the 4 week time table indicates he opted for a partial menisectomy rather than an actual repair. Bad long term health decision, but itll allow him to play in the olypics and Im sure his biggest goal right now is a gold medal for his personal trophy case.

So, it shouldnt change anything for them at the deadline. He will be back in about 4 weeks and play the remainder of the regular season. They should plan just as they were before this happened. If anything, this makes this year more crucial, because he has had numerous meniscus injuries already. That knee has to be pretty close to shot. Hes not gonna last much longer.

Yeah that's what I meant. If he was done for the year then it didn't make much sense to waste any assets on acquiring a player for this year. If he's presumably coming back then that changes their approach to the deadline. Either way probably not the best idea to bring him back but it is what it is. That window will be closing sooner than later.

We're happy to have you

Were the international games in London what drew you to the NFL?

Hahaha

Nah.  Growing up in the late 80s, we used to get short highlights of the Sunday games on the Saturday after on our terrestrial TV.  It was super strange but always stuck with me even results were hard to come by.  Roll it forward, had the chance to go to a game in Philly in 2003, and the rest is history.

Hope you got a towel

Jason Kelce is going to Tom Brady his retirement.  Jason Kelce has been an incredible iron man in his career, but when you hang on like this, careers are far more likely to end on IR than with a parade.

I'm not worried about Hurts, the RPO was a short-term trick offense, it wasn't sustainable, all running QBs have to learn how to play out of the pocket (Lamar? You hearin' me?).

Hurts problem was more the offense, I think some stat showed he had one of the highest margins over expected value as a passer, the problem was the scheme didn't get targets open - he might have been MVP if he could have played his defense every week. 😁

Johnson did start the transition of Hurts to a pocket passer with mobility, instead of a running QB - it wasn't going to be a one season transition. But Johnson simply was over his head at OC, and they ended up with the worst of both worlds, a somewhat hobbled (though not as bad as some suggest (he still ran for 605 yards and 15 TDs) QB in a passing offense that put a lot of pressure on him in the pocket.

Moore should be able to give him a better profile of targets and routes, and hopefully Howie will upgrade Watkins, find a RB who can pick up a blitz, and a 2nd TE who teams have to respect. Hurts will have a learning curve, how to use motion to expose a defense, timing on underneath routes instead of hitting stationary targets, real screen plays instead of those stupid WR screens, etc.

Hurts has an above average arm and above average accuracy (especially deep balls) - but he needs a scheme that gives him some easy throws, chucking it up to Brown and hope he makes a play is not a viable long-term offense.

In Moore's offense, I suspect the RPO becomes a "look" to make life harder for opposing DCs, not a mainstay of the offense.

You say you aren’t worried about Hurts, but the entire content of your post screams that we should be worried about Hurts.

Siriani and BJ are not and were not true RPO coaches.  They ran it FOR Hurts because he wasn’t ready to be a traditional passer.

And then they tried to transition out of an unsustainable offense.  The coaching and the scheme may have been problematic, but they were literally trying to conceal Hurts’ weaknesses and inch him along as a more traditional passer.

I suspect he will be the LB coach.

He was there pre Fangio and isnt one of his guys.

There have been reports about Dolphins staff not gelling and given he is known to be Fiery - I suspect there may be some issues with him and Fangio

I’m far more optimistic about everything with these coaching figures, this is a huge potential turnaround. I mean from how the season ended until now you have to be pleased with these moves.

Goodell is underpaid.

There's probably about 100 people that do all the work that should get paid more.

Eskin said on WIP Eagles people told him Hurts will be having no procedures done this offseason. That his injury was just a bone bruise. And that speculation something worse was going on is incorrect. That's concerning. The guy didn't lose a step in 2023, he lost like 5 steps. He went from being able to rip off 30 yard runs, to not even being able to beat DEs around the edge. Damn near unheard of for a player without a significant lower body injury to lose that much in one offseason. If Hurts can't get his 2022 legs back, he simply isn't worth the money he was paid. It's what made him so dangerous in the overall skill set.

He looked so much slower in 2023 vs 2022. Wonder what happened there if not injury related

Tend to agree with this.

Huge media news: ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros are planning to launch a joint sports streaming service later this year.

The move will place content from ESPN, TNT, and Fox Sports on a new standalone app and will have significant ramifications for the future of TV sports.

The platform does not yet have a name or a price.

To go to??  Pretty much an apples and oranges comparison.  The Super Bowl is one game, which makes it an event.  It resembles what a championship boxing match used to be -- and very few folks could ever afford to just plunk down the cash to see Hagler-Hearns, or Ali-Frazier.

All of the other 3 sports are best-of-7 series.  Only a Game 7 could match the "environment" of a Super Bowl.

It’s only 1 game.

Nothing in sports comes close to matching the moment of the Super Bowl.

Shouldn’t be 12 hours from Philly.  Probably closer to 10 - 10 1/2 hours and maybe faster since their charter will likely fly faster (not worried about fuel efficiency like the airlines are).

Seriously disagreeing about 1 1/2 hours?   I think we would all agree a flight over 8 hours is grueling.  I have flown overseas coach and business class (more of the latter by far). Even those nice lay down business class bunks don’t accommodate a 6+’ 200 pound frame so 75% plus of the team won’t be comfortable.  Add to that the pain coming out of TC/PS plus any pain from the game.  Anyway you cut it, the trip kind of sucks for the players and could have a residual impact on week 2.

I doubt that Disney would want to partner with Fox and Warner Bros to launch a completely new Sports service...I could see Disney adding a sports membership to Hulu, which they also own.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I tend to agree.

I’ve flown trans Atlantic flight easily over 60-70 times (or more, lost count years ago) They are very long flights - anywhere from 7 - 11+ hours throughout my lifetime.

I will say though, there is a difference between 11 hours and closer to 8 hours when you’re up there that long.  The flights closer to 8 hours are bearable.  The 11 hour flights can become annoying - especially if you’re in coach and above 5’8 and 180lbs (I’m about 6’0 220).

I’m guessing their charter should fly faster than the air lines and likely get them there in close to 9ish hours.  (Give or take)
