Listening to the Adam schefter interview on 975 the fanatic he made it sound like Nick Sirianni is going to be back. That there’s some thought within the organization that there’s chance Brian Johnson is also back and they chalked up the issues on offense to him learning on the job in his first year as an offensive coordinator. But there’s going to be changes defensively.

I don't think I could watch another game if that's the case. Totally unacceptable. If they have to learn on the job maybe don't skip OTA's, minicamps and such. Be on the field as much as you're allowed to. What a clown show.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

I'd honestly love to hear what Nick and Brian's explanation for the offensive design could even be. How can every NFL analyst see they are letting defenses dictate to them and make no changes? What in the hell is the rationale for continuing with this?

It just feels like stubbornness. And that should get them both fired.

I'm a fan of the teams that I pay attention to and root for.   And that's the Eagles and the Ravens, now.    True fans tend to stay with teams for a very long time,  even when they hate the team, primarily because of geography.  I'm not a true long term fan.  I pay attention to the teams that have what I want.   And the Eagles have running QB,  which is key,  and on top of that,  Howie has brought in a lot of those versatile freakbeasts that I talk about a lot.  The coaches don't seem to want to pay attention to the versatility,  but at least Howie is bringing those players in.  It's enough.

Might be the first time I've heard of that. So you're basically what people call a casual fan that is just a fan of certain aspects of team until they lose that aspect

Lol yea that's not going to go over well with this board

Of this year's playoff team Head Coaches, previously not a Head Coach. 4 defensive background, 6 offensive background

  1. Ravens Harbaugh: DBs Position coach
  2. Bills McDermott: Defensive Coordinator
  3. Texans Ryans: Defensive Coordinator
  4. Steelers Tomlin: Defensive Coordinator
  5. 49ers Shanahan: Offensive Coordinator
  6. Dolphins McDaniel: Offensive Coordinator
  7. Browns Stefanski: Offensive Coordinator
  8. Lions Campbell: Asst HC & TE Position Coach
  9. Rams McVay: Offensive Coordinator
  10. Packers LaFleur: Offensive Coordinator

Previously a Head Coach: 2 offensive background, 1 defensive background

  1. Chiefs Reid: Head Coach
  2. Cowboys McCarthy: Head Coach
  3. Bucs Bowles: Head Coach

You have a better shot hiring a coach who has never been a head coach.  While most people want a coach with offensive background, a defensive background can work as well with a good OC.  It can work to hire a former head coach, but no HC has ever won a SB with 2 teams so you'd be hoping to break NFL history.

I want an offensive HC because I'd rather the defense gets a new DC during the annual coaching change than the offense. Give Hurts some stability with a HC who can call his own plays

This week sure but he's regressed over the year

Harbaugh was a ST Coordinator.

Yes, and the DB coach as well his final year in Philly before taking the job.  His coaching history lists his prior position as DB coach but yes he was both.

Most reports state that Both Johnson and Hurts (probably AJ too) have been disagreeing with Sirianni, his offensive game planning, etc.   This is most likely Sirianni not willing to adjust his offense.  He basically has stated it at various points throughout the season.

So take a step back in 2024, clear cap, audition a lot of draft picks, SFAs, cheap FAs, UDFAs, build cheap young depth.

This would be contrary to normal organizational strategy, though.  Rookies tend to not play a lot.  Carter has been the exception.

Can Hurts pull a Wentz and out of the blue request a trade?

I even call my own plays…

Not unless the head coach benches him without telling him.

Good point by Berman: How prepared are the Eagles for a coaching search right now? When would preparations have started? They were pretty caught off guard with Doug it seems.

Nah. Completely different mind set.  Hurts is dedicated to his teammates & the city.   Pretty sure this will end up being a Siri vs Hurts thing and the $250 million dollar investment will come out on top.

There’s too much evidence that clearly shows the vast majority of the blame is on the coaching staff.   We should know more this week,  imo.

He can request one whenever he wants. Getting it is a different story lol

Nah,  the Eagles could get new fans. Philly is a big city.

Of course,  you can't just get rid of fans.

Maybe the Eagles could put a quiz on applications for season tickets?

Yeah...again, you have no idea of what you speak. Most people in Philly are already Eagles fans and those fans take the personality of the city, which is blue collar, hard-nosed, honest and blunt. They will tell you how it is. In football, that's booing when they do something you don't like. I do think you are being glib just to get a rise out of people at this point, which has gotten people removed from the boards, it's called trolling. So, you already have some of the worst ideas on the boards because you don't understand the difference between physical explosiveness and mental aptitude. Then you're insulting to the fanbase you are claiming to be part of because you don't understand their culture, and quite possibly trolling.

It's trendy to crap on Eagles. If people were feeling this way then why didn't they speak up during the 10-1 record?

The narrative that Nick Sirianni needs to convince Lurie that he can fix the Eagles issues is a true one. But there's more than that. He also needs to convince Lurie that not only can he fix the issues, but when NFL teams throw their counter punch to those fixes, if he has another counter punch.

So far an entire calendar year has gone by and he's had no counter punch. So, say Sirianni stays and they play better with some tweaks next season(which I have my doubts, but for argument's sake say he does add some fixes), but midway through the season NFL teams adjust and start attacking the Eagles differently. How could anyone have confidence that in-season Sirianni could scheme up fixes when he was unable to this season?

He would basically need to convince Lurie he's going to get demonstrably better at a skill set he's currently proven to be poor at.

If outsiders are seeing this... how do you think the players feel who are living it smh.

You don’t think Hurts likes the city?

He said, "I would do anything for this city and these fans”. Literally after a game this year.

After the Arizona game, I'm sure they started asking questions.

A player referring to "higher-ups" could mean coaches or front office.

I know everyone liked to blame Howie and Lurie for everything, and maybe they made this call. But, like everything else with this organization, we'll never know for sure.

McManus said that Howie had the relationship with Patricia and hired him and put his office down the hall from him... That's enough evidence for me personally

Uhm, many of us were.  A good potion of those 10 wins this season were won on talent alone.  Almost all of us were saying they were "sloppy” wins for the most part.

Can you find how many times we ran under center and the stats on those few plays?

I’m sure someone will eventually.  It wasn’t often, that’s for sure.

Right, watching our team play like they did for the 2nd half of the season for 2-3 quarters a game to start the season. We out talented some teams and got lucky vs a few others. Siriani had no answers for the 2nd part of the season.
