Congrats.  Enjoy it.  Talked my wife into joining me in retirement last year and haven’t looked back. Is yours retired yet?

Wonder when the Eagles will announce and/or finalize their staff. Still need DBs coach(unless Parker doubles as that), offensive assistant to replace Brady(possibly). Also possibly another LB coach if Fangio has two like he did in Miami. They might be waiting on Renaldo Hill.

I will be working part time for the same company in a "behind the scenes" capacity from home. For fun yes, I will be going on another moose hunt along with caribou this time and playing with my gand kids, biking, hiking, maybe check out the country some.

I have all 50 states and that requires traveling through the state to count. Wife is at 45 but we hope to cure that this summer.  (MI, ND, MT, WY and ID). Get off the freeways and enjoy.

Caribou? Canada or AK?   Can’t imagine dressing either of those two and carrying out of the woods.

Another young blue chip player we need to pay over a turning 30 Reddick.

Yeah. I see Dickerson and Smitty getting extensions. Maybe even Milton Williams if they can get him locked in to a 2-3 year extension for cheap.

Rumor is he's demanding a trade.

I read he hinted that he would love to play with Chris Boswell

Apparently He has reported everything that happened and subsequent threats to the NFL back in December

I'm sure this is one big misunderstanding and that Carter just offered to take him and his family on a joyride.

Eagles definitely need to retool, dump veterans, clear out cap room, extend core young players.

This doesn't mean you don't compete, look at KC, the goal is to be patient with early season struggles, and hope the kids learn on the job and you can make a second half surge that carries you into the playoffs. Avoid spending a lot of money on 30 year old FAs, focus on SFAs, UDFAs (PT is available if you're good enough!) and draft picks to fill out the roster and the PS (too many veterans on the PS last couple years w/o upside). If your coaches can't coach some up, you have the wrong coaches (big problem last year, how many players who weren't top picks emerged?)

Worst thing Howie can do is assume last year was a fluke and they're still a SB contender.

They have a good young core, but have filled too many depth spots with veterans, time to rebuild depth.

We'll probably sign someone who has promise but their current team struggled so Howie expects they'll play better behind our Oline and then get a comp when they leave in the next offseason

As the league goes to two high safety looks, the power back who can grind out 5 yard runs consistently (and pass block) has more value relative to the game breaker who can break off long runs (but harder with the safeties back, clear the LOS and there are still tacklers). Being able to move the chains has more value when the big play is taken away from an offense.

Spotrac thinks DeAndre Swift's market value is $6.7M per -- 4 years and $27M total.  OTC has a 2023 valuation on him at $5.7M.

I'm inclined to think Howie isn't going to want to offer him a contract in that salary range; if he's not brought back, who do folks think would be a good investment at RB?  I mentioned Antonio Gibson the other day -- his estimated market value is $3.6M per.

Very uninspiring. He would be fine to pair up with a Swift. But Gibson and Gainwell is weak. But I could totally see Howie doing that.

I think the worst thing they can do is put too much stock into any one thing. Have to look at everything with nuance. They have flaws, but they're probably not as dire as it looked at the end of 2023. Not as promising as the 10-1 start either. Also can't just assume that they can get back to 2022 level without a lot of help either.

The Eagles have made issues in the past when over correcting. They struggle to find nuance. Can't panic with 2023, can't write it off either. Also can't never sign 30+ veterans again, but they also need to get younger in areas generally.

FA

Xavier McKinney - S
Denico Autry  - Edge
Kenneth Murray Jr. - LB
Swift - RB

Draft -

1. Byron Murphy II - DT
2. Ennis Rakestraw Jr. - CB
2. Edgerrin Cooper - LB
3. Zak Zinter - OG
4. Malik Washington - WR (slot)

Thoughts so far?

In other news, Fanatics remains absolute crap, I hate how anyone does business with that awful company. And they still haven't restocked lots of kelly green stuff that has been sold out since November. I hope Michael Rubin goes broke and that company goes belly up.

Autry will be 34 by the start of the season; I wouldn't want to put any money into a player that age.  I like the rest of the FA group, though.

As far as the draft, I was thinking about this yesterday; a lot of these mock draft sites have Cooper sitting there on the board at 50 or 53.  I realize off-ball LB has been devalued, but there are still more than a few teams who value the position.  I can't see the top LB prospect getting out of the 1st round, personally.  If Edgerrin Cooper is the consensus best LB in the draft then he won't be on the board by our 2nd round pick.
