Who doesn't like Chick Fil A? It's as good and reliable as you can get as far as fast food goes. Though I did finally get to try a popeye's chicken sandwich a year or so ago and I finally understood what the big fuss was about. Easily the best chicken sandwich I've ever had, but the location was out of the way so I haven't had it since. Chick Fil A has way better fries and shakes though.

some WR/CB 1 on 1s

Chau Smith-Wade is beat pretty much every rep.

Calen King doesnt win any reps, but isnt always in horrible position like Chau Smith-Wade is.

Pearsall has really nice releases even though Quinyon Mitchelll sticks right with him and wins the first rep. Pearsall falls down on 2 of his reps. Weird. Smokes Calen King later in the vid with a great route.

Brendan Rice overwhelms some nobody with size on his first rep. Nothing great there, but shows what a force he can be. Second rep drops the pass. But shows great quickness for a WR his size. Also has a big catch through a TON of defensive pass interference vs Johnny Dixon who appears to suck. Happens twice in a row.

Roman Wilson is like Kyle Phillips from UCLA a few years ago. I wanted Phillips so bad. And he was also an excellent return specialist. Roman Wilson is that unguardable but is also a pure slot and Im just not interested in that this year. Dont think the eagles will be looking for that type of player. Need speed.

Quinyon Mitchell is just always right on the hip of the WR. DRC, and prime Darius Slay stickiness.

Javon Baker is solid through and through. Just solid. Which will be great for a 3rd round pick field stretcher.

Same for Tez Walker.

Same for Cam Hart.

Not impressed by Corley or Cowing.

Not impressed by Max Melton.

Luke McCaffrey does not look good.

The CB/WRs on the other senior bowl team are very unexciting. Its pretty clear right away the only take aways of note are that Legette is not very good, and McConkey is smoooth. Hes unguardable like Roman Wilson, but bigger and faster.

Jamari Thrash has easy deep speed, and continues to make plays through PI which I wouldnt have expected.

Johnny Wilson is very big and very slow. He is supposed to be playing TE this week.

It would have been nice to see McConkey on the other team with some better DBs.

I think the PTSD would be too much to bare if the Eagles added a WR named Thrash

he apparently has drop issues. So im not sure what round you take a chance on him. 5th? I hope we have WR sorted out prior to that.

I saw a quote from New Heights that Kelce said Sirriani was really good about holding players accountable too and that’s not the first time I heard that. Encourages me because to my eyes the biggest issues by far were game planning and play calling on both sides of the ball so in theory if coordinators address those issues then the other facets like going for it and accountability etc are solid. We’ll see.

The flip side of the CEO HC is he reduces the burden on the coordinators, he takes care of a lot of details they don't have to, is the primary conduit for information to Howie, takes the media flak, and makes the tough decisions in terms of cutting players (so coordinators can play "good cop" with their side of the team). In that model, the coordinators focus on their responsibilities and don't have to deal with other crap. A good CEO delegates but holds his subordinates accountable as well. He focuses on the big issues but doesn't micromanage.

Problem with the CEO model is you need good, experienced coordinators. And you want them to groom their successors so you have continuity if they leave/retire.

You don't have to be a CEO HC to take on media flak. Any HC takes that on.

When the Eagles hired Sirianni, Gannon and Steichen I said I really liked the idea of a young coaching staff; fresh ideas, hungry, and upwardly mobile.  The challenge was always to keep a pipeline of succession because coordinators from winning teams will get poached for other head coaching opportunities.  Unfortunately, the Eagles thought they had that pipeline in place when, in fact, they did not.  Neither BJ nor Desai (from outside) were up to the job.

Now the current plan is experienced, highly regarded coordinators.  They still need the pipeline, though; Fangio is a grizzled 65 year old, and Moore has been part of the head coaching interview cycle before -- he'll want to jump at the next opportunity.  The Eagles still need to bring in upwardly mobile assistants to these coordinators.

I'd take Powers-Johnson over Cam Jurgens right now.

Ok, you triggered a memory.  A drunken conversation (with a former EMBer) in a Denver bar about the existence of:

I'm amused by all the talk of the Eagles taking DBs in the 1st round.  We do it every year pre-draft and then....

I'm not sure that the Eagles were ever on the verge of hiring Scott. Seattle likely didn't ever release him

That's a loss. Wanting to stay in Seattle over coming here also doesn't say much about our gold standard organization

Yep. They haven't taken a DB in the first round since 2002. History suggests it'll be a lineman. Whether it's on offense or defense remains to be seen but that's what I expect.

To be honest, sometimes it’s nothing more than somebody not wanting to pick up and move their family away from where they are settled.  It doesn’t necessarily mean anything else.

He was probably still under contract. Reports of the Eagles hiring him were probably premature

It’s certainly better than Wendy’s which is pre frozen garbage.

Seattle let all of their assistants free to explore options if they wanted to leave.
