It's easier to trade Reddick than Sweat because of Nolan Smith's profile. If we trade Sweat, then we'd have two undersized OLBs.

I don’t think Smith is starting next season regardless, he’s clearly not ready. If they traded Sweat they’d definitely replace him.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

There's no evidence of this. Rewatch the Bucs playoff game.

I'm not saying that he's going to be a plus starter next year, but he flashed.

Way to do your homework Howie!

Our bench piece

They are drafting him because Opeta is leaving, no cap.

We can open up between 5-10 million re-signing Reddick, and 4.5 restructuring Maddox

Smith needs to start.  He's a first round pick.  He's athletically ready.  Put him on the field.

If I'm Howie I try to flip Sweat for whatever, extend Reddick and go after Josh Allen

The cap isn't real anyway.

Fletcher Cox, 4-time all-pro, 70 career sacks

Only 2 DTs in history have 100. I don’t think HoF is a pipedream

How many HoF DT's have north of 80? I don't see Fletch making that.

Plus Aaron Donald has 111 sacks in a shorter career playing in the same era.

In terms of current Vet DT's making a case I see Donald as clear number 1 and Chris Jones (75.5 sacks already and 3 rings) as 2 and they're head and shoulders above the others, Fletch is in group of guys like Geno Atkins, Cam Heyward and Ndamukong Suh who are all great DT's but suffer in comparison to a genuine gold plated all timer like Donald.

I just don't see his case for anything above Hall of Very Good.

Isn't that what Mike Mamula was accused of doing up at Lehigh?!

I miss the old days where training camps were intense and stuff actually happened.

Mamula was a decent player who was overdrafted. Smith is a plus athlete who, because of his size, has to develop his game. The Bucs game suggested that he was making progress.

All true, but none of that matters in regards to the allegations of indecent exposure at a local bar in Lehigh.

You don’t remove Dan Fouts from the hall of fame because he happened to play in Montana/Elway/Marino’s era.

Hard to rank exactly where he is on DT alltime sack list, as there are multiple guys who had many sacks at DE but played mostly at DT. So there anywhere from 7-10 guys with more career sacks than Fletcher currently has.

How about Calais Campbell? With your initials you shouldn’t overlook him.

I don’t think like 5 flash plays an entire season is evidence of full time starter.

I think it's overrated.

- Teams like the Commies and Patriots have way too much cap space, but who out there is worth that kind of money?  You can't spend money and build a winner.

- The Cowboys and 49ers have negative cap space, but they'll just extend some contracts and make a few moves here and there and will be fine.

Maybe it is real for the "really screwed teams": Bills, Dolphins, Chargers, Broncos, Saints

LOL, dude.  Harsh.

It would bring me joy to see him go back to the Seahawks and lead them to the playoffs.

Calais Campbell has played his entire career at the edge. Hes a huge edge, but PFR has no seasons where he was primarily an interior Dlineman

I don't know, maybe I just want to see chaos?

I think Russ would make a fantastic backup QB for us, but Ciara doesn't want to go to Philly, so F 'em.

To me it's not a question of "is Nolan Smith a good player right now?", it's a question of resource management.  Roster management, cap management, draft management.

Nolan Smith is a first round pick #30 overall.  His comp leading up to the draft was Haason Reddick; it was obvious (to me) the pick was made for the purpose of being an heir-apparent to Reddick.  Having Nolan Smith ready to start is a huge component in the decision whether to retain Reddick for big money or let him go.

This is a similar discussion to the Tyler Steen one yesterday.  What does it say about the Nolan Smith pick if you have to pay Reddick $18-20M for multiple years when he'll already be 30 in September?

You want to have some Hurts/Allen wildcat?
