  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

The most high-profile case of this was Calvin Johnson. He retired before the end of his contract, so the Lions went after his signing bonuses on a pro-rated basis. Then Johnson then told every player not to sign or extend in Detroit because they were cheap.

We could do the same with Kelce (we won't).

Right, that's the team taking it back. I never heard of a player willingly giving it back to facilitate something.

Now that guy would crush at RG and could sit there and wait until 2027 to move over when Lanes contract expires and he hangs em' up. And if Fuaga looks so good at RG and you don't want to move him, like what has happened in the past, then you either draft someone the year prior or sign a FA. But I think he will be gone before 22.

Reddick may not have asked the organization, but did his agent?

Wouldnt the Eagles, or Reddick himself, come out fairly quickly and squash the rumors yesterday? Just like they did with the stupid WIP trade AJ Brown poll…

The agent asked for an extension and Howie said they can't extend him now.  Howie then asked if he would be happy playing for the team on the last year of the deal and the agent probably said that Reddick wants an extension to be happy.  So Howie gave his agent permission to seek a trade. It's not some ambiguous thing.  The agent can't otherwise talk to other teams without permission.

If it came down to trading Sweat or Reddick, I would trade Sweat in a heart beat.

Sweat doesn’t really fit as a 3-4 DE, and I don’t want him as the stand up rusher when you have Reddick/Smith.

Plus the report coming out SB morning was clearly his agents doing. Reddick coming out today saying he wants to stay is he/his agent putting pressure on Howie to get an extension done using the fanbase.

I dont think Sweat gets an elite deal. He might be well paid, but Im not sure we cant retain him.

On the same note, he is the one who is replaceable with another mid-priced free agent, or even a high pick. Replacing Reddick with that is likely a fools errand. Replacing Sweat with that is far more likely to be successful.

His production is above average. Not elite. He can be replaced on the free agent market fairly easily in almost any year. He can even be replaced by the giant DE out of Missouri pretty immediately. I am not really on board with boosting that guys value to round 2, but if you want to ensure you have a direct replacement for Sweat, Id be ok with reaching a bit.

I don’t think they can afford Reddick and sweat with all the guys they have to pay unless someone takes a significant drop off in money. Think eagles view it as has to be a one or the other situation

I agree with you. I hate losing sweat. But I also think he is more replaceable. I also don’t think 2022 is the Josh sweat you’re gonna get year in and year out for the rest of his career. I think there might be a season like that coming up but I think his statistical production is likely closer  to what he’s shown you in 2020, 2021 and 2023 in producing sacks and pressure wise. I think 2022 had a bunch of guys see huge upticks because that DL was nasty and depth which opponents struggled with having that much quality and waves coming at them. By losing Reddick and just keeping sweat, your pass rush takes a big hit. I think sweat had a great 2022 but some of that was also a product of just how great Reddick and the rest of that DL was.

Tyler Guyton is the wildcard. No matter who is available that makes the most sense right now, Howie will always be intrigued by the proactive approach on OL.

Thats not really fun to predict though.

Ill say we go CB. The immediate need is there, and the value will be exceptional at our pick.

Im not sure exactly which ones will be there but you will likely have the choice of more than one of- Quinyon Mitchell, Terrion Arnold, Nate Wiggins, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Cooper DeJean.

Even if there isnt a choice and just 1 of them is left, any one of them presents great value at our pick and should be the guy.

Argument could be made if Verse, or Latu are still available but those seem like long shots. Not sure you take Chop Robinson, or Braswell at our pick. Chop as a PSU guy might dominate the combine. Braswell might work his way in to the conversation. But... as of right now our pick is a little early for them.

Based on reports he’s not getting past the jets at 10

I get it but think it’s disingenuous. Whether it’s the reporting or what Reddick is actually saying, it comes off as Reddick didn’t want any of this when it’s obvious his camp is the one rocking the boat. The Eagles are perfectly fine letting him play out his current contract, it’s Reddick who is not comfortable with it.

Any chance with Cox probably not coming back we go DT again in round 1 ?

Pass rusher free agent , I think isn’t getting the hype he should , Bryce Huff , only 25 and brings the pressure

I would think he would be high up on a lot of teams' lists of best available FA pass rusher.

Fine. But we have to trade one of them. Can't sign both.

The Eagles need to do as much homework as they can on Josh Sweats knee and how much life is left in it. It's a miracle he's played this long IMO. If they say, his knee is a normal knee and there shouldn't be an issue there. The bigger issue I see is how does Josh Sweat fit in a 3-4?

I think a very fair Reddick stance is if a team is willing to give him 5 years and/or 30+ million per, trade him. However, if the Eagles trade him and we find out he gets like a 3 year deal for 70 million, I think the Eagles made a major mistake here.

Comes down to eagles can’t really afford to keep both sweet and reddick. Eagles probably love to have Reddick on the last year of his deal then let him walk away in FA in 2025. It keeps their best pass rusher and helps them as they still believe they are a Sb contender.

Daryl Morey would tell him to play out his final year of his deal and he promises to reward him handsomely next year, and then when next year comes and Reddick is a free agent, Morey doesn't answer his calls.

Think have to also look at the last 5 years of his career to determine what you think he’s going to be going forward (excludes rookie season). Do you believe he’s going to be 2022 Josh sweat consistently or is he closer to the other years around that? I tend to think 2022 was an outlier similarly to Brandon Graham finally getting double digit sacks and a career high 11. you are likely getting a guy who is similar to what his 2020 and 2021 production was. But I’m guessing his agent is going to use that 2022 season to say this is what he is going to be going forward at 26. I just have a feeling he’s going to get more money than we expect and he’s gonna be held up to the standard of 2022 and I don’t think that  realistically that is the player that he is going to be on a year to year basis.

Is Josh sweat gonna wear a fat suit?

Offer Reddick and Sweat hometown discounts. First one to sign gets it. Other guy leaves.

I was thinking this a couple months back but I doubt it. Not seeing that player who makes sense in Fangio defense in the 20's either unless I'm missing someone.
