It's likely Bradberry and Cox would get those slotted two designations.

Bradberry yes, but Cox is already a free agent.

Not making him June 1st pretty much guarantees Bradberry is gone.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I really think this is more circumstantial than anything else. They had Kenny Moore move to slot in Nickel and Dime who was one of the best.

Moore missed four games in 2022. I assume they would have moved Rodgers to the slot in those games if he was good there. It’s not like Rodgers was a full-time starter on the outside. Maybe he happened to start on the outside when Moore was hurt.

No he’s not

As soon as I get excited about Howie doing the right thing with the Maddox cut, the very next sentence says but both sides are talking about a new deal, can't make it up. Move on Howie, damn man

We’d have to really sign some good, young pieces in FA for me to be agreeable to drafting a nickel on day 2 (and honestly, I’m talking the comp 3 and not either of our round 2 picks)

I had comp 3 in mind for nickel, not round 2 picks

Cox is on every free agent list I've seen. PFF, NFL.com, Spotrac.

Not sure. It was the end of the season with an interim head coach. They may have just been going through the motions at that point.

Because he’s going to be a free agent, once the Eagles cut him. His contract was structured to have a dummy year in 2024 so they can post June 1st him.

OTC and Spotrac say slightly different things.  Spotrac says it automatically voids while OTC says:

Fletcher Cox signed a one year $10 million contract with the Eagles. The contract is fully guaranteed. The final four years of the contract are essentially void years but are structured to allow for a post June 1 release in 2024.

Who do you have in mind? I assume Sanistril (sic?) and Melton will be long gone.

No.

On the positive side Fletcher may not retire after all

:lol:I was not ready for this post lol

Green probably is probably drafted as an outside corner.

I think Spotrac is right. Don't think he'd be included in free agent lists unless he was definitely a free agent. They usually only put current free agents on there.

Biggest names but also a bunch that are done

Andru Phillips is someone I’ve started paying more attention to & so far I like.

Funny you mention him. Daniel Jeremiah called him a war daddy during the combine. Then I read his scouting report from Zierlein and was disappointed.

Don;t forget we have Isiah Rodgers who is a natural slot corner. Only question will be if the NFL lifts the suspension since it was tech a 2 year ban. He is elidable after 1 year to petition to have the suspension lifted.

One thing that seems weird: We’re only saving $2M in cap space releasing him with a non-June 1. If we re-signed him, are we actually saving money?

But we have cleared $5m from next years cap which would have been there. Total savings are $7m across 2 years and you can split them differently with a pre or post Jun 1 designation.

Huh haven’t seen Zierlein mention him! I started looking more into him after Jeremiah mentioned him & I like what I’ve seen so far

I’m not placing that much importance with Rodgers truth be told

Really hope they don't re-sign Maddox. Even if the $ is right, you can't count on him.

He’s barely played there in the NFL and had just 124 slot snaps in college.
