So we save an additional 13 mil now with this cut?

Compare this to Caleb Williams attitude towards the draft. Give me a guy like Daniels 10 out of 10 times.

Williams is a bust waiting to happen. Way too many red flags.

Apologies if this has been discussed, but this new proposal to allow QBs to throw the ball away while in the pocket, so long as the ball gets back to the line, is seemingly bananas to me. If the NFL does this, it's going to drastically reduce the number of sacks, and with fewer negative plays for the offense, defenses will be ridiculously handicapped.

My question is -- if this passes, does it drastically reduce the value of pass rushers? Does someone like Reddick lose significant value? Yeah, you'll still want to get pressure to speed up the QB, but forcing an incompletion as opposed to a sack is a gargantuan difference. On top of that, how many more roughing the passer calls will there be when the QB just dumps the ball and then still gets hit? Now the defense is losing 15 yards and giving up a first as opposed to a grounding call that loses 10+ and is a loss of down. I feel like this will fundamentally and drastically change the value of pass rushers...which isn't awesome for a team like the Eagles that pours so many resources into the D Line.

If the Eagles were to trade Reddick to the Cowboys, the matchup of Lane vs Reddick doesn't scare me one bit. The Cowboys are one of the top drafting teams in the NFL. If you can take away some of their draft ammo I'm all for it.

Zero chance they trade him to Dallas.

I find it kinda hilarious people complain about remakes and reboots but desperately want to do it with the Eagles by signing Runyan and drafting Trotter.

For the right price, Big Nasty’s kid would be an upgrade to other available options at RG.  Kid has made a name for himself.  After Cooper, and dependent on Payton Wilson’s physical at the combine, Trotter is probably the second or third best off ball LB in a draft that is low on starting prospects.

Another legacy I like Frank Gore Jr.  (Eagles draft Frank Gore Jr. but fail to get the card up in time and Indy jumps the pick).  Seriously, Gainwell and Scott type size.  Center of gravity a lot like Scott.  Decent enough hands.   Sees the hole well and follows his blockers well.  Takes the inside yards instead of trying to break out wide.  Seems to have good vision.  Probably time to move on from Scott and Gore Jr. day 3 would be a solid choice.

i would not be disappointed at all in an offseason that brought in Runyan, Trotter (although I really like Cooper), Gore Jr. and Brenden Rice.

Sure. Reddick for Parsons.

This I would do 😂

If the Cowboys want to give us 2 1sts for Reddick, then I would trade him without hesitation.

Don't be afraid to trade inter-division. See the McNabb trade.

I feel like Gore is a UDFA so I wouldn't complain, but wouldn't have any expectations either.

The rest would be pretty exciting. Admittedly most of the excitement about Trotter would be for name only.  Aside from Cooper and Wilson, there are a few more I think will be better.  Arguably Trotter is not even the best LB on his own team though Carter stayed in school.

Colson, Eichenberg, Gray and Liufau might be better than Trotter.

And then there are higher upside athletic LBs.

Trotter is kind of a solid but unspectacular pick.

Who was the last Eagle to tear their ACL before Sydney Brown? Was it Derek Barnett in 2022?

He had his surgery on January 19. Realistically, it's a 9 month recovery. He might not be ready to roll until October and chances are he starts the season on PUP.

The Eagles have Reed Blankenship and that's it. He's a starter by default...again. They didn't challenge him last year and this year they are going to have to do all they can just to field 4 safeties.  That means Howie has to hit on 2 FA signings and a draft pick just to have enough for opening day. It leaves little to no room for error here.

There's a good chance the Eagles try to sell us on Mekhi Garner or Tristin McCollum as up and coming UDFA gems.

That's basically how he became the starter last year... by default.   He hadn't earned the job, and he didn't earn it in TC/PS either.   There was literally no competition.

I like Blankenship, but he's probably best as the #3 S, not as one of the two primary safeties.

Amazing how Joe decamara and people following him on Twitter think slay is gone. His cap hit makes it really unlikely. If he’s cut it’s 22 mil cap hit. If he’s traded pre June 1st it’s around 11 mil cap hit. And if post June 1st cut it’s around $8 mil cap hit. Only makes sense if it’s post June 1st trade which i dont see happening unless we suck and they deal him at the deadline.

Nah... I'm right there with you.   The Eagles thought they had found a cheat code.  But, what they found was a way to self-limit their offense so that their goal was to get in position to run the Push, rather than anything else.   It's one of the main reasons I think their 3rd down conversions were down, and their red zone offense was bad.   I can't remember many passes into the end zone from the red zone... most were thrown short and run in, if they went for a TD.

Oh BS.  What the Eagles determined was fourth and one wasn’t a kicking down.  I don’t think the goal was ever get to fourth and one, the goal is a first down or TD every down.  Now did it increase the long ball attempts, because it might provide an "extra” down.  Sure seemed like Johnson called it that way sometimes and he looked at what Shane did with the run all wrong because Shane studied the defense tendencies and played those.  Nothing suggested that Johnson (with contribution from Nick*) called plays based on that level of tendency study.

* One only remember all the bombs Nick called before he gave play calling to giving the play calling to Shane for support of this presumption.  Also, I have frequently asserted Nick is allergic to motion.  Note how motion became part of Shane’s offense in Indy.  Hope he backs down on that with Moore.

Agreed.  The goal wasn't "lets get to 4th and 1", it was a view of "We have 3 downs to get 9 yards, not 10, which is an advantage we have over everyone else".

Now lousy offensive playcalling MAY have given it that perception.......

Yeah, for other teams' offenses.

If they actually make that change I can't see myself watching football that much longer. The product is already getting worse, add in God awful officiating, 3 billion commercial breaks, and oversaturation of a watered down product (Sunday, two Monday night games, Thursday night) and I'll probably end up doing what I do with basketball and only watch the playoffs.

I love the eagles but football is just so hard to watch anymore, take away the defense and might as well switch to flags

They’re fans that also think he’s being traded or cut cause the cap went up so they can eat the bullet. I was like yeah they aren’t eating 8-22 mil of cap space just cause the cap went up
