Wasn’t there a report over the past couple weeks that they restructured kelce’s?

Yeah, they said it opened up 2024 cap space. Not sure we got more details than that.

Right, not exactly the same scenario, but it did bring back those some of those memories as I was watching it. Biggest difference is Reid stayed with us for all those years as we kept making those runs while Ben Johnson is almost certainly gone after one more season.

I actually think the Packers are gonna win the nfc north next year. Go look at the age of the Green Bay Packers roster. We’re one of the youngest teams in the league. They also had a ton of injuries throughout the course of the year. And they were right there with the 49ers in the divisional round. They smacked the Cowboys in the wild card on the road. They went into Detroit (and they were significantly under man with the injuries)  and smacked Detroit. If Jordan Love takes another step i could see them being better than the lions. Add on they have more draft capital due to the Rodgers trade and they have enough cap space (when they restructure and cut some dead weight) to make some moves to get themselves where they wanna go.

I said this during the draft, the lions are going to get stuck where the Rams got stuck. Jared Goff is good enough to win you a playoff game or two against inferior opponents (rams and bucs) but i think like what happen with the rams he tends to come up short against better ones (he had some drops vs. niners but he also missed some throws in that game). One time he didn’t it was an official making one of the worst no calls we’ve ever seen that sent the saints crying like the niners.

Jared Goff is a free agent at the end of 2024. So with how the quarterback market is hes likely going to get 50-60 mil. his home and away splits the last 3 years are concerning. I don’t think he’s worth that. It’s why I said at the time they should try to trade for CJ Stroud and then use Jared Goff like the Eagles did with Sam Bradford. I think once Jared Goff gets paid 50 to 60 mil which is a significant jump from his 30 million that he’s getting paid right now that’s gonna hurt them.

Think he might need 2 if we are being honest.

I better not see support for CJGJ in your post history. I will if I look, won't I?

BOOM

Someone I know who claims to be close to Fletcher's family says he is 100% done and wants to just go fish and hunt. Can't vouch for it, but he's been saying it since the beginning of the season that Cox would be done after 2023.

Makes sense. I said the same thing 2 or so week ago. He seems like a guy who can still play but would rather just enjoy life instead of being a football lifer.

McHonky is looking good out there.

I liked CJGJ as he was a play maker but I’m not going to say he should have been back. He made his decision that he wanted to get paid and then stuck his fingers up to us on the way out.

I guarantee he will rise to the Caucasian.

I’d take CJGJ back if he wants to play slot corner. He's an upgrade over Maddox in the slot. Problem is he wants to play safety cause he wants safety money. With the FA market looking as good as it does at safety i think the eagles will get an upgrade at safety to go with Blankenship.

He’s definitely a fire cracker type player

Oh, we thought you were talking about Byard.

Do you have to release a player who retires? Or can he just file the paperwork after 6/1? Because they need one of the post 6/1 spots for Bradberry, and BG's contract is structured the same way. So is Kelce's.

Cox is in a different boat than Kelce. He has some poison pill where they have to do something with contract before 6/1 or he gets like $30M in money. They would have to cut him and designate it post 6/1

Packers are up and coming for sure, but I think the Lions take the north again next year. Roster wise, I think the Packers are solid but not quite as deep as you'd like to see. Probably the biggest factor will be who they decide to hire for DC.

How do people think this year's CB class compares to last year?

Yeah, that is a safe assumption, the contract is structured in a way to be post June 1st.

Definitely on my short list in round 1 or 2

A player who retires is treated the same as a cut.  But you can designate the retirement as post June 1st, the catch being you have to carry the pre June cap it all the way to June.  However, the way Cox is structured, the impact of that is neutralized by having a minimum base salary.

Packers have 11 picks and 5 in the top 100. They are -2.8 mil cap but a lot of guys they can restructure or release and create up to like $45 mil in cap. Heck they have 92 mil of cap space set up for 2025. I tend to think the bigger thing for Gb is their DC. If they get a good DC then that team should easily make a big step. Their defense was injured all year and frankly should be better next year. Also the lions have stayed extremely healthy the past 2 years. I tend to think injuries eventually get you at some point. I think the lions have issues in their secondary and could use some help DL. they have to pay Goff and St. brown. It’s why i thought they should’ve stayed at 6 and taken Carter if they weren’t going to move up for cj stroud. He would be much more valuable with Hutchinson than Gibbs. I like Gibbs but Carter’s value to that defense is much harder to find than a running back. Especially when Montgomery looked great in that offense too

So the new defensive line coach not gonna lie I know nothing about him. Is he good? I know I could go back a few pages but I’m lazy.

I think last years top guys were better like Witherspoon, Gonzalez, Porter but this class is pretty darn good too and there should be legit guys there in round 2.
