Hurts AND the schemes/coaching were the issue. It wasn’t one of them, it was both.

Yes, but it starts with the scheme / concepts.

That part is so bad that you can't even fairly evaluate Hurts' play.

At least nobody honest and objective can.

Id say the percentage would be overwhelmingly towards coaching and scheme.

Exactly. Same with the defense. Clearly this staff did everything but prepare this team for football.

I’m not blaming it all on him but there were times he didn’t even attempt to see wide open guys on plays. That’s on him. Or his football IQ was bad at times. Or he couldn’t read pre snap formations/blitzes coming. He rarely had a plan for each circumstance.

This.  Spot on.

And probably ignored by Howie and Jeffrey. I've never been this angry about the team as I am after reading what Adam said on the radio. I may literally feel hatred towards the team.

There were some of those moments.

There are a lot more moments, even videos posted in here, that show him having no options.

Same with defense??? Are you joking. The coordinators were terrible but between high fiving guys as a tackles or being completely lost in coverage, I would say that’s on the players. We need 5-7 new guys on defense. That is not the case on offense.

I'm going with probably 70/30 coaches to QB.

My biggest concern with Hurts is his personality / leadership style.

He has as much work to do there as he does continued growth as a player.

Not to mention seems like the built in audible seemed to be more of the same of the base scheme. I’d rather him draw his own play on a football than listen to the playcaller lol.

Allowing free runners at the QB doesn’t exactly allow you to get through reads lol

Is it true that we threw the ball inside the hash marks 5.2% of the time this season?

I’d say they didn’t practice with toughness and physicality. Our defense never had creative blitzes or good disguise of coverage. Constantly 8 yards, safeties playing 25 yards away allowing 8 yards every play lol. DL didn’t rush as a unit, no connectivity or scheme etc. Bad bad bad scheme and mentality.

It 100% feels like it. I’ve said it for weeks idk why we throw inside the numbers so much.

I brought this up to him weeks ago. When he wanted to fire desai. I said you could fire desai. I don’t care if you do or don’t. It’s not changing the problem your bigger problem. You have a personnel problem because half your defense is not good. They’ve fallen off a cliff, always hurt or just not that good

james bradberry— fell off a cliff (he’s over 30 sheil continuously talks about this with corners over 30)

slay— can’t stay as he’s over 30

byard— was bad with vrabel in 2023 before coming here. So vrabel who’s a damn good defensive coach couldn’t maximize his talent. Cause he’s likely in decline

blankenship— can’t stay healthy and regressed as the season went on cause more tape exposed him and he never had to start this many games at this level

linebackers— literally there is not one linebacker on this team that should be starting at the NFL level. I don’t know how you’re going to prepare linebackers who have no business starting at the NFL level and get them to be playing at a good level. I am sorry, no defensive coordinator is getting that crap at linebacker to play at a high-level because of preparation.

the DL is about the only group that doesn’t have an overwhelming personnel problem on defense and should’ve been better.

I heard that too.   Crazy and the LOWEST percentage of any QB that qualified to be considered.     I believe it though.  Matches what my eyes were telling me.

I would be curious what the number is between the inside of the numbers is.   It felt like this offense ran about 3/4 of the pass plays from the numbers to the sidelines.

How much tight bunch did we see versus the blitz? How much bunch at all? How many WRs in motion snapping the ball while they’re running to get some advantage over the defense? No slants, no mesh, no crossers, even a slip screen to the RB with such an aggressive blitz could work. Could also get under center and match their 6 man from and go heavy, and count the weak side of the defense and have a puller give an extra lead blocker etc.

No formation/route/running creativity at all.

Yep.  I made an entire thread about it.

It’s Hurts and receivers strengths (Hurts over 105 QB rating) yet they throw it there the lowest % in the entire NFL - out of all 32 starting QB‘s.

Thats simply inexcusable.

Kelce talking about he doesn’t know what the future holds with anyone in the building but the exit interviews will start that process to figuring it out.

Exactly what I figured.

I want to like Coop more than what I do right now. He's got good size, but doesn't **** away in any category. I like some of the other corners a little more.

I think this team is done with Siriani. It’s probably my bias, I can’t wait to hear the stories rolling out about this collapse either when he’s fired or when players go elsewhere.

Maybe the one thing Steichen was good at that helped make Hurts look as good as he did last year was guiding him where to throw the ball.

I can't recall last year how often guys were wide open because of scheme.  I recall many times Hurts making quicker decisions with the ball.  I remember him throwing balls to AJ and Devonta even though they were covered but they just made plays.  I also remember Hurts running alot more last year and being that scramble threat.

Otherwise I don't think Hurts is good at reading defenses or going thru progressions.  Does he do it sometimes, sure but not enough as he should.

I was mistaken - Hurts has a PERFECT 158 passer rating to intermediate passes to the middle of the field this season!  99+ rating to short middle.

Yet only 5% of the plays are called there!  INEXCUSABLE.

In their draft we’d be getting Kamari Lessiter from Georgia. Not a chance we let a bulldog get past us.
