He’s had a lot more than that.  Those highlights we some of the longer, more spectacular throws but he’s had dozens of throws on the run that went for shorter yards, etc

Sure, he can throw on the run. What he can also do is not have any situational IQ at all like sliding in bounds at the 4, throwing that stupid ass pass against the Jets, or that stupid ass pass to Brown instead of getting inside FG range. He isn't dumb but he is a damn moron at the worst times playing hero ball or idiot ball. Taking that sack against the 49ers was a great one as well.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I change my opinion

Go get those RB busts in SF, Howie.

Who should be the backup QB this year and why should it be Jameis Winston?

And before I get flooded with McKee responses, I don't see Howie relying on him just yet to be the #2 if they are contending for a SB.

I want Winston on this team just for his attitude. He's just an incredibly likeable teammate.

Hurts is not fine throwing on the run.  He doesn’t have the arm or mechanics…it is what it is with him.  He’s going to throw ducks or floaters most of the time.  Scramble drill issues or not.  He also needs to remember that he can keep his eyes up while bailing too.  That’s another huge issue and regression point of his.

He's fine rolling right and throwing.  Rolling to his left and throwing is a different thing entirely.

That's three former 3rd round picks he's now signed to reserve-future contracts.

Terrell Lewis, Julian Okwara and now Davis-Price.

Maybe one of them can bloom here. More than likely, none of them make the opening day roster.

I felt like his new contract was too much in his head at times. He avoided contact and gave frequently on runs to avoid hits.  He tried too hard to make plays instead of playing smart.

If a RB can't make it with Shanahan, he's unlikely to make it with anyone.

I think Tanner McKee showed more than enough to be given a chance at competing for the back up role.

Compete, sure. But that would mean bringing in a veteran for TC. If he has an excellent camp and whoever they bring in can be cut/traded, then I can see a logical path of McKee becoming the #2.

But right now, there are only two QB's under contract, Hurts and McKee. I don't see how they could just hand McKee the job or just bring in another late round or UDFA guy to compete with McKee. I don't think they break the bank for a guy like Tannehill but I think they bring in a guy like Winston, Taylor, Darnold etc

Problem is those vets will be expensive and and if you're paying them then they will take that #2 spot just based on that.  I think if they bring in a vet to compete it will be a low budget guy that has been under Moore before like Easton Stick.  Won't cost a lot so if McKee outperforms him he gets the backup spot.

They will draft Spencer Rattlesnake and you will like it.

Jacoby Brissett could be a name they look at as well.

Taylor signed a deal 2 years ago for $5.5M per. He's 35 now and it's a crowded market. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get him for $3M which is fine for a backup to compete. Darnold was $4.5M last year and didn't improve his stock at all. Really it depends on how much would be guaranteed.

On the other hand SF has scouted RB really well and always has a deep talented backfield.

There one of a few teams who I can consistently look at their 4th RB and wish he had a big role here.

I'm just wondering how many Day 2 picks they can waste on RB's

overpay

Exhibit A:  Trey Sermon.

Almost all backup QBs suck. He's objectively better than Mariota and Winston.

I wouldn’t even say that.. he had one good spell with the pats but never was able to live up the hype with San Fran and they were loaded. He was god awful with the raiders

That Marlins uniform looks great from what I can see in the pic ... except for the huge, tacky ADT logo.

Yeah he was a bust. I guess he can hit the practice squad.

He's not even a big back.

Shanahan really sucks at picking RBs in the draft. Joe Williams, Trey Sermon and Ty Davis-Price couldn’t last past year two on a rookie deal.

before they paid all the RB money to McCaffrey their RB depth charts were always enviable.
