The offense was fine except for the QB and playcalling. IMO

It's not the play calling, it's the play design.  The QB did what he could with an offense that had no answers to any defense.  I'd say Smith is the only player who played well the 2nd half of the season.  Speaks to his talent.  But they didn't play well because they were not given the opportunities to play well.

I’m not in the building so what do I know, but I’m not a fan of retaining basically the entire offensive staff besides Brian Johnson and Alex Tanney. Feels like a major half measure they love to do that will result in the coaching staff clashing all season.

It’s going to be Moore and his buddy vs the rest of staff who were buddies of Brian Johnson and miffed he took the fall vs whatever Sirianni wants to interject in the offense.

How dare you criticize the Eagles?!  Don't you know we should be on our knees thanking Lurie and Howie for everything they do.

This is why you are part of the worst fanbase in all of pro sports.

Thankfully removes him as a trade candidate.

The problem is that they are now going to be even more in seller mode. And just yesterday it came out that we are willing to give a 1st for DeRozan.

DeRozan will help keep the team afloat this season forming a good scoring duo with Maxey. But thats a waste of a 1st round pick when they need assets for the summer time since there are no really good free agents to just pay on the free agent market. Theyre going to need to make trades.

Not harsh at all. It's the truth right now unfortunately.

You have to remember that these are college seniors with very little time together. Several of the more talented players practiced for the scouts but didn't play in the game. I watched part of it, the great football drought is soon to be upon us.

Some of ESP's best work here.

Did he mention what Simmons has done for the franchise that is deserving of applause?

This WR draft is just so ridiculous. There are so many guys that Im not even excited about someone like Polk when in reality, Polk looks like a Diggs type of player. He isnt a speedster but just fast enough to be dangerous. Such strong hands, really holds on to balls you wouldnt expect him to with some of the hits he takes.

I just looked at some Burton, and nobody talks about him. He looks like another DJ Moore. Really solid route runner. Not the biggest guy, but plays bigger than he is. Strong hands on him as well. Wants to run after the catch. And has speed to burn.

These guys havent been on my list of wants. Ive hardly even paid attention to them. Theyre not the exciting 6'3'' speedsters that this draft has plenty of. They arent the incredible route runners like McConkey and Pearsall.

But they are really, really solid all around players who belong very high in round 2 and will likely go late 2 or in to the 3rd round because there are so damn many WRs. And if the eagles took one of these guys, I wouldnt be one bit upset. They both look like they have inside outside versatility.

And I think Burton has the speed we should be looking to add.

I’m not either. Hopefully Marcus Brady at least gets replaced with a non Sirriani guy. And really one more should go

who is familiar with the reasons for the plight of Darnell Mooney? Really promising young WR who has been really down the last 2 years.

Hes a speed guy who would be able to start outside if needed, with major upside (I think). And wouldnt break the bank.

sportrac thinks Gabriel Davis will cost about 13.6M, and Mooney will be about 10.4M.

Rashid Shaheed is another guy who might be an under the radar speed guy who does pretty well when he gets opportunities. Id be fine with him as the WR3 who can also start outside when needed. No estimate on his salary.

edit: nevermind I guess Shaheed is restricted. Though with no money maybe the saints dont tender him.

They should be trying to get Caruso from the Bulls.

I actually think it was both the play calling and the play design. But I also think that when you have less options installed, your play calling gets worse too if you have a style that relies on variety. So maybe a 'both made each other worse' is a fair take.

I see PFF reports like this and can't help but think that if they were elite, why did it seem like they could never get a run game going, couldn't stop a blitz to save their life and Hurts was always running for his life? I can't think of a game where the OL looked elite as a unit and just took over a game.

First things first, PFF sucks. Even when they're praising our dudes.

Hurts was running for his life on his own accord a whole lot this year, reverted back to his 2022 self. Bailing out of clean pockets and running himself right into pressure.

Also hard to get going in the run game when your idiot coaching staff calls 6 runs in the first quarter and then 4 the rest of the game. They never stuck to the run enough to accurately judge.

All that said, I don't think the line was elite as normal but they weren't as bad as they looked due to poor coaching and QB regression (which could likely have also been caused by poor coaching)

They're graded vs other OL, not based on play results. I get what you're saying though, grading in general is tough to get right.

I’m sure coaches love working with Daboll.

Oh geez. So there's this article with this quote about Kellen Moore. It details something that a lot of people had been saying - the accusations that Dallas got better offensively when Kellen Moore left. Check this out.

I just want Chip to get the Commies OC job. It's all I ask for. Please let it happen.

WR class is super deep. Eagles need to come away with a #3 in this one.

For those who want a little nostalgia, NFL channel is doing a "Super Bowl in 30 minutes" film session. Old school NFL Films with John Facenda. They're on Super Bowl 8 I think.

Dak didn’t play in 5 games in 2022 also. The 2021 offense was very good. In any case good coaches learn with each success and failure and you hope he’s a good coach
