33 tackles last season. Nice.

So found something interesting. He moved from off ball LB to edge for the final handful of games and was productive there. Considering we will drop our OLBs more he could be a sneaky FA we add who ends up being a bust.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

My hope for sometime is for Howie to stop or minimise the void year nonsense and cease carrying so many cap hits for players long gone in future years.  i get flattening the cap over 3 or 4 years to boost the roster today and retain veterans like Kelce,. but you can only keep chasing the window for so long.

How did that work at LB last year?

They’re building the Morrow statue as we speak

I think you are being facetious but just in case  you aren't this is what we have been doing with failure the result.

It worked in Alien

He ain't sliding to day 2, that is a bad take. Hell, teams want those 5 year options in QBs more than other positions.

Yeah and two years ago Matt Corrall and Malik Willis were 'rising up draft boards'

Mock draft writers love to blow smoke about QB prospects.

We always look for the sneaky LB breakout candidates that never work out.

Yeah, that's got gonna quite cut it.

Literally never. If they do like him fine, but you still better be signing a higher level linebacker PLUS drafting one round 2. I'm very skeptical of this offseason, excited yes, but also skeptical and nervous due to Howie's history with the defensive side of the ball and moves like this will tell us nothing has changed and they learned nothing from past failures.

Theres a pretty big gap in sacks, but Van Ginkel had 19 QB Hits in 697 snaps. Danielle Hunter had 22 QB hits in 967 snaps. 3 less hits, in almost 300 less snaps.

He will be a top 10 pick sorry to tell you, but you tried to be edgy

Oh?

Simmons is the only older safety I’d have real interest in, although it’s scary to sign another old DB.

Gotta pay for Wilson's release somehow.

More to come.  Going by OTC, they are currently 16,354,889 over + Wilsons cut - Simmons cut   = 51,454,889 over

you may be right. He certainly seems to be QB4 solidly ahead of Penix and Nix in this class.

And lately its been popular in mocks to have teams trading up after the first 3 QBs go early.

Right after the combine, these mocks are based on the buzz people have heard all week long from actual NFL sources. So it seems very possible.

being that he is released, Im interested now. for 1-2 years.

Wasnt interested in trading, but this changes things.

Simmons next to Blankenship is very nice. Sydney Brown has another year to work in sparingly and improve his football IQ (we forget he is pretty new to football)

With Simmons solidifying things, Id probably not be looking for a Kinchens in round 3 type of pick anymore either.

Id shift focus to round 4 or later types. Cole Bishop, Sione Vaki, Josh Proctor, Tyler Owens, Dominique Hampton...

Yup.

I want Sean Payton to go to NYG and destroy their cap future next

Wonder if Denver cuts Jerry Jeudy since he was in trade rumors last year too.

Wonder what Denver fans think about Simmon's performance last year.

He made the pro bowl with only 70 tackles, 1 FF, and 3 INTs. Thats an ok starting safety kind of production. Not a dominant type of performance. Has he already lost a step like Byard?

PJ Locke was the interesting name from Denver. Who in 474 snaps, which is about half the snaps of a regular starting role, had 52 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 QB hits, 2 FFs and 1 INT

Extrapolating that in to a starting role, you basically double those numbers.

Nothing to save cap wise doing that.  So no upside unless they get some draft capital out of it and you still have to pay for his replacement.

He’ll be 31 in the middle of the season. He’s likely lost a step. Thinking more. I wouldn’t commit to two years for him.

@LeanMeanGM remember we were talking about how the Chiefs fleeced the Bills with the trade to get Mahomes and I pointed out that the Bills did get some good players out of the deal?

Mock me

Some team will overpay Simmons.

Let it not be the Eagles.
