I'm a fan of the teams that I pay attention to and root for.   And that's the Eagles and the Ravens, now.    True fans tend to stay with teams for a very long time,  even when they hate the team, primarily because of geography.  I'm not a true long term fan.  I pay attention to the teams that have what I want.   And the Eagles have running QB,  which is key,  and on top of that,  Howie has brought in a lot of those versatile freakbeasts that I talk about a lot.  The coaches don't seem to want to pay attention to the versatility,  but at least Howie is bringing those players in.  It's enough.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

I'm sure a few weeks ago they lined up coaching candidates just in case. If not, shame on them.

Could you go be a fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders or the Memphis Showboats instead? We don't want you.

London Silly Nannies is a better fit

What do you guys think of Eric Bienemy?  Andy Reid tree.  Could work with this much talent on offense, imo.

Brady left the patriots?

This would be contrary to normal organizational strategy, though.  Rookies tend to not play a lot.  Carter has been the exception.

Maybe they should change their view on rookies though.  DeVonta Smith was a rookie starter. Dickerson became one due to injury and has been great.  Say what you want about Ringo but he was a 4th round rookie thrown into a historic collapse situation with bad coaching and played better than Bradberry.  We'd rather see Ricks or Ringo out there over Bradberry.

With the state of this defensive roster, they have opportunity at DE, Safety, Corner or LB where a top prospect could start as a rookie.  They could potentially have 2 of those positions as rookies if they drafted well enough.  Howie always signs a cheap free agent in the back 7 as a placeholder then drafts some scrub in the 4th or 5th who never develops, rinse and repeat.

I'd love to see a top prospect at any back 7 position taken in the 1st or 2nd and start right away.  Let them get through the rookie mistakes.  It's better than has beens they make trades for at the deadline or scrubs they sign in August.

You don’t think Hurts likes the city?

He said, "I would do anything for this city and these fans”. Literally after a game this year.

It's his workplace.  Players can identify with the city, they all do charity work there, and a player's emotional well being dictates they should enjoy playing in whatever city drafts them.

He's not dedicated to the city, though.  If he were traded to Miami he would also say the same thing there.  I'm not knocking him for it, but I also don't think he spends 12 months a year in Philly.

The narrative that Nick Sirianni needs to convince Lurie that he can fix the Eagles issues is a true one. But there's more than that. He also needs to convince Lurie that not only can he fix the issues, but when NFL teams throw their counter punch to those fixes, if he has another counter punch.

So far an entire calendar year has gone by and he's had no counter punch. So, say Sirianni stays and they play better with some tweaks next season(which I have my doubts, but for argument's sake say he does add some fixes), but midway through the season NFL teams adjust and start attacking the Eagles differently. How could anyone have confidence that in-season Sirianni could scheme up fixes when he was unable to this season?

He would basically need to convince Lurie he's going to get demonstrably better at a skill set he's currently proven to be poor at.

💯 and this will be the end of Nick

They really need to go DB early if a solid one drops to us.

Edelman thinks Belichick would be a great fit here.  He's dropping some truth bombs. Says Bill has a lot of respect for Howie and it's BS that he wouldnt work with him.

Belichick remains my home run scenario, if Lurie can get over himself and deal with a strong person, its exactly what the team needs unless they want a 2 year rebuild.

Think of the youngsters on our defense under the tutelage of one of the greatest defensive coaches of all time.

I’m not saying he does but I think he has a certain amount of loyalty to the team that drafted him, supported him when many doubted him and helped propel him to NFL stardom.  Just a guess based on his character.

He wouldn't have been a Brady fan. He doesn't run. I'm betting he was more of a Niners fan until Kaepernick got canned. We know he loved Terrelle Pryor. The Ravens winning the Super Bowl might be a huge win for the EMB if he just leaves her entirely and jumps on their bandwagon with both feet.

Taking a look at a few safety prospects today.  Eagles need a free safety in the worst way; someone who can cover ground, tackle, and has good ball skills -- in that order:

Kamren Kinchens (Miami) -- very impressive.  Fits all three criteria, definitely a willing and solid tackler.  Strong instincts.

Tyler Nubin (Minnesota) -- probably more suited to be a box safety in the NFL; reminds me of Blankenship, actually.  Has a good nose for the football but looks better playing downhill than in space

Calen Bullock (USC) -- really good closing speed and range.  Decent tackler, although a bit unorthodox in technique.  Good playing strength but he has a slight build.  I would wonder about durability in the NFL.  He definitely projects more as a free safety than box safety IMO.

Javon Bullard (Georgia) -- decent tape, but not really inspiring.  Maybe I'm cautious now about Georgia defenders, but he seemed to be chasing more than making plays.  He's a free safety but I wouldn't say range is his strong suit.

Andrew Mukuba (Clemson) -- maybe it's his size, but he looks like a nickel CB more than a safety at the NFL level.  Pretty good player, but doesn't stand out in any particular area.  His coverage skills look to be his strongest asset; if he's fast enough he could be a good nickel.

Of this group I would definitely rank Kinchens and Bullock over the rest.

I love Kinchens and Miami safeties in general play well at the next level.

I like Bullard a lot but I think he's more of a nickel CB rather than a safety.

All that for a guy who likely leaves at the end of the year

There’s no possible way this offense is watchable next year if Sirianni + BJ are back. We need to clean house.

Surprised Morey is sitting on the sidelines this long. Nurse has his team playing great and Harris is almost convincing of being a true #3 but I have my doubts come playoffs. Would love to add a 3 & D guy or another bigger name to compete with Milwaukee + Boston

So looking at our upcoming free agents...who would you even want to keep?:

LB Shaun Bradley - nah

DT Fletcher Cox - if cheap

LB Zach Cunningham - nah

G Jack Driscoll - nah

S Justin Evans - hell nah

DE Brandon Graham - vet minimum for the farewell maybe

WR Julio Jones - nah

C Jason Kelce - please, please, please come back

LB Shaquille Leonard - hell nah

P Braden Mann - yes

QB Marcus Mariota - nah

LB Nicholas Morrow - GTFO

TE Albert Okwuegbunam - who?

G Iosua Opeta - yes

RB Rashaad Penny - who?

RB Boston Scott - nah

RB D'Andre Swift - nah, he'll want too much and we can get younger and cheaper in the draft

WR Quez Watkins - F nah

WR Olamide Zaccheaus - as a 4th guy for cheap, ok

There's gonna be a lot of roster turnover this year.

He still has a Tim Tebow fathead I'd bet

And who knows what the defense will be. We will have a major slide and the window would be firmly slammed shut.

These would be good points if that was actually what was going on with the team.  The real breakdown wasn't against zone coverages but against pressure.  He makes a good point about the simplicity of the routes but misses what the issue has been.  Hurts was facing pressure at just over 2 seconds because of free rushers.  That is a scheme failure by the coaches. It doesn't matter what the route combos are if you cannot adjust the play for the blitz.

I think he didn’t want to give away that type of assets for siakam who said he wants to be a FA and see what’s out there at the end of the season. So Indy basically got a rental as he’s likely going to leave. Sixers can’t afford to give up 3 firsts for him to just bounce

Opeta, Mann, Driscoll, Graham and Swift only if he doesn't get a lot of money.

If Mariota wants to be the backup I'd bring him back. I'm not sure who's available that could an upgrade over him. The Eagles seem to like someone with experience behind Hurts and he should come pretty cheap too.

Also I'd maybe consider bringing Shaun Bradley back but only for special teams if Michael Clay feels he can use him in that role. Otherwise they can probably let him go too.
