessions.

I agree the NFL overall was lower quality this year.

More overseas games and exclusively aired games on botique streaming services should fix it.  And if not, then it's time for another expansion: More teams in the playoffs, 18 game season and if those don't work, expansion teams!

i agree, we have to start making changes to valuing the positions, if you look at the chiefs, they have great linebackers, safeties, running backs, tightends, they dont have the greatest oline and dline. point is we have to change our approach to the draft and fa.

They also have the probably the best cb tandem in McDuffie and Sneed. They have playmakers at every level.  So do the Ravens and that's what makes their defenses top tier.

These guys are human beings. Of course he's going to support his brother. Also his former coach Reid is there who he loves as well. Travis wears Eagles gear to support Jason and participates in his local charities. Guys swap jerseys, remain friends with college teammates, support the team that drafted them even after playing for other teams. Fans have these over the top expectations for players and put them on pedestals for how they think they should behave. Most players go on vacation after the season to a beach somewhere to get away, even after a loss but no one accuses that of being "a bad look." Players go to the championship games and Super Bowl to party and celebrate and enjoy watching the game. They participate in the Pro Bowl, but no one accuses them of that being a bad look, smiling and having fun with players from other teams.

The unrealistic expectations some fans put on players that are human being is really something.

Imagine that. Athletes are people.

I don't really find Kelce's behavior annoying at all. I don't find the Taylor Swift coverage annoying. What I do find annoying is the constant complaining about them. Just get over it. When they cut to Taylor Swift, it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the game AT ALL. I just don't care. Honestly, Tony Romo is 100x more annoying than the Taylor Swift coverage. He does impact my enjoyment of games.

After I hit submit I started thinking of the AFC and I agree.  Baltimore bye then blowing out the Texans follows the same complaint, but the Chiefs actually faced real competition.  The Dolphins in the cold, sure, we all saw that coming but the game vs the Bills was a f'n dog fight and they still went into Baltimore, who was pretty fresh since they had really two byes and a cakewalk over the past week, and had a pretty convincing win.

Yeah give chiefs a ton of credit. After their loss to the raiders it looked really dire on offense. That it just wasn’t in the cards this year. But they managed to figure it out and have enough offense yesterday to pull it off. I think the Chiefs offense still concerns me. Because the second half yesterday they looked bad. But their defense I think is what’s going to keep them in the lead or in the game with San Francisco to pull it out.

Amazing the year chiefs offense isn’t as good as years past but their defense is the best they’ve had in Reid’s tenure. Their forward thinking of letting the young kids play last year paid off dividends. Because they are much further along in the rebuild of the defense then they would’ve been if they just tried to patch work it each year like we’ve tried.

Nah... highly doubt it would even out for Cousins. You're ignoring the mental side of the game. It's a real thing in sports. It's how suddenly players get the yips and can't throw to first base anymore or can't make a free throw. Pressure busts pipes. When someone can't get out of their own head it's a wrap.

The yips are a very specific thing. That's a rare mental block that is a psychological condition. "Choking" is so abirtrary and abstract. Most people can't even agree on who choked and why. So many things go into it. Sometimes players just face great defenses. Sometimes players have their teammates let them down. Sometimes a QB's line may make a mistake and cause the QB to make a mistake because they didn't do their job. People will say Lamar Jackson choked yesterday. Did he? Or did the Chiefs defense just play great. Or did his coaching not put him in position to succeed.

Peyton Manning was labeled as an all time choker, then in 2006 he had that epic historic comeback against the team that always gave him fits in the AFC Championship, then went on to win the Super Bowl. You play enough playoff moments, you're going to have good and bad. Frankly, I don't even like to use the term choker when it comes to players that often because of that. We like to use it because it will justify the narratives of fans. Haters will throw the term choker around because it affirms their narrative for example. But so much goes into it.

There are of course rare circumstances where like a kicker or something who hits field goals at an 88% clip will have a knack for missing 35 yarders in the clutch or something. But otherwise, I think it's all circumstantial. There's no greater example of this than Foles. Foles made the playoffs a few times. Had one season where you couldn't have been more clutch. 2017 playoff Foles might be the greatest clutch performance by an NFL QB ever. Dude was a backup and out dueled Brady on the biggest stage. If it was a skill he would've repeated it. In his other playoff years he was very meh.

I never stated Lamar played a good game this past Sunday.  He choked and his only explosive weapon made 2 boneheaded mistakes.

And Lamar MUCH less to work with.  CMac >>>>>> Edwards and Hill.    Aiyuk + Debo >>>>>> Flowers (who I like) and..... a washed up Odell or never was Aghlor and Bateman?  TE I'll go push at Andrews and Kittle but give the overall edge to Baltimore when you factor in Likely who really came into his own this year.

Both teams earned the top seed and the bye, but Lamar carried his team to get there.  Purdy just needed to not to F up.

Dewayne Carter is another dl I like , Issac as a pass rusher

Ha ha. If you poors can't afford Peacock just say that. :P

Seriously though, I think another issue is teams are rushing to decisions because of pressure. Hiring an OC after 1 year of experience expecting him to make the leap to HC, giving huge contracts to QBs for fear of not finding a replacement (Daniel Jones perfect example). Chasing trends in play design and play calling, relying too much on analytics and "next gen stats." I get there's an aspect of it that's valuable but it's too much. And you want to adapt to what other teams are doing so you adjust your play calling accordingly but some teams just copy others even if they're not properly suited to execute it the same.

1. The class sucks. You’re looking at aging. Bobby Wagner, Lavonte David, Jordan Hicks.

2. Antoine Winfield Jr.
3. van Ginkel - Fangio connection.

4. Draft

5. Draft

6. I would say draft but every time the Eagles go into the daft needing a RB they always miss out and the good ones always get picked right before, so just keep Swift so they don’t go into the draft desperately needing one so they can better spend picks elsewhere.

You missed Queen, Devin White, Willie Gay, Josey Jewell, Tyrel Dodson, Azeez Al-Shahir...there are some younger solid options.

Well, as a coach, your players will either make you look brilliant or stupid -- depending on the result.  Reading the boxscore the game went from 24-10 Lions to 34-24 San Fran after that decision.  Any way you slice it, that was just dumb.  Pretty much the turning point of the game.  Nearly as bad as the Falcons not stacking up any points after getting up 28-3 in the Super Bowl; a couple of times they were in FG range and went backwards, then lost in OT.

I did watch some of the Niners game against Green Bay; they probably shouldn't have won that game, either.  I would predict Chiefs by 10+ in the Super Bowl, just going Mahomes over Purdy and the Chiefs defense being about as good as SF -- but you can never discount a team on a sheer luck streak.

I left Queen and White out for a reason. Queen I think is mid but will get paid like an all pro, and White I just think stinks. Jewell is a solid option.

For some reason can still access Peacock.  (It was bundled into our old Xfinity account and we can still get it for some reason (maybe because they give us internets?)).  But I refused to watch the game just to do my part on not giving it views to hopefully curb this trend.

Choking is a mental block as well. It's not as coincidental as you believe. Pressure just gets to people even the best of them. Sometimes they overcome it. Most times they don't. No different than how people react in high pressure situations outside of sports. Some people can just do it with ease while others struggle.

Like you said, can’t discount a team that’s on the luck streak (the play where lions defender should’ve picked it, hits off lions visor and aiyuk catches it for a TD). But I kind of sense The Niners are in the similar boat that the Eagles were when they were 10-1 winning all these close games and being fortunate to win all Of them. At some point in time that tends to turn. If you’re the Niners you hope it’s not in the next game. But at some point it eventually catches up to you. Happened to the Vikings in 2022. Happened to the Eagles in 2023. It could very easily happen to the Niners in the next game.

Lamar's supporting cast was fine. Hurts supporting cast good as well (arguably better than the 9ers). They'll both be sitting at home watching a guy that almost didn't get drafted in the Superbowl.

Tbh think Devin white has a bigger name than his performance shows on the field.

I'll never forget watching an episode of Pros vs Joes, where they had a basketball game between McNabb, Owens, and Antonio Gates vs some retired NBA guys.  McNabb took a pass near the basket with about 3 seconds left and blew a routine layup to win the game.

It's just who he was.

Would be nice to get 1 of those guys and draft a guy. Hope that Dean can stay healthy but he's trending in the wrong direction.

Jordyn Brooks is possibly my favorite out of them all. White took a tumble in the coverage dept, Fangio probably will want linebackers and safeties that excel in coverage.

Right.  His cast is fine.  Purdy is surrounded by All Pros and All Stars.  That's the point several of us are making when Purdy is being showered with praise.

Gotcha. Didn't say they were good, just that there were younger options.
