Jakib doesn't get as much hate/dislike given how bad their analysis is and how toxic they are.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

My thought is that if you don’t want to be dissected by the media, don’t choose a career in a big 4 professional spectator sport.  And if you don’t want the added microscope of Philly (or any other indistinguishable major market), don’t force your way out of Tennessee where no one cares and the spotlight isn’t as bright.

This is the same thought process as victim-blaming. Not saying AJ is a victim, but instead of asking the media to be better you're asking the people who are being covered to ignore it.

It’s sports media.  We are talking the bottom of the barrel here.  They aren’t covering the war in Gaza.  I wish the burgers at McDonalds were better too, but it is what it is.  No one tells tmz or the national inquirer to be better.

I understand where AJ is coming from because pile ons can be overwhelming if you get blindsided by them. AJ Brown hasn’t done anything wrong. Had the best back to back receiving seasons in Eagles history, was made a team captain by his head coach, popular with his teammates. Suddenly one day people are talking about trading him and saying he’s a problem child. He must think where in the hell is this coming from.

It’s a shame JAKIB has so much trash because Derrick Gunn and Rob Ellis are good. How the hell they employed Dan Sileo is beyond me.

The city’s media would not have any influence on me if I were a FA.  Wouldn’t even give it a thought to be honest.

I think a reasonable argument can be made that some people respond better to support than criticism. If you are a player and have a family and have an opportunity to pick a place to play, the environment your family would be subjected to would certainly be a factor. It seems obvious to me that AJ Brown isn't particularly loving one aspect of coming to  Philly. Without getting into all that stupid "mentally tough / mentally soft" garbage, there's not one person in my line of work that I've worked with that wouldn't walk away from a job if subjected to the same kind of verbal abuse and/or criticism about their workplace performance.

A person like AJ is clearly struggling with how to deal it today. He tried tuning it out. He tried lashing out. He still hasn't found his answer. Expecting players to a 50 or 60-year-old's maturity level is unrealistic --- certainly not normal.

Would you rather have a team full of players like James Thrash and Reno Mahe that dealt with the noise just fine or players like AJ that are near the top of their position and struggle with that aspect of the profession?

I’m not bashing AJ for struggling with it.  Happy he’s here.  I just have no sympathy.

I don't think it's about player sympathy. It's about: does the media (and their influence) ultimately hurt or help the team?

Dan Sileo is not Philly media.

Just because any idiot can webstream themselves with a microphone does not make them Philly media.

Not sure if JAKIB makes him an official member of the press. Even Bloggers have gotten media recognition.

That's like something that happened in here the other day.

Sure they do.  They get sued all the time.

For us, Thursday & Friday are the big days.

Would Sneed be considered lock down?

He's very good, lock down is subjective. If he shakes free, I think the Eagles are going to sign him. Just a hunch. Feels like the Asante Samuel situation all over again. A stud CB at a good age coming off a dominant team that they may not be able to keep. The Eagles want a young corner who's established in what they consider a championship window and might not want to spend their first rounder on a CB when they prefer to use their first round picks on other positions. Sneed would fill their CB need with youth, while allowing them to draft their OT you know they desperately will want to draft this year. Or even if they don't, could always double up on CB so you have your new duo in 2025 when Slay is gone. First round 2024 rookie + Sneed + Ringo in 2025. Your CB problems would be solved for years.

I think someone like Winfield would probably be higher on their list, but he'll likely be tagged and I just have the feeling Howie will find a way to give his new prized DC one high priced toy and that toy is probably going to be a DB given how they value LBs and the LB class isn't very good anyway.

Genocide in Gaza, but yeah...

I know but I'm saying there are plenty of good coaches that are ****.

The reason he is a college OC currently is because he wasn't that great of a coach.  Just overrated.

The success he had in KC was probably more due to AR and of course Mahomes.

Dude reeks of selfish d head

I don’t understand how they pay their hosts or are anywhere near profitable with <100K subscribers. Might even be as low as 30K which isn’t anything.

Take it to CVON

Trying to read the Phillies nameplates during the broadcast. As bad as you'd think. Thankfully no one seems to have on see through pants as of now.

You listening Thomas Peterson?  (And everyone that posts his garbage here.)

It's ridiculous.  It gives a look like MLB ran out of money. Stupefying, really.

The media should have no impact on the team. Who cares what idiots write or say about you on the internet? It's like when players lash out at fans on Twitter who talk ish, why bother?

This problem isn't going to go away, this is how the media is and they're not changing. So the only solution is to teach the players to ignore them. Answer questions you have to, no comment to ones you don't.
