As the senior torch has been passed from Jason Peters to Jason Kelce to now Lane Johnson, the next in line to take that torch when Lane retires is 26 year old Jordan Malaita with 25 year old Lane Dickerson as his heir.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

He says this but you know he ultimately wants to come back and play for the Eagles one day with how much he compliments them and players like Lane.

Don't think he gives a crap about earning potential. Watch the documentary about him, the house he lives in is nothing special, he's got land, but that's not a lot of money where he lives. They have nice cars but nothing outrageous. He's probably banked $20+M, and is making a lot of money on endorsements. Given his personality (and his brother) he'll be marketable for the rest of his life without playing football.

So he is going college HC at a big programme to college OC at an even bigger programme? Is that really a better a job?

He wants out of UCLA, and who can blame him.  So, yes... it is a better job.

just letting you know, this ourlads video happens to rank my boy Marist Liufau in the top 5 LB prospects. Yep.

Why are you looking at LBs?   Thinking the Eagles might draft a LB is like thinking a vegan will order the surf and turf.   Sure, it would be fun to see, but you know it won't end well.

It was obvious to anyone that watched he wasn't going to win.

Still a hell of a talent, obviously, but people love to wear those Eagles tinted glasses.

And, they made the proclamation after about Week 4.   He disappeared for much of the second half of the year... along with the rest of the team.    And folks shouldn't be fooled, team success plays a role in these awards too.  The entire defense collapsing over the second half certainly didn't help him either.

I remember when he was drafted and didn't look happy.  Some were saying he didn't want to be here.

If he wanted to get away from UCLA and I believe he's still friends with Ryan Day, who was the QB coach when Chip was HC here.  Maybe Chip is doing it as a favor to Day.

They were also together at UNH.  Day at QB, Kelly as a coach.

First of all, Hamlin didn’t die on the field.

Secondly, they need to decide the nature of the award.  Is it for coming back and playing irrelevant football again?  Or for going from irrelevant to relevant and solid football again?

Hamlin was the former, Flacco the later.

Hot take: neither deserved it.   Find someone who played well for a full season.

Look, it's OK to admit that Kelce likes the spotlight.  And that spotlight is burning BRIGHT right now.  I know he has a big personality, a tremendously successful podcast, and should be marketable after football and all that...but the reality is that his spotlight and earning potential dim drastically the second a football season starts and he's not part of it.  He and his agent know that.  He may have had a 13 year NFL career, but he's been a celebrity for about 2 of those years.  And retirement means passing up a 3rd.

He could also get some sort of media gig.  That seems likely to me.

No shock there.

Ran the same offense as the Eagles this past year but his play calling was far superior.

Also ran an NCAA offense, in the NCAA.  Just sayin'

LB Azeez Al-Shaair may be an option. He played well under our new LB coach Bobby King and is a FA. If we can nab him plus a Justin Simmons, I think that would be solid start to helping Fangio's defense. Neither should be outrageously priced. I always thought Queen was a little overrated but I changed my tune there, he played well this year and would be a quality signing, especially under Fangio, but he probably will break the bank. Jordyn Brooks is interesting, Clint Hurtt should have a good perception if he would be a fit.

I would like Kelce to retire because he's at the edge of a steep decline and selfishly I would prefer to not be upset at him in his last year. Retire as an all-time great!

This pic alone now makes me dislike Purdy.

There’s the potential for a solid FA class here along with the draft class. I like the ones you mentioned and they would do very well here. Queen is also only 25! Some other possible FAs I’d take a look at are:

Kenneth Murray (also 25)

Frankie Luvu

Cody Barton

Nate Landman

Yes, of coruse 🙄.  If he had ran successfully it in the NFL before, he made have been an easy upgrade to Johnson without having to change the offense.  With his playcalling, their offense looked much more creative and less predictable.

Like the front office, I preferred an NFL offense run by somebody who has run it successfully in the NFL,  which is what we got in Moore.

Since Trotter played his last snap as an Eagle, the best LBs have been

DeMeco Ryans

Mychael Kendricks (SB team)

Jordan Hicks (SB team)

Nigel Bradham (SB team)

TJ Edwards

They won the SB when they had 3 quality LBs, sure they were at different points in their career. The FO has almost completely changed how they approach LBs since.

Hoping this offseason they can get this corrected and hit both FA and a draft pick. It doesn’t need to be a big splash, but I’ve got almost no confidence in Dean at this point.

Queen benefitted a ton from Smith showing up

Luvu is nice too but he is a pass rushing OLB in this system which is different than what a Brooks, Shaair would bring to the table. Technically you could sign both a Luvu & Shaair. Murray has been a disappointment, I have to look into your two other guys. My dream combo would be Queen & Cooper out of the draft, but that's a pipe dream, we won't get either. A more reasonable, I would be fine there idea would be, Shaair & Cedric Gray in round 2. The linebacker situation is so bad I don't think it would be outlandish to sign two ILB, like Shaair and a Willie Gay, then a draft pick. We have basically nothing there besides a undrafted guy who played FB and a small constantly hurt Dean.

I think they'll sign a target like Shaair or Jewell and also sign a guy left in the 2nd wave for a lower price.  I think they might spend more for a safety which has been their MO

Pass rush OLBs command a premium price, so seems unlikely

Shaair makes sense. A good option.

gray or cooper would be nice. Trotter jr i like as a ilb

That is fair and can be taken into consideration. It's why I would prefer to pair him up with a Cooper. But I still like him though, definitely more than prior to the season starting. I don't think he's one of the best in the league or anything just in this free agency class. But he will cost, I think someone overpays.

I really really want to like Troter more than what I do. I just am a bit nervous about the size and stature. We have enough smaller stature guys here between Brown and Dean and I really am not crazy about either. I think I'd prefer a Gray, Ford or even Colson.
