No interest in overpaying yet another corner

Again, I'll disagree.   There are too many pitchers, because they overthrow rather than know HOW to throw.   So, they just throw as hard as they can, and then they have to come out.   If you had fewer pitchers, you'd have more position players and that would make it more interesting.

216 IP was the most thrown this past season.  Go back 30 years...  30 pitchers exceeded that mark.

If we just look at 200 IP as a 'round' figure, there were 52 that threw 200 or more innings in 1993.
In 2023, there were just 5.

180 IP:
1993 - 68
2023 - only 25.

Complete games:
2023, only 25 pitchers threw a CG, and only 35 total games.
1993, 129 pitchers threw a CG, and I'm not going to do the math for how many total there were, but the top 3 pitchers in CG, threw 35 combined (Chuck Finley - 13, Kevin Brown - 12, and Randy Johnson/Jack McDowell - 10.)

The game has gotten more about the long ball and hitting triple digits on the radar gun than it has 'strategy'.  The 'strategy' is nearly gone.   Set your line up and forget it.   Change the pitcher whenever he gets tired.  And he will quickly, because he's just throwing gas constantly.

Good post.

DH or no DH (and having DHs in the NL is good), I’m just happy both leagues play by the same rules. It never made any sense to do that.

Agreed.  It never made sense to bring the DH into the game.   9 players field, 9 players hit.  They should be the SAME 9.

In football you run 100 yards its a TD on any field. NBA 23'9'' is 3 points on any court.

In baseball you can hit a 400' bomb and its not a home run in some stadiums. Stupid.

hey wait! I just came up with a new football field design with fancy shaped end zones!

That's not true.

The 3 point line in the corner is significantly closer to the basket than at the top of the key.  It is only 22 feet along the baseline.

I was referring more to the dimensions of the fields. They can do whatever they want with the actual field itself but the measurements should all be the same, like every other sport.

I loved it when the NHL had different sized rinks.  When you played in BOS or BUF there wasn’t enough room to hide and most games were very physical with lots of hitting.  It takes something away from the game IMO with the homogeneous ice surface dimensions.  Every team now plays the same boring style.

Of course the NHL lacked the foresight to make all of the new arenas Olympic-sized dimensions when they built many new ones.  Hockey now is way too much clashing sticks together in the neutral zone due to bigger and faster athletes.

Grass vs turf is way different than baseball.

Inelegantly phrased but I heartily agree.

Can the Eagles just draft a really good CB in the 1st round already?

Evidence says, "NO".

Impossible, it's only been 22 years.

Lord help if you want to get a custom home and away. Gonna need almost $1k.

There is a bubble the size has to fit within…I’m ok with the way they do it because it allows for some awesome designs.

I'd be happy signing Snead, he's really good and young. I know everyone prefers a LB and safety, but if Winfield gets tagged, there's really no safety worth throwing big money at. At the end of the day you want the best talent, not necessarily locking yourself into positions. And LB frankly I don't think there's anyone worth throwing big money at. Certainly not overrated Queen. Snead probably gets tagged though.

Thankfully i bought my harper jerseys when majestic was in charge. It’s been a decline since Nike took over and more expensive. When they switched from majestic to Nike, fanatics had a huge sale. The authentic majestics were like 60-75% off.

Evidence as in they don't even try lol. Who's the last 1st round CB Lito?

Howie would never throw big money at an off ball LB or safety. OL, DL, CB, WR seems to be the only FA/trade positions he's willing to spend on when necessary.

He did for Marcus Williams, they just got slightly outbid by the Ravens.

He ultimately didn't.. he got outbid which proves my point.

Sneed was a safety at Louisiana Tech. He was drafted as a safety and played safety as a rookie. At what point did he transition to CB?

COULD he possibly have any interest in transitioning back to safety?

Are they doing away with pitchers hitting in the NL?  I haven't heard anything about it.

Putting out there "we were really close” is also easy to do after the fact.

They introduced DH into the NL like 3 years ago I think, it's been awesome

Really?  So pitchers don't bat anymore?

Shows you how much I follow baseball.
