I get what you're saying, but the offense gets a ridiculous amount of handouts throughout a game - automatic first downs if a defense even farts near a receiver for starters.

I kinda like that we keep just one rule that massively favors the defense.

I don't think the solution to that is to artificially make things more difficult for the offense. They could change TDs to needing 4 steps to make it a TD too, but it wouldn't make sense. A rule is either logical or it isn't. And the number of things that go for or against a defense ends up how it ends up. This one is illogical. And their argument for not changing it that "it's rare" applies just as easily for wanting to change it. If it's so rare, then how often would it really make things more difficult for the defense? They did change the pushing people out of bounds on catches back in the defense's favor in recent years. They did it because the rule was illogical. Why shouldn't a defender have the right to push someone with possession out of bounds before they land?

Just make a rule system that makes sense. If they want to help a defense they can start by not making illegal contact automatic first downs.

Swift is going to want more but at least this means we'll be able to get a decent replacement

Was bored. Would be pretty happy if the board fell this way,

I agree. Quit handicapping the defense. If they are gonna change a rule, change that atrocious defensive holding penalty. 5 yard penalty but automatic 1st down is nuts. Seen too many teams in 3rd and long get bailed out by a tiny "hold”

Like it. Double up on WR but no CB?

Talk about a personal foul

He can want a lot, but the market will determine his value. I don’t think Swift warrants some big contract.

That's the hole in this draft but with so many needs S, LB, CB, EDGE, OL, WR, RB - some of them will need to be dealt with in FA. Only so many draft picks.

On CB specifically, I think we need to either pick one high (Day 1 / 2), and if not I am OK with not at all. A 5th round probably doesn't change trajectory of group much as we already have a bunch of young bodies who may but more likely may not amount to much: Ringo, McPherson, Jobe, Ricks, Garner.

Would you give him 15/3?

With the RB market oversaturated, if the Eagles want to keep Swift, they'll likely be able to at a decent price. The biggest question is do they want to? Curious if Moore will push for a specific RB in the market he thinks would fit his system.

Swift seems to be a perfect fit for his system. He got Pollard out in space a lot and Pollard isnt great at it. Swift will be deadly.

Depends on the structure, but a true $5M a year where we can get out after two years? Maybe because of the cap bump. If we actually would take advantage of his pass catching skills I’d do it with less reservation.

McKee played against the 3rd and 4th string in the 4th Q.   Against such competition, he had a completion percentage of 54.2%.  And he's not a fast runner or anything, can't do what Jalen can do.

I like Mariota.  Best yards per carry on the Eagles last year with 6.5.

Single greatest QB stat of all-time.  Yards per carry.  Jim Brown was the GOAT QB.   I give the nod to Brown over Jamaal Charles due to the defenses faced and the era.

Good.   Too much already tilts in the direction of offense.   Don't extend the ball near the goal line if the risk is too great for you.

It is a steep penalty for the fumble AND having it go out of bounds... but it really only happens on plays where the runner is running to the pylon, rather than the middle of the field.   Let the defense get a win.  Offenses can get 30 yards (or whatever, the 'spot' of the foul was) on a DPI, whereas OPI is a mere 10 yards.  Offensive holding is 10 yards, Defensive holding is 5 yards and automatic first down, no matter what the down and distance is.   Can't hit the QB too high, can't hit too low, defenseless receivers... just too much leaning in the favor of offenses.  Toss a nugget to the defense.

Best CB not being talked about- Renardo Green. Best safety not being talked about- Jaden Hicks.

I have seen it said recently that Hicks may be the 1st safety off the board, which is interesting since he is not on the radar currently in any other draft media.

I didn't think there was any chance that Sanders would get that deal he got but I agree with you. There are going to be a few RB's on the market who will be more coveted than Swift.

I would be tempted to make a run at Barkley or Ekeler. A true 3 down back would add a lot to this offense. I do think we'll end up with Swift again.

QBs throw and run.

Thats what i am thinking as well. Seems fair to him and the team. Could get outbid but if so, so be it

Jon Runyan is a FA. Bring him in Howie. He can play both guard spots. Sign him and draft Trotter Jr

Swift's comments make me think he's gonna be holding out for a big payday.  That's not happening here.

My jury's still out on Swift.  We did not get to see his whole game.  Rushing game was strong, but it's a mystery why he had career lows in receptions.  Is he not a good receiver or is BJ incapable of using Swift in the passing game?

Of that list my favorite would be Josh Jacobs.  Lots of wear on those other guys.

He was targeted over 70 times the past 2 seasons in Detroit with 62 receptions for 452 yards (7.3 ypr) and 2 TDs in 21 and 48 receptions for 389 (8.1 ypr) and 3 TDs in 22.

It's not a mystery why he had career low receiving numbers this year. He can be a receiving threat, this inept coaching staff completely neutered that part of his game.

I hope we keep him, but if he wants $6m or more I don't think this FO do it and we'll likely roll into next season with gainwell, Scott, and a 5th round rookie

Just depends what big is. He’s incredibly efficient 8th in Y/A, top 5 in rushing yards, had 4 less rushes than Josh Jacobs and 240 more yards. Just now turned 25 on January. Should be very fresh since he’s never been forcefed

That's an extremely fair price, if Swift would take that then Howie should waste no time getting that done. Like T-1000 said there are going to be bigger names that are going to garner most of the attention. I think the best move would be to keep Swift.

That would be a disaster if that’s our HB room.

The running game situation should be the same blue print every year.

1.  Build an elite OL.

2.  Maintain the elite OL.

3.  Every 2-3 years, draft a rb round 3-5.

4.  Every year, add 2 vets on 1 year deals.  Some can be late late round trades, some can be 1 year show-me deals for guys that want to leverage our OL into a better contract.

Some years will feature better rotations than others, but you’ll never go wrong with that formula.
