So since this year's Super Bowl is basically HIV vs. AIDS (I'll root for the Chiefs/HIV, but I don't want either), I am ready for the offseason to get going.

Coordinators -- I am a big fan of the Kellen Moore hire. We saw what he did with a healthy Dak in Dallas, and while some fans here like to criticize Hurts for his slow decision making, he's a Mensa member compared to Dak. Our offense really just became relying on superior athletes to get open, and Moore is great at scheming guys open. In Dallas in 2022, he had Lamb and basically nothing else and they were still a top offense. As for Fangio, well, I'd have preferred a style shift. But if we are married to this scheme, might as well get the OG.

Defense -- I want 1-2 professional LBs in free agency, a safety, and maybe an edge rusher (though we could go draft for that). I don't see Howie breaking the bank on a free agent LB like Queen, but guys like Jordan Hicks, Willie Gay, Josey Jewell or Bobby Wagner would make sense (we are keeping Dean, so having Wagner as a mentor couldn't hurt). 1-2 year deals at an AAV of 4-7mm sounds like what Howie will be willing to do. At safety, I just don't think they spend the money for someone like Winfield or Baker (assuming he is moved). Maybe someone like Taylor Rapp? Could CJGJ come back (not sure his pride will allow it). Jayron Kearse? I think we're looking for a 5-10mm AAV guy.

Offense -- We just need bodies at WR. Cedrick Wilson is a cheap option that knows the offense. Noah Brown as well. I don't think we play for Ridley since we'll be extending Smith. At RB, we'll go dumpster diving again. And Dickerson should be extended.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I’d be pretty happy with savage at safety in free agency. Then at linebacker jewell and maybe a lower FA who has been banged up you believe has upside. I’d go to the draft for a 3rd wr. I’d love to take cowing in the 3rd. He’s an excellent slot WR. He fits really well between smith and brown

I'd like to draft a WR3 but also have someone like Wilson or Brown to push him. Plus, having someone familiar with Moore's offense won't hurt.

Why does everyone like Jewell (LB not singer) so much?  I get nervous his massive lack of speed and already 29 is going to make him a big liability here.

I think if this team turns around it wouldn't shock me to see them remove Nick. They did interview Moore for the head coaching job before they hired Nick.

Here's some proof to back my previous post about the Ravens doing the most un-Raven thing yesterday.

If the team turns it around that will only help Sirianni, not hurt him.  Who fires a head coach if their team improves?

And while I don’t think he has worked with Fangio, he had with Pagano at Chargers and Staley at Rams. Two guys very close to Vic

2023-2024: The year the NFL finally jumped the shark and was a sport geared towards casuals and pre-teen girls

Not sure about the rest of you but I won't be a watching a minute of the SB.

A WR3 shouldn't be that expensive, and draft a mid-round pick with slot WR attributres.

A power back who can pick up blitzes shouldn't break the bank or require a high draft pick.

An ILB, and a sfarting caliber safety.

Depth at RT.

All these things are doable, even if Cox is gone, Davis/Tutu at NT, Carter, Williams, Ojama, Graham at DE is a good start.

Sweat, Reddick, Smith at OLB.

If we have Brown and Smitty on the outside who do you think our slot WR will be in 2024?  Winner gets a prize.

Taylor Swift bothers you that much?

Hopefully Washington hires Macdonald instead of Ben Johnson. I say that not in fear of Washington getting Ben Johnson, I'll never take that franchise seriously. I say that because if next season for the Eagles bombs, I want Ben Johnson available for the Eagles.

Also if Washington hires Macdonald, Seattle probably hires Quinn. You want Dallas to have a lot of turnover to make next season more difficult.

Eagles win the Super Bowl with Kellen Moore's high flying offense that turned Hurts back into the MVP.

Jeff Lurie: "crap, I don't want to go through 2023 all over again and lose the coach that made my offense and QB become great."

10 minutes after the Eagles parade ends, Adam Schefter: "The Philadelphia Eagles have fired head coach Nick Sirianni."

Doubling down on the stupid, eh? Bold strategy

I have zero problem with Taylor Swift. I have a problem with them showing her celebrating every time Kelce catches a pass or announcers constantly saying corny jokes about her and Kelce during Chiefs game. I have a problem with seeing Mahomes and Kelce in literally 20+ commercials while I'm watching football on a Sunday. I have a problem with the Chiefs so blatantly being pushed by the NFL to where you start to think silly things like "maybe the NFL is scripted." Baltimore had a key play in the 4th quarter when they were still in it and Isaiah Likely was literally tackled in the middle of the field and there wasn't a penalty. Do I need to remind you about the ticky tack call on Bradberry in the SB last year after letting stuff like that go all game long. Taylor Swift is a micro problem that makes up the macro problem which is that every major organization and now the NFL is pushing agendas on the masses. I go to football or sports for an escape, not to have BS shoved down my throat. I am a liberal non conspiracy theory type guy but at some point certain things start to become obvious.

Just shake it off.

By the way (and I'm sure it was mentioned, but I don't feel like looking back on pages and pages of stuff from yesterday) Dan Campbell lost the game for the Lions when he went for it on 4th and 2 in the third quarter. Sports is so mental and momentum is a massive thing. If he takes the 3 they would have traded points with the 49'ers and burned half of the third quarter. The 49'ers still would have had massive pressure on them to come back. When the 49'ers got that stop it was obvious they were going to win the game because Campbell handed them all of the momentum. Then he doubled down later and went for it again when they were down by 3. I guess the tough guy bro coaching act only gets you so far.

There is a psychological element to being down 3 scores that can be crushing. I don't think scoring a TD there and going up 21 would've been that much more of a blow to the Niners than going down 17 would've been.

Yup

you go up three possessions there

the mistake was not taking the last three to tie and keep it a one possession game

I guess familiarity with Fangio and the system. I can see the logic there but I've read mixed things from Broncos fans about him. At his age I can't envision him being the long-term solution at LB if they do bring him in.

I wont be watching the SB. but not because of Swift. I have zero interest in a SB featuring KC and the 9ers. - just the thought made me throw up a bit in my mouth.

I am pretty sure I have better things to do on that day- likely I will be re arranging my sock drawer- or possibly laying out my plan to become Master of the Time/space continuim......

It just didn't make any sense. I actually agreed with his decision to kick the FG at the end of the first half. At that point in the game any points just adds more and more pressure on the home favorite to have to come back and not blow a game they were big favorites in. Then with half of the 3rd quarter burnt and the 49'ers settling for a FG he gets greedy and doesn't take the 3. That game completely turned on it's head with that stop and I said it at the time. Trading 3 points with only a quarter and a half left would have been a huge win for the Lions having been up 24-7 at the half.

Devin Duvernay. I think he can be a very valuable WR3, but he can also automatically be the KR and PR, saving the Eagles an extra 2 roster spots. Covey has been a very good PR, but again, that's all he is.

The Eagles used 2 spots this year on guys who were only on the team for one purpose. Covey, PR and Scott, KR.

Covey-29 punt returns and 1 catch.

Scott- 8 kick returns and 20 carries

2 roster spots for 58 touches. I'd rather those 2 spots go to an extra backup safety, linebacker or DE.

For those who say Covey is too good of a punt returner to get rid of...Britain Covey had 29 returns and averaged 14.4 YPR, with a long of 54. Duvernay had 23 returns and averaged 12.6 YPR with a long of 70.

Duvernay is built for the slot at 5-11 202 and he's also younger than Covey believe it or not. He was pushed down in the depth chart this year with the addition of Zay Flowers and OBJ. Before this year, his career totals were 90 catches for 880 yards 5 TDs and 41 first downs. Not an overly impressive YPR but nearly half his catches went for 1st downs. I'll take that.
