The Eagles should have kept Andy Reid. And drafted Pat Mahomes & Travis Kelce.  And hired Spags.  But also they should have still won the SB in 2018. And maybe they should have still drafted Jalen Carter if he turns out to be really good.

I was one of the few people on the message board that said to keep Andy Reid. my rationale was you were really unlikely to get a better coach than him, and if you thought a second year Nick Foles could be a franchise quarterback than Andy Reid is the guy to maximize his potential.

That said, I also understood why reid, Lurie and the eagles made the decision they did. I didn’t like it, but at least understood the rationale and the reasons behind it ( Reid’s family issues, team decline and other factors). So I couldn’t really blame them for making that decision they did.

NFL Rumors: Javon Hargrave has requested permission to seek a trade to Kansas City Chiefs

Google Neil Smith

[Smith, who will receive a $3.2 million signing bonus, joined the Broncos as a free agent before last season after nine seasons with Kansas City.

Smith said he joined the Broncos because he thought they had a good shot at getting to the Super Bowl, not for money. "I thought maybe I was good enough to get them over the hump," he said.]

I also remember Smith, who went to a bunch of pro bowls and all-pro teams with the Chiefs, after a playoff win against KC said. "I just got tired of losing to Elway every year”

You realize that Reddick is pushing for a trade because he wants a new deal.  It would be a mistake to invest heavily in Reddick given his age.  I don't know what his market value is but I don't think Roseman would be making a mistake to trade him if he can get at least a day 2 pick back from a team.

I don't agree, Reddick is the exact type of guy you pay. He's a premium pass rusher. If anyone they should trade Sweat. Sweat is so damn overrated. I think people forget how much of a force this guy is because of how the season ended, where everyone on the defense played poorly.

Tbh he deserves to at least be suspended if not banned. This is about the 5th time he’s pulled this crap where he gets drunk, acts belligerent and calls people names. If you can’t drink  responsibly then don’t drink and especially don’t come on here. he will eventually come on here and apologize. Even though his apology is now hallow cause it’s a bunch of bs as he’ll do the same thing all over again down the road.

It's definitely more than the 5th

Probably is more. I didn’t want to go hyperbole and say like 20. Lol

Reid was really struggling to put together a coaching staff at the end as well. He was looked at as a lame duck.

The man hired Juan Castillo as DC because he struck out on his first several choices and made him cater the defense to Jim Washburn.

Once he got the KC gig, he was able to get a better staff due to stability. It also recharged his batteries.

I think this is what a lot of people are not realizing, and this can get messy pretty easily. This isn't the Eagles actively trying to shop him, this is Reddick and his camp pushing for this because he doesn't want to play in this type of defense. Reddick stayed in his lane last offseason and had his mini-holdout, but he has more leverage this year.

Everyone needed a fresh start. Eagles, Lurie, and Foles got their superbowl win and Reid got multiple. One of the rare instances where everyone ended up winners.

I look at it this way. Chris Jones was the biggest problem the 49ers offense had in the second half. He was damn near unblockable. He’s a game changing pass rusher and causes a lot of issues for offenses and makes the guys around him immensely better. Now he is likely top three at his position. He is going to be 30 years old in July. somebody in free agency is going to pay him that money or it’s going to be the Chiefs. So yes he’s nearing the same spot Reddick is at his age

i’m not saying Hassan Reddick is in that same class as Chris Jones. I don’t think he is. but Hassan Reddick is a top 10 pass rusher in this  NFL. They’re not many guys out there that can say that or become available. The fact we were able to get him in FA and have him play the way he has is not the norm. The fact that Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox have played as well as they have into their mid 30s, I am less concerned that Hassan Reddick is going to fall off a cliff. My bigger concern is if you trade him how are you going to replace him. And if the answer is Nolan Smith, he didn’t stay healthy at Georgia and he played good like one out of 18 games this past year. So that leap is far too big to Make right now. And i much rather have a plethora of good pass rushers. I can always trade one and get value. I like Nolan smith but there’s a better chance that Nolan Smith winds up being average or bust then being as good or close to as good as a Reddick in ages 29-33.

I call it the Derrick Burgess rule. After Derrick Burgess left the eagles, he ended up leading the league in sacks for the Raiders. But that doesn’t matter because he didn’t do that here. Same with Barnett, same with Rowe, same with Agholor. They all earned their exit regardless of what another team turned them into.

Andy was a tire fire his last 2 seasons in Philly, additional seasons should not be thrown away at the hope it gets turned around. Part of the reason KC was good right away was because he had a situation where he could reset himself and the team. That wasn’t the situation here.

Was this forgotten?

Whether you support trading Reddick or not, I think we all know the outcome if they do. They get a 2nd rounder for him, they spend their first rounder on a DE who likely isn't half as good as Reddick. They use that 2nd rounder on like a safety who's good, but isn't a franchise cornerstone. And we all lose.

I'm actually afraid they're going to pay Sweat in a year. I think he's a part time player and the Eagles seem to absolutely love him, probably because he passes the analytics sniff test. But he's had a significant injury in his past, never has been a guy who shows up every week. Paying him would be a major mistake. Especially if they're choosing between him and Reddick. Reddick is only 29 it's not like he's 34. The Eagles need to stop with this paranoia of paying DL 30+. Yet they're perfectly fine paying CBs 30+ when that position has a much greater history of quicker decline post 30 than DL.

It's also a negotiation tactic to lower his asking price if he's going to stay.

Even in this scenario, we should STILL make this trade. Reddick is 30. He has at most 2 years of very good play left, which will require 20+M APY. He will not age gracefully as a player given how he plays. Once he loses half a step, it's over for him.

Trade him.

Morning after... hungover/still drunk from the night before as the liver hasn't had a chance to fully cleanse the blood, likely due to overuse.

Throughout the week... acid flashback or cocaine addiction.

I can guarantee the Eagles win the Super Bowl next season so we all have to get our jerseys and walk around with those ugly ass patches on them.

Yeah I'm not inclined to lose Sweat or Reddick. Would love for them to rebound under a new scheme next year if we can agree on a deal with Haason. And frankly we we need their talent for depth at DE. Of course, none of this will stop me dreaming about snagging Brian Burns. A man can dream right?
