I like mckee, but wouldnt be opposed to the eagles using a late pick on a qb..

Too many needs to take a qb earlier than id say the 5th

Is there are real need?  Will Mariota be back?  I like him and he's won a playoff game, not much worse as a passer, faster and less powerful as a runner.  The right amount of worse than the starter.

I don't see the point of McKee, not to say he's bad,  it's fun to develop a QB to trade?

I have 2 UDFA college QB / something else guys.  Versatile, maybe not freakbeasts.

John Rhys Plumlee  -  Ole Miss then UCF,  QB all years but 1,  a WR for that 1.

Possibly the fastest QB, said to be 4.3.   QBs in the 4.4s or below are rare, and 4.4 and below is good enough for WR or RB. So, with a udfa you have a raw receiver with good speed and a super fast QB.  I'd think he'd start at practice squad.  A good QB who had 1 season at QB with over 1,000 yards rushing at Ole Miss.  A passer rating of 150.5 last year.  Legit enough to be a backup QB.  (Tanner McKee's best passer rating was 138.7)

Johnny "Offense" Langan - Rutgers QB, then "offense"/TE.

His specialty is power running.  6'2 245.  A slower (probably) Derrick Henry.  Much of his running involves breaking tackles, moving the pile and dragging people.  It's been a long time since the Eagles have had a big back.  He's not as fast as Braelon Allen,  but when we get his numbers,  I'd like to see how he compares to Estime at RB.   Big back,  RB,  QB,  TE, FB.  They had him playing all over the place. So, raw at any specific position,  but quite versatile.    He started QB freshman year and didn't pass great,  but in his versatility role, 18/25 203 yards 4 tds 0 ints as a passer over 3 years.  He had a game where he had 6 carries, 6 catches, 2 passes, 1 td pass.  A bigger, slower Taysom Hill for a team that has difficulty running out the clock in the 4th Q with power running.  He's listed in draftscout.com as a FB, so he should be able to do blocking that other RBs can't do.  He was listed as a TE last year.

Yea it’s just not official until next Wednesday. I remember Eagles trading for Bennett happened early too

I think Alex Smith getting traded to the Redskins was announced around the time of the Super Bowl the year that happened.

Agree

just curious what the plan is for RG. Hopeful that Steen can step up

that should work plenty fine.

No actual need for new OLs this year, but it's always good to bring in a good new one or 2.

I'll take Tylan Grable in the 5th/6th

Broncos cap situation is interesting. They have -16M this year with only 23 players scheduled to be on the roster next year. They are projected $110M in cap space next year. I doubt Surtain will even want to be there. Simmons would most likely be cut. They can’t even start the rebuild this season. Fire sale and the 1st pick next year seems inevitable.

I got that. 👍We have some geezers in the Blog, myself among them. I just wanted to be sure they understood about age 70.

This is the year for the Broncos to take it all on the chin by trading down in the draft for more picks + cutting/trading older players. They have no chance to win the SB.

Speaking of Bennett, this is the only memory I have of him as an Eagle. 😂

The other day I was looking at the trades Howie has made, mainly the deadline trades that have been disasters and when I came across Michael Bennett I didn't realize how good he was for the Eagles. I never liked his attitude and this sounds silly, he looks ridiculous in the way he wore his uniform so I guess I just blocked it out.

Bennett 2018- 69% of the snaps. 9 sacks, 15 TFL and 30 QB hits while starting just 10 games.

BG 2020- 69% of the snaps. 8 sacks, 13 TFL and 16 QB hits. BG started every game and made the Pro Bowl that year.

Josh Sweat 2023- 71% of the snaps.6.5 sacks, 7 TFL and 23 QB hits.

Bennett was a totally underrated Eagle.

I thought we all knew how good he was.

His personality made him forgettable.

If there ever was a time to try to fleece them for Surtain, it's now. Off the top of my head, I don't know what Slay's cap hit is but I know it's not pretty, however I'd do pick 22 and Slay for Surtain and a conditional.

I just couldn't ever tell myself that a guy that looks like this is good.

Guess that's one way to keep OL from holding.

It would cost us 11M to trade Slay this year. The Broncos are trying to shred cap space this year. It would have to be just draft picks.

Apparently there was a lot of talk at the combine about Washington making a strong push to trade to #1 to bring Caleb Williams home.

That would be great.

Would anyone really be shocked if the Michigan kid who got hurt, zinter, fell 50 that they would take him?

Not I.

It's actually not a bad setup.  The worst part is that they never had their time in the sun.  You want that to justify the rebuild and to go into it with a bit of a fresh perspective.

But...the massive cap hit is irrelevant because they aren't competing for anything this year.  They will have a top 5 pick next year to go with tons of cap room.  So they have a chance to do a proper ground up rebuild.

If you suck anyway and don't have the talent to spend it on, that's the best time to take the dead cap hit.  I'd probably look to trade Surtain for a ransom if I were them.

I want to make fun of @Random Reglarfor fixating on making our #2 QB double as our power RB, but the Eagles have truly done that with our #1 QB.  So who am I to disagree?

So where's that put the Eagles in cap space after this?

He will have to be a designated post june 1st cut.  0 chance they try to carry him on the roster for obvious reasons, but if he's not cut by 3/18 his 2025 salary becomes guaranteed.

I literally said he gets along with the other A type personalities, which means I believe nfl athletes are A type personalities. Fascinating how many people here can't read, or comprehend what they can read.

The question was who were the leaders, you chose to pick Slay out of the group and say he shouldn’t be a leader. He’s literally a captain/leader and you want to for some asinine reason try to denounce him and apply your arbitrary labels unto him.

You don’t mention his work ethic, his prescience as a mentor, his knowledge of the game, his willingness to teach, his experience in the NFL, his squeaky clean record… instead a clip of a podcast where it’s his job solely to get views/ears and apply that to him as a whole. So he’s a me first A hole because of 15 seconds but you give up the other decade+ he’s been playing football?  Saying people shouldn’t follow his lead because of something very minor he said on a podcast is absurd.

What a joke.

I was about to make a joke that it's going to be a  1 year, 10 million dollar contract with 9 million deferred as a salary bonus with 4 void years.....  but his last contract was just 1 year 5 million.  For a rotational player and locker room leader, another one of those is fine by me.

Losing BG, Kelce and Cox in one year is a lot. By phasing it out, it's easier on the locker room.

And while they will get draft assets for Surtain in that scenario, it saves them nothing against the cap
