Better be a 1st. I'm gonna be pretty upset if they trade him

It's not going to be for a first.

I'm not saying they are the same but it's something to at least compare to.

Haason Reddick will be 30 this year (September). He had 11 sacks last year at 29.

Robert Quinn had 18.5 sacks when he was 31 and the Eagles traded a 4th rounder for him when he was 32 when his sack count was at 1.

I think a a 3rd and conditional 5th gets it done.

Eagles make him play out the contract in that scenario IMO. I don’t think they move him for anything less than a 2024 2nd + conditional late round pick in 2025.

I'm definitely a fan but we already have a small LB in Dean. We need some substance in the middle.

Why so they get isolated in coverage as a liability? Old paradigm

I am not sure who would pay that kind of price plus the cost for a new deal.

Agreed…has to be better than a 3rd+ (unless the + was a very solid player).  Howie can act in negotiations like he can afford him with the cap increase…because he can.  No reason to sell him at a discount.

If his agent has worked out the terms of a new deal with another team, the Eagles will make the trade.

I have also expressed interest in Kate Beckinsale…

IMO, not locking Reddick in long term is almost more important than the return they get in a trade. The Eagles have first hand experience with how fast players can fall off after 30.

James Bradberry is exhibit A. Robert Quinn is exhibit B. Ryan Kerrigan is exhibit C.

Reddick wants $25 million/year. The Eagles are not paying him that. Reddick is not playing here on his current deal. You take what you can rather than lock in to a player who will be in decline during that contract. I would much rather get ride of Reddick 1 year too soon than be locked in to a $25 million player on the decline.

The Eagles also used a 1st round pick on Nolan Smith last year. Do you want a 1st round pick to sit on the bench for half of his rookie contract? You've got to get your draft picks on the field. If you bring Reddick back, Nolan Smith is looking at 15-20% of the snaps. Sorry, another piss poor use of draft picks.

Which is why I still think he might stay.

Not good enough to deal him

QB factory?

Can NFL teams trade with flag football associations?

Feels like that’s the Eagles leak. That teams are interested in him to try to get more value to get what they want in a trade. I think they’ll be teams that want to trade for him. I don’t think teams are going to wanna pay him in a new contract and give up the compensation that the Eagles are asking for. I think that the better question is what are they actually going to get if they trade him.

Meanwhile we have Graham putting up an 11 sack season last year when he's 35, and Cox having really good back to back seasons when he's 30+. It depends on the player. I think Reddick will age well. I could see him getting 12 sacks at age 32 very easily. But even if they trade him there is zero chance they just hand Nolan Smith the starting job next season. They will sign someone or draft an edge rusher high. So either way, Nolan Smith will be limited in his snaps.

I think Howie kinda put the writing on the wall out there yesterday that he's more likely gone than back at this point. He got a softball question of "what is the best case scenario with Haason Reddick?" and the best answer he could come up with is "open communication". That felt like a very tone setting answer to the fanbase.

Still don't think they'll get a combination of draft capital they'd want and a team paying him what he wants.

What about the Cards early 2nd rounder (44). Then we flip our 3rds (we get 66 or 71 and they get our comp pick) and we can throw them back a 5th too.

Oh don’t disagree. Also think the whole Nolan smith played well in the playoff game was to boost him up like he is capable of being part of the replacement for Reddick.

that said I don’t think they are currently getting the value they think he’s worth. I think that’s why that leak came out from Anderson. It only benefits the eagles to let it be known multiple teams were interested. I think they want it to be know there’s "bidding” war and hope to get more of what they are looking for in a trade

BG had 3 sacks last year but I understand the point you're making. Khalil Mack had 17 sacks last year at 32. It's case by case but the Eagles luck with old players just hasn't been that great. In all honesty, BG shouldn't be back this year either but they are letting him do his Rolling Stones tour. I'd welcome Fletcher Cox back because they have a need at DT. I'd much rather the Eagles young players actually develop so they don't have to depend on 30+ year old guys but as we've discussed, they can't develop players.

The Eagles were in a much better position to extend Reddick last offseason and they chose not to. I highly doubt they plan to extend him this year when his price is higher. They will make him play out the last year of his contract unless a team comes up with compensation the Eagles like. Reddick is not in their long term plans.

I’ve felt this way for a while. If they don’t get what they want he comes back and plays out his contract. He gets some extra money this year like the cardinals did with Buddha baker to smooth it over for a year

I've been adamant I want to keep Reddick. I think 2023 has people paranoid and wanting to overcorrect. Bradberry's season has a lot of people shook about keeping anyone at big money over age 30 now. Burns will be tagged, Allen will be tagged, Chase Young has talent but is a risk. This isn't a great pass rusher free agent class or a great draft class. And they have too many needs to where using a first rounder on an edge will hurt them in other areas. I don't see any way trading Reddick doesn't significantly hurt their SB chances in 2024. And make no mistake, 2024 is a SB or bust season. Otherwise, they wouldn't have made the coaching moves they made. If they had any desires to take a step back, Sirianni would've been fired.

I don't see any viable replacement, and a 2nd rounder+ is fine, but it doesn't really help the Eagles in 2024. Their most productive pass rusher since Trent Cole and possibly even Reggie White walking out the door isn't easy to replace. And Josh Sweat was inconsistent with Reddick on the other side. Imagine how much more inconsistent he'll be when he's the one offenses focus on because they lost that guy on the other side.

Telling you, trading Reddick, this pass rush will be bottom 5 in the league. And sure they might be better off in 2026 or 2027 because of it, but people are not going to be happy in November and December when we're sick of watching QBs have all day to throw every week because the pass rush blows. Everyone can act like they're cool building for the future in the moment, but when the games actually start, fans tend to sing a different tune. We saw it this past season. A year ago it was "I understand why they let so many free agents walk" and during the season it was "They let way too many guys walk, Howie is an idiot for letting Edwards, White, etc go"
