  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

There were rumors about Quinn pairing up with Chip Kelly as his OC if he got the Seattle job. The OC hire will be crucial for Quinn.

That's a loss. Wanting to stay in Seattle over coming here also doesn't say much about our gold standard organization

I don't think it says anything at all, by itself.   I think it says that he'd rather not upend his family and move them across the country if he can stay put.   He's 38 years old with a wife and 2 girls.   Why would he want to upend their entire life if he doesn't have to?    I think far too often we forget that these coaches/players have families outside of the game (unless it is convenient for us to make it a selling point for coming to the Eagles).

A 38 year old coach with school age children who would likely rather stay in the same school, with their same friends... and his wife might want to stay in her same job, same house, same routine, etc.  Packing up your entire life is a necessity for these guys a lot.  However, all things being equal, I think they'd rather have some semblance of stability.   If they are going for a promotion, that's different but I think that if its just a lateral move, that staying in the same location likely has a whole lot of appeal.     There could be reasons to leave, but let's not pretend like there aren't very good reasons to stay, and they don't have to just be football related.

And let's remember, Mike MacDonald is a super star ascending young defensive mind.  He's gone from coaching intern with Baltimore to NFL HC in a matter of 10 years.  That's crazy.  Working under/with him might be quite appealing to a defensive coach, versus working under/with a guy like Fangio, who while highly regarded in many circles, might be viewing by younger coaches as more of a dinosaur with antiquated ideas.

It might work out, but it feels like Quinn was the best possible outcome for us Eagles fans.

Cowboys lose their best coordinator, Washington gets a good coach but someone who hasn't cut it as an HC in the past, Giants stand pat on pretty much everyone, Slowik and Ben Johnson stay put and can be next hiring cycle if Siri bombs again.  Regardless of how people feel about our coaching hires, a lot of things have broke well for us this off season so far.

Five of the eight HC hires were defensive coordinators. One other was Harbaugh. So only two OCs got HC jobs. That’s interesting considering recent trends.

Will be nice to have Dan Quinn out of Dallas.  Still a very talented defense though.

No idea if Kellen Moore would have been the top candidate for OC with Quinn, but I’m glad we got him before Washington potentially could.

Hopefully it gets announced as official soon

Vrabel not getting any real looks at a HC job is interesting since so many jobs were filled by defensive coaches and a CEO type in Harbaugh. He really struggled to find an OC after Arthur Smith left. Maybe that hurt him. I don’t know what kind of upside he has as a head coach, but he’s pretty solid.

That doesn’t bode well for Quinn.

I wonder if they just stick with Bieniemy. His name has been notably absent for teams looking for OC

Dallas apparently trying to hold onto Whitt as their DC.

I suppose it makes some sense. Maybe he’s just not that good except against Desai.

Add him to our list of prospective draft picks.

Someone's is desperate for a new source

Will impact his predraft workouts, but he should be 100% by rookie minicamp

The players didn't like Bieniemy at all from the exit interviews and probably the reason Ron stayed on for the entire season.

Lol, Schefter careying water for Bienemy’s agent. The guy didn’t even get an interview. No reason to even include him.

Don't think the Scott staying in Seattle is official btw so might end up being fake news.

Probably true. Even when they said to Eagles they said 'expected'. Much less certain than the others.  Similar to what Nussmeier report said but people ran with it more
