As great as football is, I’m not letting a 40,000$ ring have that dramatic an impact on my descendants. My great great great great granddaughter won’t give a crap about whether I won a SB for the eagles or won an MVP for the Falcons; she’ll  be worried about whether she has to work at McDonald’s to pay her college tuition.

If you net $20M, that shouldn't be a problem unless your grand children are idiots, in which case they can blow any amount of money you leave them.

And given how many tragic endings for rich kids, maybe it won't hurt your great great  . .. to work at McDonalds' to pay her college tuition.

We finally get a home opener and they steal it from us to go play in some part of the world where nobody gives a flying F about the eagles or football. fing stupid.

There is an interesting subplot to international games: they let you choose your bye week. It’s either right after that game, or sometime later of your choice. Since we can’t have a bye in week 2, we can ask the nfl to have our bye super late

80 million today is what 5 million was worth in 1920. Inflation has gone up 16x in the last 100 years, and there is no indication that is slowing down. The money is so much more important than "competitive ego”, it’s livelihood of human beings.

Hollywood Jeff just giving away home games so he can have his international spectacle.

At least opening on the Friday night gives the Eagles two days of rest before their week 2 game.

Get ready for over 40 passes that game.

For the passing plays, the two goal line ones had some interesting wrinkles, but everything else seemed like boilerplate type stuff that most offenses around the league employ.

I enjoy stirring the pot in here, so I'll just drop these and then sleep for the night as you all let it waft around for a bit:

Jason Kelce is being a bit of a publicity ****.  Nah.  More than a bit.

Retire.  Don't retire.  You do you.  But he's sucking the life out of this.  He's not Michael Jordan.  Not even Jeter or Brady.  The spotlight fades once he makes the announcement and he's doing everything possible to keep it.  I just hope he at least internally told the Eagles so they can plan accordingly.

I'm ready for him to retire whenever he decides.  Obviously great player but they've drafted 2 guys to replace him, Dickerson and Jurgens.  Dickerson seems like hes staying at Guard but could play Center if Jurgens sucks at it or gets hurt.

I’m not very sentimental with players.  I don’t treasure watching anyone play.  I treasure winning.

And while Kelce is still playing pro bowl level center, I’m more interested in seeing the future of the roster take shape.  And he’s standing in the way of that future as we watch a second round pick play out of position at RG and underachieve.

The Eagles are hitting a mini reset and are probably eying 2025 more than 2024 as their build up and strike season.  At that point, another year of Kelce may be 2 more years of Kelce and before we know it he’ll just be Jason Petersing it.

Are we going to reach a point where we have too much technology? After seeing this Apple VR headset all day and now this, I just get this feeling that we have way too much technology to rely on anymore.

Not sure why they keep effing with fields that teams have no complaints over. You think they would've learned from last year...

Off topic, but I don’t think NFL players talk about locker rooms and leadership nearly as often as fans and media ask about it and force them to discuss it.

These guys are professionals; effort waxes and wanes due to contract issues and GMs more than it does due to veteran leaders and coaching leadership.

I think its also more true today with limited practices, stronger player unions, and NIL/professionalized college experiences.

Thats why I don’t value "CEO/wellness coaches” like Siriani or overpaying veterans for sentimental leadership.

Granted, I say this on the heels of a season in which the Eagles seemingly just tapped out for reasons that are aggressively being swept under the rug.

The exception to this is "leadership” on the field.  Literally someone controlling the huddle, communicating with less experienced players, etc.

The Cowboys never get jerked around with their schedule like this. The NFL always makes sure to give Dallas a nice cushion. Forbid the NFL steps on Jerry Jones' toes once in a while. And Dallas will have their bye right around their Thanksgiving game too, so they can get that extra rest precisely when they need it.

That's why I said "or." To replace Patullo or to replace Brady.

Oh ok. No.

People are asking him questions. He isn’t making statements on his own. This is a big decision in someone’s career. Why are you mad that he isn’t going at your pace?

I like the game in Brazil.  Mix things up.  I can't wait for the photos of the players walking on the top less beaches followed by Brazilian paternity suits in May 2025.  I can see the headline now: "Eagles left a few pair of jenes in Brazil".

This will single handily make Cox play one more year.

That’s awesome but they don’t put great jockeys on donkeys

I can't believe Jason Kelce didn't fully commit to retirement to that random fan filming him in Orlando.  What an attention ****. :furious:

Hey I'm not expecting anything to be fixed overnight, but at least great jockeys can recognize whatever the horse equivalent is to "a good Linebacker and Safety" is in this analogy.
