  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Well, you had the Phillies lose a World Series after leading the series including having a no hitter at home in there to follow that up with leading the NLCS series and losing that as well. Sixers got bounced in the second round after a 3-2 lead followed by Embiid getting hurt and probably losing in the first round. Flyers always sucked and once they get interesting their Goalie is arrested for sexual assault. And the Union lost their little soccer championship because of OT penalty kicks.

All on top of losing a SB after leading by 10 at halftime and then the worst collapse in team history.

QB play was down across the league though. Not sure what the hell happened. Dumb schedules maybe.

No brady or rogers

its a generational turnover. One of the worst years across the league in a long time

Cowboys should hire that dude. He stunk.

Seems like defenses finally caught up to the kiddie schemes that are out there. Felt like only the Eagles couldn't figure that crap out. Brady himself has been calling the QBs and the offenses out.

I think Van Sumeran will be in the mix, at worst the next Bradley, ST specialist who can fill in, at best with a year under his belt he learns how to use that elite athleticism on the field.

Good point. And yes sure but I don't think you can go into TC counting on that developmental jump happening where he is your #1 guy off the bench. They need to go into summer with 3 - 4 guys above him and give him the chance to compete to climb into the top 4, or alternatively force them to carry 5 LBs on the roster.

Flyers are the overall disaster but each team has had their share of situational disasters.

This post should come with a warning for anyone who suffers with depression.

I remember when the Eagles signed Morrow last March my first thought was "who?”  Really underwhelming signing that was the definition of digging through the clearance bin at the position.  Cannot have that again next season.  Have to bring in a FA with a proven track record, who isn’t over 35 years old.

Dean should be guaranteed nothing.  He’s shown very little as of yet.  Start over at the position.

This is a very negative glass half empty view.

The Phillies didn't lose the World Series, the Astros cheated until they can prove they didn't cheat. That's all they do is cheat. The Phillies are ostensibly 2022 world champions. They made it back and have a great year. Going back again after winning a World Series is really tough, they just ran out of gas.

The Eagles didn't lose the Super Bowl, it was stolen by bad field and officiating. They were the better team on the field that day, they are the true champions, I don't care what the NFL says. The Eagles followed up a Super Bowl championship with an 11 win season. Yeah they fell apart, but they still made the playoffs. Still a lot of overall success.

The Sixers had a great season, just fell a little short. Embiid played injured, so you can even argue given the injury they were technically the better team in that series and with a healthy Embiid they win, and probably go on to win the Finals. Embiid got hurt, but given the circumstances they were having a really good season and still have a lot of amazing individual moments from this season.

The Union ostensibly won a championship as well, since extra time is the biggest scam in all of sports, it's a totally made up concept. They led for the majority of the game, they are the true champions, I don't care what MLS says.

This might be the single greatest calendar year of sports any city has ever had in American history.

Huff went after ESP.

One of ESP's many contrarian shtick's is to talk about how great the offense was in 2023.

Oh I am with you. The problem last year was they just handed Dean and Morrow jobs and the only other LB of note in TC was STer Christian F'n Ellis. Morrow would have been as the 3rd option to push Dean over the summer / add depth if they had also signed a better FA LB to along with him who was a sure starter.

That's what needs to happen here. What I was saying was I am only OK with Cunningham coming back if its in that role of pushing Dean (along with a guy they pick up in the draft, hopefully a Day 2 pick). But it needs to come along with a more dependable vet type signing (i.e. not a Morrow). They won't break the bank for Queen but someone like a Jewell, Murray, Tranquill. You then let the four guys fight it out in TC and probably end up with your vet FA signing and hopefully one of the two young guys (Dean or Cooper/Trotter/Gray/Colson). But if both the young guys struggle in the summer, you can roll with Cunningham as the 2nd best starter at LB while coaching the young guys up over the year to keep pushing the starters.

Thought the procedure was the "get him back this year” route vs another surgery which would have been more effective long term?

Also do you really have faith in Morey to fix this? I don’t. Morey is an absolute joke.

Correct.

And correct.  I don't either.  Morey is one of the biggest frauds in sports.

Also, losing Carter Hart when you have Sam Errson playing great hockey isn't nearly as painful as it could have been. That, plus the added cap space might help them at the trade deadline.

Gentleman, I give you physical imposing Brock Bowers. Maybe teams get so turned off by how unathletic he looks and he drops within striking range.

Just keep your fingers crossed Flyers fans. We deserve and elite goal scorer.

Michkov is the best player in the world not currently in the NHL. He'd be having a Bedard-level impact right now. He went #7 instead of #2 because he still has 2 more years in Russia. He's a stud.

How is Drysdale looking?

This is my line of thinking too. The LB position is so barren that the best player is Dean, and he can’t even stay on the field.

I like the idea of bringing back Cunningham on paper. If they do, the FO can’t be bargain shopping for LBs in FA again, and if they skip FA they need to use a day 2 pick on one.

Cunningham has some familiarity with the defense, locker room, and LBs coach. I feel the Eagles need to have some consistency there, which it seems hasn’t existed the past 3+ years.

Future Raven?

Talent pops, but still is a bit more tentative than you would like. I think he can be the 2nd best D on a cup contender. Skeptical of a #1.
