The fact that the Eagles used Hurts as the short yardage running back this year does not mean he had a good year as a quarterback.

Not sure what you’re trying to get at.

Why is he on his 3rd offensive coach?

Bruh - you don’t want to go there, I promise you

Jalen is my guy.  But if all of a sudden he’s not my guy anymore - good luck to him.

I’m not saying I don’t want to see him improve…he certainly needs to.  I was only discussing him vs McNabb.  I liked McNabb too (more early career McNabb than late).

As to why Hurts is on his 3rd OC when McNabb wasn’t…lots of reasons:

1). Front office dynamic is very different than it was with Andy

2). Hurts and the Eagles reached the SB leading to one OC getting poached

3). McNabb had a HC that was also the brains behind the offense…and the play caller

Don’t take my rebuttal as me saying I think Hurts above any criticism…he’s not at all and need to improve.  I’m only saying it’s way too early to claim McNabb as a superior QB.  He wasn’t exactly a HoF’er.  He’s in the hall of good to very good (but not good enough).  Which, quite frankly, looks to be the same path that Hurts is on so far.

Losers make excuses

he failed at Bama too and lost his job. For most of the same issues

Again…I was only comparing him to McNabb.  And it’s fair to point out the differences in their situations.  There is no reason to assume I meant any more than that

Isn't he the UCLA HC?

It's a direct result of the direction the NCAA and college football is headed. Be prepared for more and more college HC to move to the NFL as coordinators. Until the transfer portal, NIL, mega conference realignment issues are fixed, guys are going to keep leaving.

Completely agree with this

Just weird that Solak referred to him as the Oregon HC when he hasn't been that in years and he's currently the HC at UCLA. Not even former Oregon HC

Didn't even notice that part. Yea, poor job by Solak.

This is crazy. Do they share the gambling hotline phone number like they do after lottery ads on TV or do they celebrate this?

Mcnabb had one noteworthy season as a passer in his entire career.  He had FOUR seasons as a starter early in his career with a great OL, quality TEs, a top running game, consistent HOF offensive coaching, hyper elite defense, and terrible WRs.

He spent 6 more years with the Eagles where he really had it all.  He really only did anything with it in 2004.

Lots of wins and pro-bowls, but in hindsight, kind of meh.

This isn’t really fair…in the history of the Eagles, there’s been 2.5 noteworthy passing seasons by a QB.

4th last year in total touchdowns

4th this year in total touchdowns

Stop looking at stat sheets only…he was great last year.  As a player.  Very good as a QB.  This year he was one of the, if not the biggest issue player wise on O.

Does it matter? Would you be happier if he had 1 yard TD passes instead of runs with less success? How many times did we see his WRs come up 1 yard short of a TD this year. Smitty had a number of those.

Honestly, yes…the reliance on the tush push this year got way overboard.  The fact that only minor injuries (that we know of) occurred is a blessing.  Hurts 100% got a concussion this year on one too.

Yup.   And the admission that their thinking is that they only needed to get 9 yards rather than 10 yards for a first down just highlights the issues, and illuminates one of their greatest drop offs from last year to this past one... the red zone.   They weren't trying to score TDs, they were trying to set up a Tush Push opportunity.   They really were playing with one hand tied behind their back.   It was touted as a great weapon... and it is... BUT, if the only tool you own is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.

The Tush Push LIMITED the offense, because of how reliant they were on it.  Their goal was to get into situations to use it, rather than run a proper offense.

Ok... tell the new coordinator to do shovel passes at the 1 to make you happy

Or tell the qb to make better throws than enable his wrs to score

That’s pretty awesome…maybe I’ll send a letter to the Eagles next off season to be the new HC.  I’ll have to send the picture later, but my wife sent the Eagles a wedding invitation and we got a nice letter from them.

.1 % more bad throws this year compared to last year. 1.1% higher on target percentage.

He took 2 less sacks this year in 17 games than he took last year in 15 games.

He has 32 less RPO passing attempts and 52 less play action attempts (in 2 more regular season games)

He’s had the same amount of fumbles every year of his career.

He had 15 INTs, and 12th in QBR  If you look at the interceptions individually, I’d say 3 of them are awful passes by hurts… the rest are tips, Goedert falling and dropping, Quez’s no effort INT, and incredible sideline toe touches by DBs. I’d expect these to fall next season, especially the spectacular catches by the DBs.

Did he have as good of a year as last year… no. Does that mean he has one year to prove himself… also no. Does that mean he sucks… also no. Does the coaching staff and their inability to optimize their weapons, Offensive creativity, and consistency of running bad obvious plays over and over contribute to how we see him… yes.

Defensively we went from 12th best to 3rd worst on opponent 3rd Down conversion %. Keeps the ball out of the offenses hands, wears down defense. The defense was 30th in points, 26th in yards, and 27th in turnovers; dropping year over year from 8th, 2nd, and 3rd.

Lastly if you compare the strength of schedules of each season, you’ll notice a massive difference of contending teams and higher quality defenses.

The entire team looked off from the beginning of the season, and after their 10-1 start they were completely lost. Defensively, offensively there was no fire, no flow, no team scheme, no identity, no adjustments. I can’t just say Hurts is the problem, clearly it’s much more than just him.

Saying Hurts was possibly the biggest issue of the offense is insane. I’d say whoever was drawing up plays and calling then was much worse. Very few variety of rushes. Misuse of personnel. Inability to create schemes to counter the blitz. Constantly relying on WR screens as offense. Lack of consistency of motion, lack of use of Swift as a receiving threat, lack of AJ and Smitty attacking the middle of the field.

Mariota played a little and I think one of his first passes was an INT to a WR screen lol. I can’t blame hurts for that sour stale spoiled yeah we ran last year.

Tend to agree with this.

Agreed.  Mostly because  a sizeable % of the people in attendance are either not fans of either team or are just there to be there\seen.

Huge media news: ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros are planning to launch a joint sports streaming service later this year.

The move will place content from ESPN, TNT, and Fox Sports on a new standalone app and will have significant ramifications for the future of TV sports.

The platform does not yet have a name or a price.

If it includes ESPN, then does it also include ABC?

Hurts couldn’t have been that bad he started the pro bowl so worst case he was good that and the 40 tds, somebody has to get us down together 1 to even push.
He also had a some quality wins like Buffalo and KC

Hurts was top 10, but not top 5, this year. So if your bar is Mahomes/Allen, then yes you'll be disappointed.

Would be great for the rivalry. He's a guy you love to hate.

Really want Caruso but sounds like the Bulls are being absurd in their asking price for him.
