Should've been an Eagle.

Gross.... id love a 1st round CB but Rakestraw won't be the best player available.

Yeah - that would be underwhelming, doubt he'd be the best CB at that point let alone all positions.

2nd round, sure.

They were ALL low cost options.   It was incompetence on his part to put the back 7 on the field that he did last year.   Dean is the only player that can be said was 'missed' due to injury, but frankly, was he any better than the rest of the dreck?   Nah.

Howie doesn't need to break the bank on every position (it's impossible to do that), but he needs to be NFL caliber players on the field at all positions.  He failed miserably at that last year.  And, I won't be impressed by his accumulation of more lottery tickets this year when that's not what they need.    Sure, its nice to have a few.  But, its ridiculous to ONLY have those.  Until he adds some NFL caliber pieces to this defense, I will continue to be unimpressed, and I'll wait to laud ANY move by Howie until such time as the player proves he belongs on the field, not just be in the building.

What I really expect, or more exactly what I demand from my GM is that he fields a competitive team at all positions.  Howie failed at that this past season.  The back 7 was bad to start the year, and it only got worse as the year progressed.  And frankly, almost all of it was predictable.  The extent to which it collapsed was the only surprise.  The coaches didn't do much to help the situation, but even then... there's only so much that can be done with the dreck we saw on the field.   The coaches seemed to have given up on the players, and then the players seemed to return the favor.  And Howie is responsible for ALL of it.  That's why he gets the big bucks and sits in the big chair.  He's responsible for the coaching staff, either directly or indirectly... and he's responsible for the talent on the field.   He needs to fix what he broke.   And none of these futures contract guys fit that bill.

I don’t disagree that Howie failed last year at two key defensive positions, S and LB.  (Well, I like Brown and have hope for McCollum but neither were ready in 2023).  His solution at off ball LB was pretty awful, but I don’t know what his choice really was.

Decent group of Ss in free agency, depending on tag use this year.  LB, if we could roll back the clock but in reality another bad year to need off ball LBs.  Right now, he has Brandon Smith (except for the lack of football IQ a prototype ILB on paper), VanSumeren (Howie’s best ILB signing last year and that is not a compliment) and Dean (unimpressive so far).  Can’t rely on the draft.   Need to spend a second round on one.  But should get at least one in free agency, just in case the LBs get overdrafted due to the scarcity.   Expect Howie to let me down yet again on S and undervalue the LBs again.

We actually seem to see things similarly except that I like the early season moves so far (well except resigning Clark).

He says that so he doesn’t get fined/get heat.

Seems like you are based on your posts.  Either that or a 15 year old but we know you aren't 15.  Just a very pathetic person.

I'd say anyone who isn't concerned about Hurts' NFL injury history is pretty damn foolish.

For his style of play…he’s been very healthy.  He had the freak finger thing this year, the ankle last year and what else?

The ankle was 2021. Last year was the shoulder.

Would seem as though Hurts at least put in the work to get beyond his first read.

With that said, the offense was considerably worse and he had more turnovers than almost everyone.

We'll have to see where it goes moving forward, but he and the offense were much better at one read. Kinda confirms the "struggles beyond his first read" argument.

It's also a huge, huge indictment on the play calling as a whole.

Where are these stats from? lol Fields being that low on the list is laughable.

I'd rather be a pathetic person then a mentally disabled one constantly wiping drool off your chin. You claim people "hate" QB1 because of his race? Show me one person that has said that's the reason they don't like him. What's your retarded opinion about people's ish talk of Wentz?

The eagles where the offense has been top 10 or better the past three years? Those eagles?

Yep.  Like I said, results matter.  BTW, their defensive ranking in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 were all top 10.  By your logic, our defenses were also stacked?  Talent has to translate to wins, not stats, in my estimation.  Others may see stats as the measuring stick.  Again, not denying the Eagles have talent, and at least two great players (Kelce and Johnson) but maybe just not as talented as I thought across the board.

But I get it, you don't agree.

Just remembered -- The Crying Game.  Went to see that movie with the girl I was dating at the time.  She leaned over to me and asked "Do you think she is pretty?"  Thankfully, I did not and said "No".  It did leave me wondering afterwards who she'd seen the movie with already, though  LOL

Trying to figure out how racist I am if I loved McNabb but am critiquing our quarter million dollar QB who is also black. I’m confused how this works.

That doesn't make any sense.  They immediately started drafting guys early who didn't test at all (smith, Dickerson, Carter)
