  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Short arms

We need a Jerome Bettis kind of RB. The shove is becoming a predicable gimmick. Eagles RB's are usually undersized.

That’s 3 people mentioning CJGJ now.

Saw a couple speculate that the Eagles could pursue Christian Wilkins as well given he was great under Fangio and they almost traded up for him in the draft. Feels like that would be overkill at DT though.

Howie seeing all these crazy OT measurable and won't be able to resist.

Rashawn Slater gets by with 33” arms, but yeah the arm length is going to make his job a bit more difficult.

Here's a little RAS history from the Eagles drafts since 2016. To me it shows a correlation with potential, and the Eagles have more recently been buying heavily into it. A lot of those players on the lower side were not great here, nor received a second contract with the team. Obviously RAS isn't everything, but its a good predictor.

good post.   Nolan Smith isn't really a DE.   The Eagles call Smith a OLB,  as well as Reddick.   The DEs are Sweat and Graham.

Damn near 6-9

At that point being so tall is a weakness - maybe improved stride length for the kick slide, but otherwise a center of gravity issue.

I'm okay with it as long as we don't use our 1st on the OL. We're thin there and Dickerson, Jurgens and Lane were banged up all year so having viable backups seems kind of necessary at this point.

Bettis,   Derrick Henry,  Saquon Barkley, AJ Dillon, Gus Edwards - vets.

Braelon Allen - draft picks.   Watch for pro days to find a 230+ pound RB or FB.

I don't think shove is a problem.  It works.  It doesn't work on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 5 in the 4th Q.   The problem the Eagles had last year was the Eagles would have a small lead in the 4th,  they'd hand it to Swift, he'd get 2 yards,  giving the Eagles 2nd and 8,  on their way to a punt,  and it would often include an incomplete pass.  Swift being underwhelming in the 4th Q led to Eagles losses in the last half of the year.

here are some big backs who will probably be doing pro days.   all are big enough. all are probably udfas, not drafted.   some might be fast enough for power running

Demetrius Battle        Alabama-Birmingham      6-0      245      4.54 - 4.73      Birmingham, AL      John Carroll

Tyson Riley        Army      6-2      255      4.57 - 4.76      Mount Vernon, MO      Springfield Catholic

Jakobi Buchanan        Army      6-0      255      4.83 - 5.04      St. Charles, MO      Chaminade Prep

Henry Teeter        Texas Tech      6-3      250       -      San Angelo, TX      Central

Johnny Langan        Rutgers      6-2      245      4.63 - 4.82      Wayne, NJ      Bergen Catholic

I had him as a potential RG to RT candidate but not with the short arms. RG only for me and I am against the o-lineman in round 1 and even more so now. I listened to the Sheil podcast and they mentioned how the Eagles need to get away from the drafting guys to sit the bench for 3 years or so. This offseason really makes me think that so it was refreshing and invigorating to hear I'm not the only one in this mindset now.

Exactly. Year before they're needed? Sure. 2-3 years? Now you're just wasting draft capital. We have dire needs at CB, S, and LB, and people are talking about drafting Lane's replacement in round one.

I get that Lane tends to get hurt and miss 2-3 games, but he hasn't hinted at retirement at all. Drafting a replacement is a 2-3 year from now issue. If you want depth, get depth in the mid rounds. Don't waste a first on a backup who might play 8 games in 3 years.

This is why I don't believe in drafting strictly BPA. The true BPA might very well be an OT at our pick, but if there's a highly rated CB/S (let's be real, they aren't going LB round 1) there is no reason to draft the OT.  Some people act like you can only draft BPA or only draft for need, it's a balance.

The Eagles have an open starting spot.
Hurts
Brown
Smith
Goedert
???? (WR3 or TE2)
???? (RB)

The Eagles need those ???? spots filled by someone.

Right now, it looks like Covey is the starting WR3 and Gainwell is the starting RB.

I think that most here would rather have someone else

Yeah you can fill that position but not with a second rounder. I highly doubt using a second round pick for someone to get 30 catches would be worth it.

There have been so many of these types and the eagles refuse to pick them. Instead we get Boston Scott, Donnell Pumphrey and Kenneth Gainwell.

Yeah it's pretty annoying. Curious what their criteria is for a running back.

Cant run down hill, if you get touched you fall.

In the running back draft of the decade we came home with Donnell Pumphrey 5’5, 112 lbs.

I can see them going after Wilkins.  Probably won't get him but they'll make an effort.

Considering a team like Houston, which has been linked to him, has twice the cap space as Philly, it’d be hard to see us competing for that level of FA.

Mims is a physical freak, went to Georgia and played RT. He has RT1 NFL upside. He has taken reps at LT before in practice. If he there's at 22, Howie takes him.
