One week later I still can’t believe the lions lost

Hopefully Spagnuolo gets it done.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

It will be the most watched by a large margin.

It has to be only because of swift. This is the most unappealing matchup in a long time, two insufferable teams.  Anecdotal but I know a lot of people who aren't watching this year because no one wants to see either team win. Myself included, F this season

To you. They have the face of the league in Mahomes and eventual GOAT QB if he keeps up the rate. Versus the most exciting NFL offense, and a storied franchise in SF. Insufferable is subjective and it quantifiable so won’t have any effect on viewers/popularity. Swift will help of course.

Dude's mental make-up is just weak.

But then again, its not entirely his fault - he is Australian

I hope they put Jalen back in during the 4th.

EDIT: Yeah, looks like he and Swift are going to be getting in soon.

From an outsider perspective, I think this game is not too dissimilar to match-up form last year.

You have the best QB in the league - potentially the guy that breaks Brady's record vs the most complete team in the NFC. You also have a great coaching matchup with two of the best offensive minds up against each other which probably makes up for the drop-off in Hurts (last years version) to Purdy as a QB match-up.

The game appeals to the casual viewer.

Mayfield about to get paid

Which will be a mistake

I don’t care to see either team win a SB but I think it will be a good game to watch. It feels like a high floor low ceiling type matchup.

I could see the 49ers just blowing out the Chiefs unfortunately.  Chiefs just don't have the horses to keep up if 49ers start rolling.

I won’t be watching the Super Bowl, although it would be interesting to see if Mr. Irrelevant wins a Super Bowl at QB if that would finally create the paradigm shift necessary for franchises to stop paying middling QBs at elite QB salaries on the thinking "we have to have an elite QB to compete”.  It might drive the draft away from QBs going top of first round

Facts are proving out that a budget QB surrounded by an elite roster is the formula for a Super Bowl push

Except for the guy off to his 4th SB in 6 years as a starter.

But I agree with your overall point, that dude is an anomaly and different animal. There is only one of him. This obsession with every new QB extension needing to be the highest in the league needs to end.

If the niners win they're going to be paying a middling QB at an elite salary and they'll never win again with him. I think it's pretty well known that having a cost controlled QB is key to winning, the problem is when you have a QB that can win they're going to demand elite money regardless of how good they are. Purdy is about to be a perfect example of that. 11th best guy on the offense and he's about to get $50 mil because they won with him

Yeah I don't get not wanting to watch because of the teams.

I dont like either team myself but I can't wait for this game.  At the end of the day I don't care about the teams or Taylor Swift.  I just want a good, entertaining game which I think will happen.

Nice trip down memory lane.

After seeing that Hurts to Lamb connection I was wondering if Dak was there. He's not, supposedly his gf's due date is approaching. But I highly doubt that is the reason he's probably too embarrassed after 1/14.

Refs are even terrible in flag football too.

Hey now... its their Pro Bowl too.   Let them have their moment to shine.  Everyone is tuning in to see them do their thing.

As for the Super Bowl this year:

That’s a violation

So FIFA is going to be playing at MetLife. They are using grass for soccer but it's not permanent for the NFL. I don't understand the thinking here. You have a perfect opportunity to just make natural grass the playing surface at the most complained about field in the NFL. They will do this for FIFA but not for the teams that call the stadium home. Notre Dame did the same thing in their stadium. They put grass down for soccer but revert to turf for football. They claim the field turf makes the stadiums more capable of hosting different sports but if they have to install grass to play soccer I don't understand that argument one bit. Unless they are playing field hockey in huge stadiums, there's no need for field turf. Yes, grass will get beat up but it's just the better surface. Old school in me also misses when you knew going in to Notre Dame you were playing on about 4" of grass.
