  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Yeah you can fill that position but not with a second rounder. I highly doubt using a second round pick for someone to get 30 catches would be worth it.

2 positions.

1 starting WR or TE
1 starting RB

OL would obviously be out,  because the Eagles have 6 OL starters already (5 if Kelce retires)

And the Eagles have 3 1st and 2nd round picks.

If you start talking about the future,  you really should be prioritizing the present.

If the Eagles draft a WR in the 2nd,  that WR could replace a current,  extremely expensive WR.

Adding a great WR/TE and RB will increase the quality of the offense.

AJ Brown got hurt,  missed the playoffs,  the Eagles Lost because of that.  If the Eagles had more WRs,  the Eagles might not have lost that first playoff game.

I'm not saying WR instead of TE,  not saying WR/TE instead of RB.  But the Eagles have 2 of 6 positions open.  The Eagles don't even have backup WRs.

Brown + Smith + Covey at WR - and no one else - sounds good to you?

The Eagles had no depth on offense.  4 good players (not counting OL) and 100% of the Eagles good players got hurt.  Hurts, Goedert, Smith and Brown - all got hurt.  And Eagles fans were incapable of understanding that putting Goedert, Smith and Brown on the field every single down on offense would wear them out.  And that's exactly what happened.

Brown is better than any Ravens WR,  but the Ravens had 4 WRs,  not 2,  and all 4 of those WRs were 1st round picks, and they got to the AFC championship game.

OLs are running

Berman brought up the other day that the Eagles had a great 2021 draft and there was no combine. Could be a small sample, but could also be that without workouts they had to go purely on game film and maybe sometimes when you put too much into workouts it can negatively affect your picks.

That would be an interesting study. If over time teams drafted better without workouts or not.

Mims not running?

Could see Eagles being in on him more than Sneed. Has some injury concerns though.

Fully expect us to bring him him then

Makes 1.2M in base salary. Can easily fit him in.

Saints don't get a ton of cap relief by cutting him though.

Mims is a physical freak, went to Georgia and played RT. He has RT1 NFL upside. He has taken reps at LT before in practice. If he there's at 22, Howie takes him.

Because the Eagles need a backup Tackle to wait 3 years for Lane to retire,  instead of a starter at WR/TE?  Or CB,  which is actually a great need?

I like this guy,  who is probably the top Ras guy so far.

Tylan Grable.   High School Running QB.

4.96 40

1.69 10
36.5 vert

9'9 broad

and he should be available when the Eagles have a lot of picks in the 5/6

There were a lot of fast CBs.   The Eagles should be able to get a good CB in the first.

The Eagles don't have a starter at WR3/TE2.  I love the idea of using those versatile freakbeasts the Eagles have on defense at offensive skill positions.   However, last year,  the Eagles didn't do that.  They just used Hurts, Goedert, Brown and Smith until every single one of them got hurt.  Maybe that's always going to be the plan.  Good players and decoys.  I don't like that plan even if that's the plan always.   I think that 3 good players in the WR/TE/RB group is way too few.

Who is the best RB?
Who is the big RB (last year the Eagles lost games because Swift wasn't good enough at running for tough yardage in the 4th)?
Who is the other starter on offense?  What position does that other starter play?

I'd have VanSumeren run and block and catch and throw.  Or have Nolan Smith do what he can.  Or have players like Kelce run and block,  maybe he can carry the ball on a shove.

The Eagles tested what would happen if they only throw to Brown, Smith and Goedert.  And the results of the test were.  1) the Eagles win  then 2) they all get hurt then 3) the Eagles lose.   Having half an offense is not good at the end of the year,  but it's perfectly fine at the beginning.

I don't know.

But,  they have it broken down into 2 groups,  and I guess the M-Z are the second group.

You mean that the year the Eagles started with their best draft position since 2013 they had one of their best drafts? 😲

He has a guaranteed $14M option bonus Eagles would have to pick up. Thats why Saints would trade him.

Sure, but that doesn't help their short-term cap issues.

The problem is that we'd have 3 CBs (Ringo, Slay and Lattimore) who can't play the slot.

https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=19077&p2=10688&pos=OT

Ras Compare - Tylan Grable  (the high school running QB I like) vs Lane Johnson (the guy who will need to be replaced, probably, sometime before 2030_

They're almost identical in size and everything else.

Lane has the better ras of 9.91.   Grable is 9.78 ras.

Lane is 1/4 inch taller
Grable is 3 pounds heavier
(basically the same size)

Lane had a blazing 40 of 4.72 (9.98 ras)
Grable had 4.96

The 10 split was very similar - Lane 1.68, Grable 1.69

The jumps were almost the same. Lane had the better broad - 9'10 v 9'09  Grable had the better vert 36.5 v 34.

basically the same except for Lanes off the charts 40.

When you actually don't need to replace a player for years,  you can get a player who is close to physically identical,  and have your great OL coach coach him up.   You don't need to spend expensive resources to do so.  Grable is a day 3 or udfa.  Mock draft database has him as a udfa at this point.  But, right now,  Grable is the top ras OL, so,  he might go up,  but udfas who few have heard of rarely jump to day 2 based on the combine.

We know that kids will lose weight for the combine to run better numbers so it could make sense

Nothing really helps their short term cap issues with him. Not sure why they would get rid of him.

Yeah was distracted cooking and helping with homework…

good enough for him

Aaaaand and pulled hammy. Dammit

Howie better address CB by late April, because there's no way the dude is going to be able to resist going OT in round 1.

Mims getting hurt again makes his profile scary, despite all the insane measurables.

They gotta quit the forty for these guys
