That’s probably how the cap increase works for the Eagles too. It allows us to take out medicine with Bradberry a little easier while extending Smith and Dickerson and targeting a mid-level FA or two or maybe one big fish.

IMO, the cap increase makes it easier to cut Bradberry. We should just bite the bullet even if he rebounds with another team.

Not gonna happen.

Bradberry is always going to be a post June 1 cut.  The cap increase should make it easier to cut Maddox.  No f'n way the Eagles should be paying that guy $9.7M in 2024 to be unavailable.

Boston Scott?  The only thing Scott should be texting is that he's already got his locker cleaned out, and this is the number for the combination lock.

One guy I don't want the Eagles to pursue that I think they probably will is Geno Stone. He was a one year wonder with 7 INTs, is probably going to be paid like it, and that feels like a guy who will get a big contract from a team and majorly disappoint because you'd be paying for him when his value is at its peak. Never sign guys who are coming off career seasons that you didn't consider elite before their career season.

Unless they want brownie points with players, it makes no sense to cut Bradberry early.  The money isn’t available until June 1 and the savings in 2024 is minimal. Really the only advantage to cutting him as a June 1 is the spread into 2025.  I would bring him to the OTAs and see if he is really cooked or had a real bad year with no real S help.  They can cut him in the final cutdowns and get the same level of value.  Kelce is likely a June 1 retirement.  Then there are Cox and Graham to factor for dead money too.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Howie has suggested a salary cut for Maddox.  I am surprised they haven’t cut Byard loose early rather than wait for the start of free agency.  I do wonder if they have proposed a pay cut to Byard and a Corey Graham type role.  (Not that I favor that, just can’t explain why he hasn’t been cut loose.)

We can only hope...

Javon Kinlaw and Josh Uche would be good for the DL.

Yes, we need more 240 lb edge rushers...

Patrick Queen is my clear #1

Luvu is an interesting name. 6'3, solid in all 3 phases. A little older than I'd like, but good for a 3 yr deal.

I think Queen is the classic massively overpaid player coming off his best year while playing next to an elite player.

So... Byron Maxwell?

I don’t think Queen will be a bum, so there’s that.

Just draft an LB with a top 50 pick. This doesn't have to be hard.

Deshon Elliot, Van Ginkel, and Jewell are who I think wind up in Philly. Fangio dudes and mid tier signings. Maybe even Howard too. Although I think they would draft a CB early this year before doing that.

Oh, and we'll all be told they were all in and close to signing Sneed and Jaylon Johnson.

According to Howie, it's easy to be hard, and easy to say no.

EASY TO SAY NO!!  Chuck tells a fantastic story about almost rejoining Three Dog Night after getting clean.

There’s always going to be some restructures too. I think the Eagles will have enough money to do whatever they need to within reason. I think they’ll probably add a CB, Safety, LB, RB and maybe a backup QB of varying quality. The LB class isn’t great so that’ll probably be one they skimp on again or possibly address via trade. As always it depends on who’s available and who’s tagged. I think they’re going to chase someone of significance to improve this defense for Fangio. You don’t bring a guy of his stature in and tell him to deal with trash in the back 7.

We will hear rumours of their targets by the end of next week.  It's not like Fangio isn't familar with the Eagles's players.  If he has influence, my hope is he gets Howie to focus on safety.  There's several potential long-term starters that would be upgrades. Kamren Kurl or Xavier McKinney would be good pick ups.  CJ GJ is a viable target.  His market value isn't going to be high. He may want to go back to Detroit but he's not assured a starting role.  In Philly, he would be the de facto starter.  He has some familiarity with Fangio.  I think at LB there's a high degree of bust potential if they go after Queen or Devin White.   I would like them to sign Jerome Baker.  He did have 2 injuries at the end of last season but has otherwise been healthy.  He had a really good year under Fangio.

He has all-time Eagle status.

Agree on Queen. He and Stone to me are no-no's. TJ Edwards is an objectively better LB than Queen and Queen will get paid substantially more than Edwards got. Queen would be paying top dollar for a slightly above average LB who played in a great defense. Remember a year ago he was considered a bust.

UFA is a tough game. Best case, you get a Malcolm Jenkins/Brandon Brooks case - good player on his way to being great on a reasonable deal.

Really good, you get a Reddick/Hargrave type - same thing but older guy whom you will have a pain in the ass decision to make on in 2 years.

Of course Queen will be overpaid, any FA would be. If Michael Pittman hit the market he'd be getting $20M+ AAV. But Queen is only 24 and was a good player before 2023, just was a borderline great one this year. If you believe in the fit and the contract isn't toooo crazy, i think he'd be a good signing.
