I would like to watch Steen play more than one game at RG where he doesn't get isolated against Micah Parsons before calling him a bust.

That’s not what this discussion is or ever was.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

There is no player who will benefit more from under-center runs/passes than Steen btw.

Valid, but given their cap hell, if I'm in charge of the Broncos, I'm letting it ride this next season, then moving on from him next year with a much more palatable dead cap.  Best case scenario is that he plays well this season and then maybe you can trade him to some one who would be willing to give you a pick or two in return.

All that, of course, depends on whether you view Russ as a malcontent.  If he's a malcontent then it's probably a good idea to move on ASAP.

$89 in dead cap is insane.  You can barely field a team with what they have to work with.

Looking at their roster, they barely have a team now

Cutting Wilson represents an additional 50 million they need to free up. Might as well go full fire sale and get draft assets for whoever you can.  Sutton, Simmons, etc can all free up around 10 mil or more.  Plus a few restructures you can get under, be terrible, and secure a top draft pick.  It hurts now but it’s manageable

Hell, take it to overdrive and trade mid to late round draft picks for future picks.  Load up on young talent next year including a QB and if he shows promise surround him with FAs the following year to make a run.

Surprised the Bucs would even do this considering their roster and his age.

1k+ yards for 10 years

I don't see the Bucs being real contenders in either of the next two years. Signing Baker and re-signing Evans means they are just competing for the NFCS and maybe a wildcard win each year.

Maybe they view Evans as their Jason Kelce. I think it would have just made more sense to do a real rebuild instead of treading water.

Fanatics?

Ordered off the Eagles website. Has been fine for me in the past.

Hurst has fooled quite a few teams over the years.

But Dickerson (presumably) is going to sign a big money extension while Steen us three cheap years on a rookie contract.

I don’t think you’re being intellectually honest if you’re comparing drafting Beebe in round 2 to these other examples. The Eagles knew Peters/Kelce could retire at any moment. Goedert was drafted because we wanted to play more two tight end sets. Jones was drafted to redshirt and then start the next year.

In Beebe’s case, it would be to start immediately.

Goedert was drafted because they had a 1st round grade on him.  Jones was drafted because he was widely viewed as a first round pick.  Dillard was about where they valued him relative to other players.

They may very well believe Beebe is a first round talent and would be a steal in the second round.  They value the position. If they think Beebe is the next coming of Brandon Brooks and they have a higher grade on him than any other player available, Steen isn't really a factor in the equation especially at this point.  They are just scouting players.

You stated that they would have to admit they were wrong about Steen if they draft Beebe.  I am not sure how you jump to that conclusion.  I don't think Steen was drafted to be an immediate starter.  He was drafted for his potential. He is a work in progress.  He will have plenty of opportunity to compete for a starting spot even if they draft Beebe.

Im looking at the newest Walterfootball mock and this is wild to me. Not just Prather in round 2, who absolutely no one is talking about. But, whats this rumor?

There are rumors the Colts could trade for A.J. Brown. If they don’t get a deal done, they may spend an early pick on a receiver.

Kaden Prather is a huge receiver who runs well for his size.

Again, it has to do with how they perceive Beebe.

Beebe does nothing for me. T-Rex.

You’re being dishonest if you think Goedert was drafted just because they had a first round grade. They also wanted to lean into the two-TE offense.

And there’s simply no way Howie is drafting a guard in the second round if they’re still high on Steen at guard. No chance.

Walter has the eagles taking

Lassiter

McConkey, Bullard

no 3rd rounder

Tykee Smith

Weird draft.

3 of the first 4 picks are secondary. Lassiter in round 1 is early although I think he can be as good as any CB.

Bullard is a CB/S who might be a nickel, which we dont need to be drafting in round 2. With Tykee Smith did we take 2 safeties?

I dont really know what to make of it.

Seriously?

If the Eagles drafted a guard in round 2, that pretty much is admitting defeat that they did a poor job projecting Steen to guard. I suppose that could put him in play as the backup swing tackle and potential RT of the future, but his arm length is a problem.

Unless they drafted Steen as the swing T given that Driscoll, the current OL in that role is a UFA and frankly could be upgraded.  I do wonder about Kinnard, who AR had as a T.  Eagles did the same with Steen mostly last year.  (Played Seumalo some at T when he started out, IIRC.)   Might be better depth pieces than Opeta, who while a T in college pretty much was a G here.  Like that Johnson, Kinnard and Steen may be able to play four positions across the line (Toth too.). Kinnard also may get some C snaps.  Poe, who played G in college also getting C snaps. Extremely athletic.

They didn’t.

If the Eagles see Bebe as a Brandon Brooks, I don't think they draft him because I think Steen was supposed to be that guy.

Steen has the size,  and if I recall correctly he tested very close or better to Brooks in movement ability.  Also did 31 bench reps so he is very strong, and agile. And big.  A very close comp in stature and athleticism,  to Brandon Brooks.

The only way the Eagles replace Steen is with an already proven vet who they think is just like Brandon Brooks.

They can't have seen enough of Steen to be comfortable with him.  But they've seen more of him than any rookie.  He's not getting replaced with a second round pick this year.
