I don't know. McNabb just wasn't clutch. Even if he eliminated worm burners, I don't know if he had won.  I think Reid needed to get him a receiver earlier in his career.  If he had gone all out to get a number one WR, I think McNabb's trajectory may have been much different.

🤔. Wouldn't that imply that early on the offense wasn't doing its job?  6 points in the first half isn't getting it done.   3 turnovers in the game... 2 of them belonged to McNabb.

The offense was not very good outside of the third quarter of that game where they exploded for 19 points. Really the eagles as a team didn’t play well the first half of that game.

yup. What was funny is i sent my friend at halftime a text saying either the eagles are going to come all the way back and blow it in the end or just continued to get destroyed. When they came back he texted me saying "way to put that into the universe”

People need to recognize what Hurts actually was this past season -- very, very average.  The organization invested top-tier QB salary in Hurts for the next 5 years; he has to be top 8 in all facets or he's simply not worth the investment.  The bar is an elite QB for elite QB investment; he's got to be top quartile and he simply wasn't this past season.

 

You can't assess Hurts play from the QB position and not factor in the element he adds as a rusher, and effectiveness at converting short yardage 3rd and 4th downs. Same as Lamar or Allen (and to a lesser extent Mahomes) - they all bring something to the table that passing stats simply don't capture.

 To me he was nowhere top 5 and definitely was in the top 15.

Was he top 10? Very debatable, and if he is on that list, he is certainly near the bottom based on last year's play. If you have him just outside the top 10, that is fine too. ~8 - 13 is probably the reasonable range.

Wouldn't have had to make such a huge comeback if McNabb wasn't so trash in the first half and to open the second half by fumbling it away.
