CLE don’t have a pick in the 2024 draft until #55 overall.  I wonder if Howie would see any value in trading #50 and 97 overall for #55 and 86, maybe try to squeeze an extra late round pick out of the deal — say #205.  Eagles don’t have any picks after #189 currently.

I don't know but have read that this is not a deep draft.  If true, is there a big difference between #205 and the FA group?  I see Howie making trades to move up rather than collecting later round picks.

Sure.  But Elway got to 3 long before that final resurgence.

"I knew John Elway, John Elway was a friend of mine.   Dak Prescott is no John Elway."

Carried and dragged his team to 3.

If the niners win they're going to be paying a middling QB at an elite salary and they'll never win again with him. I think it's pretty well known that having a cost controlled QB is key to winning, the problem is when you have a QB that can win they're going to demand elite money regardless of how good they are. Purdy is about to be a perfect example of that. 11th best guy on the offense and he's about to get $50 mil because they won with him

We should probably take off our hater glasses.  This 11th best guy on offense is a little ridiculous don’t you think?  The kid is pretty darn good.

The dude is nothing special, he's a JAG in a stacked offense. The offense is schemed so well that I would wager that the average difficulty level of his throws is probably bottom five in the league (as in he has the easiest throws to make). That entire team succeeds on the back of CMC, and Purdy gets all the credit for it. The niners are lucky they have this version of CMC and not the one that seemed to be injured all the time in Carolina.

If you want to say he's better than one of their linemen then yea maybe not 11th best. But he's certainly behind CMC, Trent Williams, deebo, kittle, aiyuk. So at best he's the 6th best guy on that offense. Put any QB with half a brain in San Fran and the results are the same. The only reason Purdy gets any attention is because he was Mr irrelevant.

Embiid is essentially the Lamar Jackson of the nba.

I was wrong here. Figured as one of Siri’s guys he’d only leave for an OC job. Maybe he felt a bit redundant with Moore here who is more experienced and doesn’t need his help, especially with Patullo also here who is a pass game guy.

Roman is more a run specialist so could  be a bigger role for him designing up pass plays with Charges.

Saw somewhere he’s going to be the pass game coordinator

Disagree strongly that any QB could do it.  If that were true then Trey Lance would be their QB.  I could name many more, but why bother?

More evidence why QB is played between the ears most importantly. People get too enamored with the physical traits there

Bit older

His best skill is, he doesn't try to do too much.  He knows his job is to get the ball into the hands of the playmakers, and he does it.  And he does it generally without making mistakes.   And when you have those skill position players around him, that's all he needs to do.   And he's doing very well in that role.    It will be interesting to see what happens if his salary explodes and they can't have such a lethal group of skill players around him, and not have such a great defense backing him up.   On a rookie deal, he's ideal.   If he gets a $50M/year contract, I think that's going to expose him a bit.    Then again, what quarterback hasn't that contract level really exposed?   Only one to date is Mahomes, and even he had a down year this past season, but he righted the ship enough to win in the playoffs.

Purdys biggest plays this postseason have been scrambling into wide open patches of grass and bouncing a pass off the opposing teams facemask.

I think I feel about Purdy how the 49ers felt about James Bradberry last season.

Definitely weird how much the dude is disrespected like he's not even playing like an NFL QB. His success is just happenstance because of his surrounding cast. The man could win Superbowl MVP and the narrative would probably remain the same yet he would have done something our franchise QB has not.

He has a passer rating of 113 and people are acting like he's Trent Dilfer on the 2000 Ravens.

It's definitely not that weird considering he's not that good.

Foles won SB MVP and the league never considered him a starter.

His down year was due to Reid totally neglecting the WR position period. Feels like they treated WR like they treated LBs in Philly this year. For the most part though they were right given that they are in the SB. The growing pains for Rice were worth going through during the regular season I suppose.

Foles couldn't stay healthy. That's why he wasn't considered a starter IMO. Purdy is plenty good given his accuracy and surprisingly play making ability with his mobility. The man hasn't even played two full seasons yet as a starter either. Seems like a lot of denial around these parts that he's actually pretty good because of the 9er hate. He's better than any of their recent QBs ever were in just his 2nd year.

He has an elite scheme/coach with the best rb in the game and a weapon in deebo. That the coach knows how to leverage.

i think he is a replacement level qb thats a function of the scheme, where he is a good fit

He's average and they got this far with Jimmy Garoppolo and Colin Kaepernick. Saying he's better than Nick Mullens or Trey Lance is not saying anything at all.

He's not that accurate, but hes athletic and can throw short passes. It's not denial to accurately assess him as an average NFL QB.

Let's see what the Niners think of him.  Surely he'll get a mega deal right?

To me, I ask myself how many other QBs can perform at that level in the same circumstances (especially at that age*.)  I come up with 10, maybe 15. That's why I think it's silly to act like anyone could do what he's doing.

*I know it's blasphemy to speak about because we all hate the Niners, but he's still really young and might get even better with experience.

He's not doing avg things though lol. That's just your opinion at this point.

Ok so rank the NFL QBs until you get to Purdy

He was also super streaky. Looked like an all-pro QB one minute, and then a journeyman backup the next. The good Foles was really good, but the bad Foles couldn't keep a job on several teams.

Worse.

How many of his movies have you re-watched?

Should be 0.
