Jalen Hurts mannerisms on the bench or lack there of was the reason we lost games at the end of the year 🤣

This is the dumbest ish and biggest waste of time. It also isn’t true and helps us going forward not 1%.

Not one single person has said that, where did you get that from?

Way to take it to the extreme. Not even I'm saying that and I'm more against him than anyone else on here. Eskin's report says players tried to talk to him about it but I'm sure you know better than them.

Not a robot would be a good start. I guess you need to ask Cox though since you think I'm wrong. I'm sure he doesn't know anything either from the HE report above.

As Eskin said, no one had a problem when they were winning. Once they started losing and started looking for answers, some players wanted Hurts to be "more emotional."

Do they want him to throw his tablet like Tom Brady did? Do they want him to stomp up and down the sideline and get in players' faces to yell at them?

He HAS always shown emotion his career. He hypes up the team in the pre-game huddles, he smiles, he dances, he celebrates. A lot of times, he is more stoic and focused. When the team is losing, players have different reactions. There were times Kelce was pissed off and just staring into space. Some players sit on the bench and hang their head.

The QB gets the spotlight because of the position, and people expect them to be cheerleaders and have perfect emotions all the time. That's not reality. Every human has faced hard times and reacted in ways that others might not like. Maybe it's a maturity and growth factor for Hurts that his teammates need to see some more from him when things are down instead of sitting on the bench in his head processing. It doesn't mean he's a bad leader or it was the cause of the team's collapse. A LOT went wrong this season, a lot of blame to go around.

There have been other QBs that haven't been "emotional" and rah rah. There have been great players who led their teams well that were seen as a-holes, too demanding and harsh but they won. Fans don't really know what they want anyway: McNabb smiled and was loose and they criticized him and wanted him to be more stoic. Hurts is more stoic and they want him to smile and be more rah rah. These opinions are fickle and flip-flop all the time. In 2022 people celebrated that Hurts had ice in his veins, was all business and nothing rattled him. Once the team was losing, they wanted him to be let his emotions take over and act out on the sidelines which honestly that's not what I'd want. I can see wanting him to be more encouraging to the players, maybe go around and pat them on the back and say let's get out there and improve this. But no one accuses the veterans of not doing that. If Kelce is crying and staring into space, Lane Johnson and Mailata are sulking on the bench...why isn't anyone criticizing them for not being more emotional and hyping guys up? It's just another way to be critical of Hurts.

Truly the most fanbsse in sports is Philadelphia.  Race obviously has a huge part to do with all of the Hurts hate as well as Sheil Kapadia pointed out.

Fan favorite could be there in the 3rd.

I'm old enough to remember how people thought Hurts was a blessing and an unanimous top 3 QB; how people thought Sirianni was the perfect coach for the Eagles because he understood Philly's passion; how people thought Howie had a terrific draft and stole the show back in April; heck, I even remember when a lot of fans (and most people here) wanted Kelce gone because he wasn't strong enough and we had Seumalo...

Yeah, sometimes people overreact and pretend they're always right, conveniently forgetting about all their terrible takes in the past. That's something I admire about Hurts' philosophy: never too high, never too low. I wish media and fans adopted it a little bit.

A parking lot attendant heard from the hot dog stand guy that a player slept with his wife. My guess: she got a Schwarbomb.

Carton report yesterday: something happened (that he won't say) that caused a rift in the locker room but was off the field, and it led to the collapse.

Eskin today: that report was likely about Cox and a couple other players telling Hurts to be more emotional.

Doubtful.  Name alone will likely elevate his draft status.

So no one on this board like Dawkins was suggesting, just a felon desperate for attention

Meh.  I think that entire thing has been overblown.

If he’s realistic about his extension request then he should only be asking for what the average 38-39 previously elite player makes past that age and that should be averaged out over the length of the extension.

Now if he’s asking for 40 million a year for 5-6 more years past that age - that’s laughable and he should know that.

Why take Trotter Jr when you get better LBs in Colson and Cooper?

🤔. So, bringing up previous failures is not allowed because its only Feb?   Got it.   I'll wait until May to be disappointed by Howie's unwillingness to invest properly.

Howie lost because HE misread CJGJ, Morrow, Evans, Edmunds, Byard, Cunningham, Jack, Bradberry, Penny.     But, yeah, Howie was a victim.    He couldn't have possibly tried to resign the LBs that we already had, he had to go cheaper with Morrow.   He invested $1M on a one year deal, and he got exactly what he paid for.    He could have resigned Kyzir White.  Yes, it would have cost more than a $1M though.   Whoops.

Between Morrow, Cunningham and Leonard, the Eagles paid less than $5M combined and got less than that in return.   At safety, Edmunds, Evans and Byard cost the team $4M.  And... they got less than that in production from them.

I can't wait to see his moves this offseason.

I don’t think he misread CJGJ.

I don’t mind bringing up past failures.  But that doesn’t mean the low cost gambles he has taken this offseason are the same.

Morrow was a low cost option to White, who frankly faded in 2022 stretch.  White wasn’t available for the stretch for the Cards either.  Howie blew it not offering a contract to Edwards but Dean was drafted to be his replacement.  Evans was more injury risk and that has been his career.  Edmunds was a gamble.  Swing and a miss.  Byard appears washed.  I was surprised at how badly he seemed to play. Bradberry needs a FS with good angles. He has had down seasons in his career.  But he played at All Pro level the year before.  He’ll likely be around through the PS to see which he is.  Secondary missed having a passing game coordinator.  Sounds like there will be one this year.

Do I expect Howie and his team to hit one out of the park? Not at all.  Probably the opposite (and I tend to be a glass half full type). But I do like a few of the moves the team has made this year.  But like I said, it’s February so we are basically talking moves before the new season even officially starts.

I do want to point out that this time last year, I was happy with the McCollum signing and laughing at the Beats who kept saying he was a CB. (Many on here kept asking "who”?) He’s a 6’ 3” S with good speed that is extremely green.  In college, he played S, CB and kind of the STAR position from the Saban D (nickel/S hybrid).  I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make the next step to the 53 this year.

My McCollum this year might be Poe.  Need to see him more to say.  (Played at Mercer, while I watch a lot of college football, can’t say I have seen Mercer so he is a bit of an unknown.)  Kelce like athleticism. All I have seen are the You Tube videos on him.  Played some fullback early in college and plays like that when pulling. Don’t know how his snaps are but curious.  A bit shorter than Kelce.  Looks like he has decent punch.  Two years in (one on SF practice squad and most of last year on the Jets.)  Opted come to the Eagles where we have Stout and like Cs with good athleticism.  We’ll see how his snaps are and what football IQ he can absorb.  But a Masters in college plus SAP certification suggests a pretty smart dude.  Software technology so you know he is going to have attention to detail.

Some of the greatest QBs were very cool and unemotional, at least outwardly. Bart Starr, Joe Montana, Roger Staubach, Warren Moon, Johnny Unitas, Bob Griese, and any number of others. It seems to me that some here dislike a player, Hurts in this case, and then look around for ways to denigrate him. Confirmation bias in its worst form.

Interesting list of names in a underwhelming, seldom talked about TE class.

Devin Culp could be a diamond in the rough. Athlete who wasnt utilized in the Washington offense with all those WRs.

49ers if they lose Jusczyk could be interested in a guy like Jaheim Bell who is only 6'1'' and probably belongs converted to FB- if teams used FBs these days. SF does, and they may have a need there.

Theo Johnson could be another PSU athlete that just blows up the combine as they usually do. Tip Reiman- is he really going to be super athletic at 270lbs?
